ive got a 2002 yz 426 and i am wondering if its possible to make a spark arrester?. the bike has a standard yz426 muffler ,are spark arresters just small mesh steel screens?
can you buy aftermarket spark arresters you can fit to your muffler ? .i know you can buy after market mufflers with spark arresters but they are hellishly expensive:gob:
sorry for all the questions
cheers Dave :bye:

you can make them, put thin mesh over the rear, wrap a big hose clamp over the top of the muffler,
very often done, especally for the Napier 6 hour which requires spark arrestors

Thanks scott411.. that sounds pretty easy to do.:2thumbsup
now that i think about it i may make a small metal screen i can fit into the muffler opening then screw it in place

Mild steel mesh (for fly screens) doesn't last very long.
Buy a cheap kitchen sieve from Briscoes or somewhere; it's stainless steel mesh and pre-shaped into a nice dome.

Beautiful....I find borrowing the pot scrubbing brush for those carburator jobs really helpful as well .

Measuring cups are never the same after a few chemicals have been through them, either are funnels. We're past the days that you'd boil your chain in Duckams, but I hear the dishwasher can make a great parts cleaner if you are looking for reasons for your lover to leave you. Watch those aggressive cleaners on bare ally though, greys them up somewhat.
