Tuesday 7.00pm: He’s 9 years old and after a motocross accident, Christian Nesbit may never walk again. The shock from landing after a 24 metre long jump broke his back in three places.
He has been diagnosed as a paraplegic and his parents say they are realistic about his chances of full recovery. But Christian is showing everyone that he is still the boy he's always been.
A story about courage and hope.
i think we can all agree this is a horrible accident for any one
probaly the worst thing to happen to a dirt bike rider

Thanks I'll make sure that my household doesn't see that item.
Good luck and best wishes to Christian but these stories just raise concern to others that don't realise that the risks are actually quite small.

True true Danger, and I respect your concerns.
But... I think this may come from another angle and that may be to show the courage and determination that young Christian and his family/friends are showing at present and it could also raise awareness of a fund maybe. Well I truly would hope so.

Just watched the article and I'm so impressed with young Christian. What a fantastic wee fella.
Had a couple of hard swallows when the parents were recalling the accident.
Hope he keeps his outlook on life................."it happens"

Yep, brave lad with a good attitude on life. I wish him all the best.
Really felt for his Mum and Dad. You cant wrap your kids in cotton wool, its way better they get out there and do stuff. Unfortunately there has to be the occasional statistic like this one. Thats life.

very sad.. I hope he pulls through! What a trooper!! And his parents deserve a medal for bringing up such a winner.:first:
 Christian!
First look made me want to say... his parents are idiots to allow him to do that! Mother blood in me says no way I would allow my baby to do something like that, but....
Then I hear the young fella telling it how he saw it, how his parents saw it. Wisdom there and no regrets. Very mature young lad. Felt his parents tears in mine.
Sending my love out to that family tonight!

Sad but why is there always talk of a fund...ACC will presumably provide treatment, wheelchair, housing mods, school mods, special vehicle, the family will get paid to look after him by ACC...they have plenty of support and the boy will cope...

What a top kid, parents should be proud to have such a child with
with such great attitude on life.
Cant blame them for letting there child have a go! all the best to the whole
family, im sure we will see more of Christian in the near future!

I agree! The parents in this are PARENTS. I acutely feel for them actually, hell of a shock to have to reconcille. A sport they love, that a child of theirs is severly injured taking part in. I can only imagine the guilt a Mother/Father would be feeling, no matter how easy the child attempts to make it for them. He is a wise child
Shit happens...Life goes on!
I dont mean that flippantly either.
Shit does happen in life. You have to deal with it!

Yeah right!! Do you write the script for the Tui's Ads? Maybe you work for Uncle Helen and her mate Peters. He's honest as well!!
ACC... better off with private insurance.

I say they deserve a medal because they have brought up a top kid with a top attitude. How many times do you see bleating because of the way some parents bring up their kids, but there's almost no recognition for awesome parents! So I give them the :2thumbsup for being such great people. They'll need all the support they can get in the months to come!

Yeah right....compared to funding for those born with a disability, his parents will have an more straightforward path and better funding...they will get a mobility vehicle funded by ACC even though the kid cannot drive...Disability you have to fund yourself because the kid cannot drive...
I could open your eyes on the subject...
Private Insurance would not cover the future requirements like ACC does plus some activities are excluded.
I think you need a tui...

Surely that is what parents should do?
I certainly don't expect recognition for my circumstances...I love my Daughter unconditionally...not much support...no medal required....it's what being a parent is all about...there are plenty of unsung parents....that is the way we like it.
