Awesome movie.

Full of stuff no one reckons matters any more and whoever did the battle scenes read his Clausewitz, and studied a bit of Gustavus Adolphus as well.

Siege mining, pincer movements, plans turning to crap, and the sheer balls required for that type of warfare were all on display in spades, plus throw in some battlefield misunderstanding that tends to be cast in black & white by modern dunderhead media types.

Decent sweet romance in small doses and some superb short jokes.

DLF. Awesome.

Isn't it a kids movie? Sounds like Saving Ryan's Privates

Cool! I was hoping the kids would want to go see it during the school holidays cause I want to see it, guess I'll be watching it at home sometime soon, as alas the kids wanted to see Mama Mia *spew*.

It's easily as harrowing as Saving Ryan's privates.

They never used to spare kids the realities of life, especially in books set in wartime.

It's all gone fluffy bunnies now.

A mate's daughter is off overseas on an exchange thingy and had a fundraiser at the Lighthouse in Petone. I paid $40 to avoid going to see Mama Mia and he promised not to tell Heather it was on.

Everyone wins.

Aaaahh...C.S.Lewis shares some of the most important wisdom and insight transformed to be palatable to the average human...its just that kids are innocent (as opposed to cynical) enough to understand these principals and truths. He is a very very smart man, have a look at "the Screwtape Letters".

It can't fail to be better than the lion witch and the wardrobe. What with that being the biggest pile of shit I've ever been dragged to see.

Apart from Enemy at the Gates.. which was laughable.

Fave books as a (wee) kid:

The Machine Gunners
Stig of the Dump
All the Narnia books
Bottersnikes & Gumbles
Biggles!!!
and best of all....Commando magazine!!!

Lots of fighting, death and betrayal in that lot, and I loved every minute.

Three thumbs up?

Are you a mutant, or did you borrow someone else's thumb, or did Prince Caspian cause a dowser in your trouser?

I think it might be wise for you not to see "Prince Caspian" then. I went to "Prince Caspian" (without a child, very brave) and quite liked it, but it's in the same vein as "The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe", but with more battles.

There weren't any battles in the last one, were there? Just a few people standing around towards the end of the film..
