No Timing Is Done, It's A Rider Training Day, Not A Race Meeting (tm).

That said, if you're circulating in group 2 at 1:50 ish or faster you'll fit in nicely.

New PB of around 1.50, but felt way more comfortable and alot smoother throughout all in all. Chasing Chrislost around was good fun, and didnt get left in the weeds as I half expected.......beaten.........but not thrashed!

I haven't been at Taupo since VMCC round 1 in May, Taupo track is so much more fun than lake Manfield!

Spending a day at the track was just what I needed. I haven't had much chance to ride the 998 yet, but after Friday I'm quite happy with the whole setup.

Aero - got some great video in the 4th session. The camera shit itself in the 3rd session on Pedro's handlebar, but you can just make out you, me & Quasi 3-across before it stopped.

It was my first trackday on the sv, I think I'm getting the hang of it, I was happy with how I progressed from first to last sessions. I've been told my lines seem ok and I'm accelerating well out of the corners, but that I should work on going faster into the corners and be smoother.
On the bandit, I was worried about leaning too far over and the tyres letting go/rolling off the edge (happened twice on turn 3) so I'd try to get my knee down because then it felt like I could pick the bike up when it started to go, plus hanging off meant the bike wasn't so far leaned over. I started doing the same on the sv, but I think it meant I was focusing too much on getting my knee down. It's got pirelli diablo's on at the moment which ought to grip fairly well so I started focusing more on riding smoothly than getting my knee down and I think it helped.
I'll try and get some stiffer springs in the front and maybe emulators and also install a '05 zx6r shock before the next trackday. I was noticing the front mushing around a lot going into corners. I didn't notice anything wrong with the rear ("best you know is the best you've ridden", I guess), but the zx6r shock is supposed to be a good upgrade and it'll be interesting to try.

Anyway, the weather was awesome, just a bit cold. I see why the sv is a popular touring bike, at 110km/h in 6th it does 5000rpm and you can barely feel any vibrations at all, plus the exhaust note is deep, even with the Two Brother's can on my sv I can hardly hear it over the wind noise. And the heated grips have won me over, I think I'll leave them on the bike.

Was a great day alright. Thank you Goblin, Kiwifruit and Matt Bleck again. Thanks to the Slow Race contestants .... the winner is Paul Brown! Chrislost had it in the bag but put his feet down, so he is the 'slowest looser'!

It is such an amazing thing really. You all take such pride in presenting your bikes, and work on your riding skills. You analyze your (and others) riding and improve every track day. When we started doing track days we had mismatched front and rear tyres being presented at scrutineering, tyre pressures and brake pad issues, and most of these bikes ride on the open road with WOFs like that! Now it is hard to fault your bikes and the effort to improve performance on both bike and body is impressive. You start preparing at least a week out, take time off work and travel afar! (You must have wonderful wives too.) Well done you lot. Looking forward to seeing you at the next one.

I was more concerned about some really dodgy riding from some sprotbikes in the infield............lol probably should include myself once I was tired:spanking:..............but was only a trackday so concessions are to be made.

Yes to that dude, thats why I didnt put my Motard in that group, I stuck in group 3 but that was a bit slow (traffic wise) so moved to group 2 which was good speed wise as I was alone mostly apart from the end, but that was kinda boring with no other Motards around, rock n a hard place stuff really

The 10 went real good man, def went quicker on it then i was on the 600, the new suspension should be here next week and steering damper so that should help out a tad! Gotta keep those dodgy passes away from the trackdays! My dodgy passes were all on my old man but he loved and if i shot up the inside he would hold his line around the outside and squeeze me! It was great fun! With all the racing you dont often get a chance to just play around and have fun like that

Thanks for another excellent day MotoTT. Amazing how you guys can organise such good weather everytime and nice to have a warmer track too :sunny: . Good to catch up with some old faces and meet some new. Had good battles during the 2nd and 3rd sessions in group 1, then spent the last 2 with Duckaddict and Erik in group 3. :Punk:

Cool Videos Erik, Chris and SeppoDave. Interesting each video had the camera mounted in a different position on the bike... Think I like the stem mounted one of Chris's best - made it easy to watch and without the movement of the helmetcam.

Hope everyone got home without a ticket! :Police: Lots of cops about on the way down and back - Valentine 1 performed well with those directional arrows proving to Duckaddict that this is the only detector to get!! Not that I speed on the road with the trailer anyways. Till next time...

Sessions were closer to 20 min than 10. They get shortened when people bin it :yes: (and need the ambo etc)

......and in response to this one, i dont think i was bumped although it looks like it in the vid, my rear end hit the white edge line and it got a little loose so if you mean DMNTD hes off the hook:sweatdrop

And speaking off DMNTD big ups to him for not overtaking me or riding overme with my nooby early breaking.

Think i pulled into the pits after followin ya down the back str8 that lap !
Guess its time to try gettin the body hangin off a bit more and i might up my corner speed a bit (i hope lol) then i might even get aggressive, though i think sesh 2 and 3 were a lot quicker than that with alot more passing rather than just follow the leader !
Not sure if i'll find a way up to the next one, but if your at the october track day, come say gidday Dave ! I should have a cam on the triple by then and will jump into the same group and repay that favour by chasing you round for a sesh !
