Late for work, low on gas, head into shell station for a top up. filled her up with the good stuff.....$40:70 and bugger no wallet wtf!!! :angry2: (picture it sitting on bench at home) :crybaby:. Slunk into the shop and gave my sob story, offered my back pack, watch as security and waited for "leave you bike here and walk" response but no..... "you look honest enough, nip home and get it, I trust you!" :gob:. Shot home got the wallet back to the gas station full of praise and relief, she thanked me!!!!! for coming back!!!! What a top bird . See some people dont see us bikers as law breaking neanderthals :innocent: Oh and I got Fly Buys Points as well.....

props to the Shell Station Lady!

For just such crises I keep a cash flow card hidden in the lining of my helmet! I may forget my wallet, I may forget my phone, I may forget my trousers (yeah, well you'll be old one day too !), but I'll not forget my helmet.

What a fabulous story! :sunny: Thanks for sharing - we need to hear more about the good side of life - we experience it 99% of the time if we're looking at things realistically, but for some reason we sometimes forget about that! I'm sure the universe will make sure this wonderful lady is blessed in return

Big hugs to you Shell Station Lady

Same thing happened to me years ago right near the southern end of the Auckland m/way. Pull off, fill up - oh shit! Wife had my cards (yeah, yeah - dont go there).

The lady there (also from Shell) told me that I could "pop back in the weekend" and pay.

I did - as well as taking her flowers and writing to the manager letting him/her know what awesome staff they had.

Id recommend writing in or something - I think its rare that they get the 'big ups' they deserve and Im sure it would make her day!

A mate of mine did this for a customer once and they wrote to the management singing her praises. She got a written warning for "breaking the rules".....

Planning to call in tomorrow with the choccies and everbodys sentiments. Too risky letting the boss know what a top gal she has been :nono:

They are meant to get your details in a their no pay book. Including your rego plate etc. SO can track you down if you dont return.

Glad you went back. If you didnt, some poor biker in the future wouldnt be soo lucky!

Yes.
I've filled my bike with petroleum distillates a few times (twice? thrice?) then done the Ozzie haka. No drama - just some paperwork to fill out, they give you a receipt, then you come back and pay.

Nice that the Shell lady was so trusting towards you but if you decided not to go back and pay, all service stations have cameras in them and Im sure they would have got your registration number and gone to good lengths to chase you up for the money you owed them for the fuel, especially with the amount of drive offs they have every day since the rise in fuel costs. Good on you for being so honest and giving us motorcyclists a good reputation that we are decent human beings and can be trusted in a situation like that.
