I may have one or two of these rare beasts lying around ... seems like such a waste to throw em out... Brand new, still in the CPU box.

Obviously, they're not exactly expensive... but make an offer, and specify how many you need... Company may as well have snack/drinks money... :apint:

edit: Please for the love of god don't ask me to mail out one to each individual around the country... hopefully you're close enough to throw it AT you.

Aw fark dude. After my stock one failed (wouldn't spin past 1600rpm) I just took delivery of an Arctic Cooling Freezer Pro 7 thingie yesterday. Didn't read the specs though...it's farkin huuuuuuuge. Just (and I mean just) managed to squeeze it the case after ditching one of the case fans. Blardy thing now has the CPU at a mere 24C (was erm...shutting down before at about 80something) so didn't bother using the thermal goo I'd bought. Well recommended.

Oh...and umm......was more embarrassing asking the chemist for nail varnish remover.

Easier to go to the hardware store and get some acetone :buggerd:

It ain't THAT big... we tried squeezing one of the cm hyper's (http://www.coolermaster.com/products/product.php?language=en&act=detail&tbcate=1&id=3096) into a case... that was funny... no hope, even in the bigger cases. Freezer Pro performs very well for its price point and easy installation.

Zalman's are gorgeous, but the bastards charge a blood fee on every install. Once I got right near the end of a build, all pleased it hadn't bitten me... then it slipped in a nice big cut, blood pouring out :(

mmm better market the stock ones as hand friendly and low profile

edit: the thermal paste is there for a good reason. (Freezer Pro should have come with a small pad on it already). Many think you have to lay on a nice thick layer, but its actually supposed to be very thin, and the aim is to smooth out the joining of the two surfaces, and aid the heat transfer from cpu to cooler.

A.K.A. nail polish remover.

I tried but this is the wop wops, one pointed me towards a bottle of turps but it wouldn't have been a good look in front of the customer. Mind you, the pink nail polish remover bottle got a couple of strange looks till they saw what I did with it. I've got "proper" CPU cleaner somewhere in the workshop....I'm sure I'll find it over the next 10 years.

Bejezzus that's a huge fan on that Hyper bad boy. Shame about the hideous disco lights. Why the hell anyone wants LED's all over their PC is beyond me.

Came with a small pad anyway (as you said) so I left it running for an hour or so and it never went above 25C so didn't bother with the silvery arctic sooper goo.

I've seen some horrors in just the last 3 years I've been doing this IT malarky "professionally"......HAW HAW . As you say, most seem to err towards putting the whole farking tube of paste on the processor. Gotta say I love playing with everyone else's toys.

No the acetone from hardware shop is for fibreglassing etc. Good for cleaning up after using the resin etc.

I used to use meths to clean the cpu, seemed to do a good enough job. Definately recommend putting it on the join between cpu and heatsink. Bit dodgy not having anything in there at all!

We once happened to get a power supply for a desktop we were building that actually cycled between approximately seven colours, continuously. Completely unintentional, and happened to be for a director's house. Whole family fought over where the two pc's should go, as one had the changing light, one was a normal blue

I think I can beat all comers. I once went into a client that we did very little work for (the staff liked us, but the owner knew a mate... who sent his lemmings) and went over to a desktop that had a small server role. Wiggled mouse... the whole screen is flipped 180 degrees :pinch: Utter a few words of surprise, and the receptionist calmly says, oh yeah, the guy came around, said it suddenly did that, and it can't be fixed.

Of course, navigating a screen is rather hard with everything inverted, and while attempting to get to the display settings, I asked how he had used it. She calmly walked over, turned it around, and sat it on its back, on the flat tower. (almost have try it for yourself, to understand). 1-2 minutes later, I had it flipped back again.

Makes you wonder :eek5: (just to be safe, I also deactivated all the hot keys, so it couldn't suddenly do that again.)
