I know you cant do anything about the weather but enough is enough. Supposed to be coach of my sons soccer team but after 9 rounds of the competition there have been 5 games cancelled (even today although its fine in Auckland).
The boys and I are just fed up with it all and it breaks the kids when I have to phone and say sorry games cancelled and see you at practice.
Guess I am not alone in this situation and all I can say is roll on summer when I can start coaching the boys cricket team

I thought it was winter....but hey maybe I am missing something here....
Winter is one of the four seasons (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Season) of temperate (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Temperate) zones. Calculated astronomically (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Astronomy), it begins on the solstice (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Solstice) and ends on the equinox (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Equinox). It is the season with the shortest days and the lowest average temperatures (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Temperature). It has colder weather (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Weather) and, especially in the higher latitudes or altitudes, snow (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Snow) and ice (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ice). The coldest average temperatures of the season are typically experienced in January (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/January) in the Northern Hemisphere (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Northern_Hemisphere) and in July (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/July) in the Southern Hemisphere (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Southern_Hemisphere).

So move the the South Island - it's better down here (well I've found it to be drier than Auckland)

Yee ha - I'm our team manager, and we got a game today finally after heaps of cancellations too. Awesome boys won 6-0. But like yours, they have been gutted when they can't play because the fields are a pool of mud from all this rain. Only a few more games now b4 the end of season, so gotta enjoy them while they last.
