Who has ever owned a Japper? O.K, you own a nice BMW or Triumph at the moment, but what really interested you back in 1968? A Honda CB125 or a Yamaha FS1E? Was a Kawasaki Mach III or Z1 of any interest to you? Did a Honda CB750 with those four cylinders, carbies and pipes get you going? It's all pretty ho-hum now isn't it, but it wasn't back then, was it?

Do you ride a GSXR now? If so, do you want to show it?

I'm trying to gauge what amount of interest there is for a Japper only bike show. Who has a Rice-Burner put away in the back of the shed? Are you interested in showing it? Does your 1999 Fireblade get you going? Do you have a Yamaha YDS3 or a Suzuki 50cc from 1968 or a Suzuki Stinger or Hustler. A Waterbus or Titan, Suzuki T350 or Cobra? What have you? I don't care as long as you are passionate about your old Japanese motorcycle. And does anyone out there have a Kawasaki W1 or a restored Kawasaki Silver Pigeon or restored Fuji Industries Rabbit Junior scooter?

Please email me at toycollector10@gmail.com if you are interested in putting your Japanese motorcycle on a trailer or riding it down to a hall where we can show these old bikes off. The Triumph, BSA, BMW, British and European boys and Jokers MC have all had shows but when was the last Japper show held in Christchurch...or anywhere?

I can't guarantee that we will have space for every bike but we won't know until we have some idea of the interest in a show.

Please get in contact by email letting me know what your bike is and include a picture or two or phone 03 357 0481 after 11 AM....If there is no reply please leave a message including your email address and I will get back to you.

Also, if you are in Christchurch and have any constructive comments or suggestions to make on this website please feel free to do so.

Regards, TC, aka Mark.

I'd turn up.

There are a few tidy old Jappers in CHCH - Z's CB's - there was a dozen or so over at Little River late Autumn - a bunch of strokers as well.

You'd have to get a old Triumph,Beezer?HD etc and a sledgehammer as well .... $5 for 5 hits........

Really cool idea, I'd make the time to turn up. You could even borrow my RG150. They're a bit of a rarity... :2thumbsup:

Sounds like a good plan, I'm old enough to remember all those mentioned...
The first 900 kawa's were the weapon. The Honda 350 four's were popular too. They seemed more "attainable" than the 900 kawa. I quite liked them.

toycollector10

Hi FJRider...We have them all and beautifully restored too

CB350 four.
CB500 four.
CB550 four.
CB750 K0, K1 and K2's etc.
Kawa Mach III's plus the whole line up from the 250cc triple to the H2 750cc.
Kawa A7 twin.
Kawa Z1 1973 "Jaffa" and Z1A's etc.
Suzuki Cobra (possibly)
Suzuki Titans.
Suzuki T20 Hustler
Suzuki T125 Stinger
Suzuki GT750 Waterbus's from first year on up.
Yamaha RD350
Yamaha XS2
Various small 50cc bikes that we all pootled around on, Suzuki, Yamaha etc.
Various restored vintage trail bikes and mini bikes.
Various small capacity singles (hopefully) in numbers yet to be advised
Various unrestored bikes used as daily riders, what have you, all welcome.

I have never seen a Bridgestone. Do they exist in New Zealand? If someone knows please let me know. That would be something to see.

We are missing Suzuki RamAir twins and triples. Who can help with this? GT185's and larger right up to the 550cc

This is just for starters. But you can see that this is a line up of bikes that really did change the face of motorcycling during a very brief window between about 1967 and 1980.

The aim of the show is to get as many of these old smokers, twins and triples and early Japanese 4 cylinder multis together as we can.

A lot of the bikes we will be showing haven't been seen on the street for 30 or 40 years or so. Who didn't own a Japper in the old days? As a member of the Classic Japanese Motorcycle Group here in Christchurch I have seen people having very positive and personally rewarding reactions when they come across our old bikes.

We would also like to include later models to keep the show balanced and to appeal to as many fans as possible.

So email me if you are interested in showing your bike.

I'm all for the show!

But.. does it have to be only older jap bikes?

What about some cool custom modern japs?

Anyway... when you get a show going, put up a BIG POST and give me some posters.

And if you need any help let me know, I will help and some of the people in my club will be happy to also.

You sound like the sort of person we need in our group. Thanks for your offer of assistance and I might just take you up on that.

I like a rider who wants to get involved and motivated.

I would definitely come and see the show but won't be showing anything due to the fact I work 7 days a week basically all year (except my overseas jaunts) so getting my bikes there would not be feasible. I have a few old Kawasakis (23 H2s and 3 Z1s plus parts and an original Eddie Lawson 1000 in my hideaway) but if anyone knows of a 1972 Kawasaki S1 (pearl white) for sale please let me know. :scooter:

Would this be limited to std bikes of the time? or would custom bikes based on these bikes be of interest. There are a few very nice customised early Jap bikes out there that are appealing to the eye.

i have three bikes that may be suitable.
one is rare as hell now because most of them got crashed and written off and/or killed their riders(like my first one did to the guy who bought it:no:)

the next one is a nutters bike that yamaha should never have let out of the factory gates but im so glad they did:Punk:they sold six new in new zealand.

the last one is the only one in the country.

and of course theyre all japanese strokers:done:

drop me a pm if that is the kind off stuff you are looking for it sounds like a good idea.

Tis a tidy wee piece for sure :niceone: I'd give it a thorough groom to get it gleaming for a public appearance

Wow seeing some of the old trail bikes would sure bring back some memories, XL100s DT250E etc

In one of the previous posts a K Biker mentions bikes, he says that he has one of only six bought into the country, and the only one of another. What are they!!!

A harley engine, any color of paint other than black, and don't need new tires
But I kid, this thread is about a bike show and I'm working on doing a custom bike (as opposed to a bike that NEEDS parts to get it going)

I won't be putting tassles on, but there is an abundance of aftermarket parts, and a few guys at work available to do some custom parts.

For ideas of what a custom Japanese bike looks like, I suggest you visit Daves profile :)
