@98tls, he clipped a pothole, and it looks like the steering freaked out.

@breakaway, second video, bike can steer, brain cannot. Classic newbie error.

Adjust brain.

Sadly, I don't think hes going to have the opportunity to adjust anything.

I know. It didn't even look like that vicious a corner.

Wont' catch me doing dumb shit like that - not going to go courting these sorts of incidents myself. Heart racing stuff can happen when you're riding conservatively without exponentially increasing the "faaaaarrrrrkkkkk!!!!" factor by racing each other like that. I thought he'd have ended up a lot worse looking than he did so maybe his guardian angel was working overtime that day.

The thing is, no matter how careful you are, one day you are going to have to swerve, and you are going to have to do it harder than you believe the bike can handle. Thats what bit him - his brain locks up because he believes he cannot do it, and thats why its important to at least understand the situation, and maybe practice it a little. I believe this exact situation is the number one newbie killer, which is why I teach to steer with the bars exclusively for the first 1,000 km.

I don't disagree with you, but my point is why go out of your way to exacerbate a risky situation. Chasing each other like they were is tantamount to begging for a bin. I'm quite realistic that one day I will have to test myself beyond what I think I or my bike can handle but am not going to actively bring that date forward!
Happy to be a nanna, even though it won't necessarily guarantee me a longer life.

The second video posted by Breakaway sends shivers down the spine.

Something tells me he didn't get up in a hurry. Or ever.

The dude from the very first vid looked in pretty good nick for someone who binned it at 150ks. Guess he didn't hit anything.
