View Full Version : NO RESPECT for wee bike riders

I am currently practising my license test passing skills on a cute wee vtr250...thanks again to RantyDave for the loaner.

Anyway being back on a wee bike has reminded me about how much I love and take for granted the power of my big(ish) bike.

This has given me a different take on what it is like to be on a wee bike than what I had before I rode big bikes.

The big thing is that YOU GET NO RESPECT. Three examples of this just on my way home tonight...

Firstly - TO all my fellow big bike riders out there...just because your bike is bigger that doesn't mean you are always A; a better rider OR B;faster - than those on little bikes.

Sitting at lights today old man (ok that's just what I'm calling him cos he annoyed me) on big arse bike filters to the front and puts himself out in front of me while looking down at me like prrrft. OK then I thought - whatever you got the meat to beat me grandpa. SO off we go...him riding like if he broke 40 it would kill him...me in behind getting bored just about falling asleep. SO as we approached the twisty way home, and I had determined he intended on going the same way :bash:, I thought bugger this and decided to pass him...didn't see him in my mirrors again

Secondly - when on a small bike you have way more car drivers seeming to 'not see you' and trying to push you off the road! You know what I mean...assuming that beacause you are so small that you must surely NOT need the whole lane to yourself, so they come right up beside you :shit: MOFOS! Then when you ride in the middle of the lane to keep them behind you get people coming across on you from the inside lanes as if you aren't even there.

Thirdly - normally when I pass young kids on the side of the road they do the all hail greeting and look with great appreciation and admiration at my bike as I pass by. Today a little punk ran out AT me - had something in his hand and tried to throw it at me..I managed to squeeze a little more juice out of the bike (sorry rev limiter) and used my obstacle avoidance technique to get round him just before flipping the little shit the bird! :argh: Pity I didn't kick him as I went past...oh well at least I didn't bin I guess

SO I am very very very much looking forward to passing my full license on Friday so I can get back on my BIG GIRL bike and enjoy that growly sound and lovely torquey bally grunt that I love so much....I do miss my mojo!

AND to all the wee bike riders out there I promise to not be a wanker like the dude on the big whale bike and the losers in cars....You have a right to be on the road and I know for a fact that MANY of you will be faster than me too.

Keep cool people and ride safe :Punk:

Honda Schmnonda...fact is, they are some of the most reliable machines there is out there. But I have noticed an increase in the wankerriders acting ups over the last couple of days: Full moon perhaps?

Number One
17th September 2008, 18:45
Nope just gives me the right to sit my full test once before I am technically eligible to. If I don't pass then the 6months to wait gets reset - should be sweet though.

Seriously though, I ride it like a big bike as far as lane ownership goes, and I eyeball (well as much as a dark visor lets you) any beyatch that looks like they're going to give trouble.

Hell it has been an eye opening experience as to what it's really like riding on a wee thang.
I get some condescending looks from other bikers and cars just think it's fine to drive into my lane despite the fact that I ride in the middle of it.
Oh well...several car drivers have had some treatment and doubt they would do it again and I just crack up at the idiot wanker riders attempting to look down on me...if only they knew what was in my garage

Shucks sweetpea, when I's rides ma liddle biddy ol'A100 "Pippi" I get the oddest reactions, I like to make life surreal for cagers around moi!

I likes to bounce up and down behinds them and the bedspring shocks makes an "eek eek" sound very audibly. I love watching the drivers try and work out where that noise is coming from and if'n its their vehicles :devil2:

Mind you, once I swapped to my red ninja camos of comedic and double head take value, its all gravy! :yeah:

 clearly I use my venting language a little too harshly for some delicate souls round this place  FTR I'm not as wound up and pissed off with the world as that post may come across to some of you.

It's a bit of a purge is all...in the good the old days they called it a bitch or a tale..in the PC world of today they are considered frightful and people leap about and ask you to behave

Yeah, it was a tiring and shitty day today. Followed by an uninspiring but not uneventful ride home to my palace where I can relax, and poke fun at the world, and the interweb is 'just something I use for entertainment and release, somewhere where I can play'.

In life grandpa is no doubt a lovely young svelt hot man and was actually being friendly and giving me a :blip: look  but because I was knee height he looked like mean darth vader coming to get me..anyway blah blah blah...I don't care really, I made a few comments about a few situations in my day today and it made me think and I had a laugh in the process too and some people identified with it and clearly have experienced it and experienced peeps too.

To the nervous nellies out there frightful of me having a bitch HTFU. I'm just me. However notice also that my post was a celebration of the fact that I have a gorgeous bike that I love in the garage and as of Friday I will be in a position to play on it freely and I really really really look forward to that. And just for the record I actually have been riding long enough to hold my own on the road and I do undestand the technical art of road position  Be mindful about letting your assumptions guide you about anyone on here - you never have the full picture on KB...fark imagine if you did  That would put me right off

The difference between riding around on a full noise Harley or Triumph to a two fiddy is immense.

In terms of how many people change lanes or pull out in front of you or drive too close.

It's why I will NEVER wear a fluro vest. Any mutha-fukker-fear-factor is entirely gone.

I've ridden round Wellytown heaps, only had one problem.

I have far more issues in the cage with twat drivers making mysteriously fucked up moves, than I ever experience on my bike. Believe it or not, people still manage not to see a Toymota Surf. Even when lights are flashing, drivers finger is waving and horn is honking, they still are "apparently oblivious" to said vehicle - yeah right.

Maybe people see me because I'm not quite stick thin (a bit hard to miss really), hold my spot on the road when on my 250, and wear my fluoro vest - yeah baby! (Well sometimes, usually only at night).

Maybe it was just one of "those" days?!

I don't think the world thinks anything about me...infact I don't really care too much what people think of me based on their assumptions from how I "post" on here. Oh absolutely...my little VTR having aftermarket twin carbon exhausts, the Vtwin gets a real chance to breathe and gives her a whole different aspect from "just a little 250"....she barks and gets plenty of respect for it.

I reckon that Honda should make that exhaust system standard on the VTR 250s....they'd get even more sales, cos it just makes her sound sooooooooo horny

I do admit to a very shameless tinge of pride everytime I ride in a group with other VTR 250 owners who don't know me...it's interesting watching them first noticing my bike, then realising what she is, and then seeing the wash of green colour spreading over their faces as they hear her purr and then roar as I open the throttle!

She is quite unique and that is why I'm quite happy not upgrading for quite some time. I'll make a few cosmetic changes, but that's about it for a few years.

FFS! Riding to work this morning taking my usual strong position about a metre to the left of the centre lane when blow me down ... some prick passed me on the left! I was too stunned to even react (externally at least).

[QUOTE=007XX;1734342]I do admit to a very shameless tinge of pride everytime I ride in a group with other VTR 250 owners who don't know me...it's interesting watching them first noticing my bike, then realising what she is, and then seeing the wash of green colour spreading over their faces as they hear her purr and then roar as I open the throttle!

Does it sound like one of these?

Oh absolutely...my little VTR having aftermarket twin carbon exhausts, the Vtwin gets a real chance to breathe and gives her a whole different aspect from "just a little 250"....she barks and gets plenty of respect for it.

I reckon that Honda should make that exhaust system standard on the VTR 250s....they'd get even more sales, cos it just makes her sound sooooooooo horny

Amen to that, you've caught me having a wee gander at your bike too. I just got a pair of Scorpions for my VTR1000. They make my bike sound very sexual indeed. ;)

Firstly - TO all my fellow big bike riders out there...just because your bike is bigger that doesn't mean you are always A; a better rider OR B;faster - than those on little bikes.

You are absolutely right, I have a very big one  and there no A's or B's about it.
This line is from Desiderata....

'If you compare yourself with others, you may become vain and bitter; for always there will be greater and lesser persons than yourself'

I love that line and it goes so well with everything in life, no matter what you do!
I will carry on biking with the absolute knowledge knowing that I do not have to prove myself to anybody (except myself naturally) and im easily pleased...

Lesson over, as you were...:niceone:

Can you buy a "big" bike without having your full licence? I know that when I bought my 2fiddy, they had to sight my licence before they would sign off on the ownership papers. I would assume that it must be the same for a big bike.......... isnt it?

If you are buying from a shop you probably still need to have the license sighted

She does have a license, just wasn't a full one.... that would be her choice and decision as she would be the one wearing the consequences of the decision.

Speaking of respect, I haven't been out for too many rides, but was taking the back way from Whitby to Johnsonville, and I got a nod of respect :niceone: (well - I think it was) from a fellow biker on a large sports bike heading north. and I am only on a 250.

I tried to return the favour... but being a learner (you know - too slow and all that).

I think it comes down to how mean you look to non-bikers, or how "try hard" you look to other bikers. I mean, a black helmet and one badly dilated pupil and blood shot eyes might help my case :devil2:

Dave.

I was test-riding scooters today and got carved up constantly. There's no doubt about it - people react differently to you if you're on a little bike and/or one perceived to be 'weaker' than them. (The scoots weren't 50cc by the way and I was both keeping pace with the traffic and holding my place on the road.)
