wow....
last friday my bike was impounded for what im not going to talk about on here.
ok so the storey...
i was told that my bike was only going to be impounded for 7 days, so today was meant to be the day i would get it back, gave the impound yard a ring this moring to make sure they would be there.
Got hold of the guy and he said he knew nothing of any vechile being impounded for 7 days, so he told me to ring the hiway patrol.
i got intouch with them and the said the had no record that my bike was impounded and asked me to fax them a copy of the impound form which i did so.
about 10 mins after i did so the head of hiway patrol in the waikato rang me!!!
He explained that they cant impounded vechiles for 7days and can only do so for 28 days, then the good news!!! he told me that what was written on the impound form was not filled out right and according to what it says and snice i held a lience and was notintoxicated at the time my bike shouldnt of been impounded at all and that i can go pick up my bike right away and free of charge and that the police are going to front up for the bill!!!!!!
So if you want free impound get anyone but hiway patrol to impound your bike, because the rest of them dont know how to do the paperwork!!!

what did youd do for them to want to impound it in the first place?

Why would I want a by steed impounded... free or otherwise?

Your vehicle CAN be impounded for 7 days... for example - forensic purposes after a hit and run, failing to stop/pursuit, to name a few.......

The cops will try and pull all sorts of bullshit on you, much of it not remotely within the law, but the thing is if you agree to it they can and will just do it. They are masters at this game and they will have you believing almost anything.
It's easy to play the same game in return. Deny everything and anything, and politely refuse to discuss it. If they say they are going to do anything with your bike, tell them "dont touch my bike!" If they say you have to accompany them somewhere, ask them "am I under arrest?" If they say "its our policy to take this particular action" then ask them "what section of the law gives them the power to enforce this policy."
There will be lots more. Lotsa thinking on feet required.

The only good point in this post....
Try "refusing to accompany," (when you are not under arrest...) say for example, a breath test... You will get another charge laid against you.
Yep, you are a dangerous bastard giving advice like that...

same happened to me with my zxr, cop had charged me with dangerous driving, which you cant impound a vehicle for, and hadn't selected a reason for impoundment on the form, total cock.

But seriously, what was the reason for the 7 day impound??????? Someone, supposedly on HP (which are usually experienced BTW) stuffed up, which makes it hard to follow what happened since it is a state secret, apparently....

Not to mention how he like to take things "International" when a cop rubs him the wrong way. Edgecumbe's idea of international must go almost as far as Matata!

I just read that thread.
Two point come to mind - Im sure that the postings cannot be used. How could they tell with any certainty that the postings were from the defendant (one could easily argue coincidence) and most people arnt posting under their real names - eg: spudchucka doesn't actually chuck spuds and dangerousbastard is only dangerous if your stupid enough to follow his advise.
The second point is - Assuming that a copper DID take the printouts in - thats really, really bad form. KB is 99% bullshit - people have a laugh and type shit that they would never do in real life all the time. Trying to use it against people when they are up on charges is really bloody low and you should be ashamed of yourself.

Well I think it is poor form too for a member to bring such a thread to the notice of the prosecution. However, this is a public forum, anyone can read it, and print it out. So apart from a breach of perceived manners - which happens all the time here, we can't complain. Don't post anything you want to keep private.
Also, I understand the reason the police knew of the thread is because an officer was named or identified in it. That changes things. Quite possibly he was defamed or brought into disrepute, the point being, none of us really want our identities broadcast online with all the BS that goes on here. Thats why members use made-up logins.

Either way, best people don't publish shit on here if they don't want it to bite them on the arse.
Whilst I am unaware of Police using material published on here, I am aware of at least 2 cases where insurance claims have been denied as a result of "information" being published on KB.
