I'm on Waikanae Hill.

I'm pretty keen on these rides; whats the pace like? I'm on a VTR1000 however only just got the bike and only just got my full (in other words I'm really a learner legally on a big bike). I only own a bike for the purpose of weekend rides etc. How many people usually turn up?

One other thing that sucks is I ran the bike dry after only about 200ish kms!! Had to go door knocking for lawn mower gas to top up so I could get to a gas station.... <_<

Couldn't say for sure mate but from what ya read the thursday night rides can be rather quick (don't mean ya have to ride at that pace)
The wednesday night sounds more like a pootle over the hill or wherever it ends up going !

If your looking for someone to ride over and meet these guys either wed or thurs i'm always keen (from next week on)

The pace is only as fast as you go mate, there is often 10 or 15 bikes there, and we all ride at different speed on the hill. Nothing too stupid any more, but the days of old were way beyond dangerous at the pointy end of the pack. Which is why it has a bit of a rep as us being a bunch of wankers on the road.

Was an interesting ride...... maybe next time I will loose the training wheels?

On a serious note, the attitude was good, the fact the 'hoons' had a big fat arsed tourer tagging behind, (and an FJ1200) the group just allowed for the 'lesser' handling characteristics on the twisties. Thanks Guys (and Gal) :chase:

Great turn out. Never seen so many bikes going no where. Shame we didn't make it over the top, it was quite nice to have the back sliding instead of the front for a change.

Some people on near new Italian v twins need to htfu though.

when we turned around on the hill we should have regrouped and had a small discussion as to where and what we were gonna do to save all the split ups and riders going awol over upperhutt.

Harden the fuck up. It rained, we had no contingency plan was all.

From now on, if it rains half way to someplace, the contingent is...EVERY MAN FOR THEMSELF.

Given this new rule, the last ride went exactly to plan. :done:

When the plan is changed by the front runners, as it was last night, then one of the said front runners is to yell the next destination at the rest of the group. The every man for himself rule then takes over.

Well the Tuono has developed an oil leak and has been renamed the Aprilia Celica as "celica's all over the floor".

It's booked in at TSS for a look see on Thursday so I doubt it will be fixed in time. Plus the forecast is rain all week, so I doubt even the Met service can cock this forecast up.

Well the Tuono is Tuofo aagin this week. What was thought to be a Clutch cover gasket leak has turned out to be a dodgy water pump oil seal. Can't blame the mechanic as the weep hole is in a sod of a place.

He's a good friend of mine and a workmate.

I hear he's stable. His left femur was pretty much screwed and has just had his spleen removed.

I'll be visiting him tomorrow.

Yeah I had heard the same.

Good to see he is relatively ok, cause I saw a bit of what happened and it was a big off.

Glad to see he will recover. Could definitely have been worse.

I can't think of a more stoopid place for the car driver to do a u turn. That was just mental.

Please pass on my best wishes for a speedy recovery FlangemasterJ.

So what exactly happened? Which way was Craig traveling?

Will do Deano.

So what exactly happened? Which way was Craig traveling?

The car which u turned appeared to have come from the same direction as Craig (over the KG bridge), pulled into the road onto Harcourt Werry but then u turned back across the road in front of Craig who was then coming over the bridge.

Craig was coming from Kelson lights across the KGB.

Just checked his profile. Hows the bike?

By all accounts he was shitting himself with half a dozen bikers running toward the scene. Then again, he was lucky the impact was in the middle pillar rather than the driver's door or else he would have likely joined Craig in a visit to the hospital, or worse.

Someone added a tag - when I had a look it was in bold, indicating that I had written it, which I hadn't. I didn't think the tag was very appropriate either.

Looks like someone has added it from my computer while logged in, or they know my password.

I am not sure if I am posting it at the right place, but I know that Henry goes out on most Thursday nights to ride. To those who know Henry (Triumph Daytona 675), he has had an accident earlier today - @ Paekakariki whilst out with Steve. He is in the Wellington Hospital ICU and is suffering from serious injuries. He appears to be stable now - but he is very unwell.
Henry's told me all about the fun rides so I know some of you guys - although just through names. I am Henry's partner - should you wish to pass on any message - contact me. Edna Phillips 027 687 2969. I know I will be beside Henry's bed for the next few days .. or however long it takes.

Regards

As motorcylists we take the risk every time we hit the road but I do wish Henry a fast recovery fingers crossed we see him back on the road again....

Tomorrow night - My days are all messed up too.

I'm not sure if anyone will be out - I have a lot on at the moment so I doubt I will make it, but you never know.

Hi Guys
I have been overwhelmed with all the messages I got for Henry since my last post. The text messages and phone calls were all appreciated. Thank you all for the kind words, and I have passed them all to Henry. I thought I'd give you an update:
Henry is now in the ICU of Christchurch Hospital. It will be days (probably a couple of weeks) before he gets transferred to Burwood. Please know that all messages are welcome; same number: Edna - 027 687 2969 . 021 78 22 15
Thank you for all your support.
Have fun but be careful out there. Regards, Edna & Henry.

are with Henry. Again I myself haven't yet had the pleasure of meeting him but certainly hope to see Henry back on the road so I can. Its always a coin in that whenever a motorcyclist comes off or is involved in an accident it is a sad time and one of great concern for family and friends, the other side is the great coming together the motorcycling community shows and how belonging to a club of forum helps as no doubt every word of these kind messages helps the recovery process that little bit more.

Again get better quick mate and hopefully you get a chance to see this forum showing how many people are thinking of you.
Regards, Gixxer-King

Thanks for the kind words. The sad truth is I will have to work this evening. I had a great time on the Wedensday night ride yesterday though.

Enjoy your ride and be safe.

No. The Thursday one you ride at your own pace. If your pace is considered fast, no ones going to lecture you about it.

I think I owe someone on TRNTR an apology for my slightly dodgy overtake tonight. Probably Deano or atleast someone on a Repsol.

I fell into doing just what I bag others for doing, overtaking where bikes can approach quicker than cars towards you.

Anyway, I'm sorry if I startled you. It was NOT what I intended to do or where I would normally overtake. I was out for a gentle pootle tonight and was quite happy following that SUV up the hill with no intention of passing him on that spot, when all of a sudden the back passengers waved to me. I mistook it for a "go ahead you can pass us" wave. Hand signals were my weak subject at Scouts.

So I had to make pronto back to my side.
