View Full Version : 'Drunk' mum caught dropping kids at school

What the fuck is this (http://www.nzherald.co.nz/nz/news/article.cfm?c_id=1&objectid=10534394&ref=rss) shit?!!

So mumsie gets pinged for blowing three times the legal limit, right. Do they arrest her? Take her car away? Remove her licence? Nope. They say "Carry on dearie. We see that you have to get the kids to school so go right on driving".

Next day, same thing. This time she blows 695mg. Still they won't take the car away from her.

She "will be allowed to continue to drive until she appears in traffic court."

In the meantime the woman will be allowed to drive her car "if sober".

WTF!!? She's a drunk for chrissakes!! She's an addict who has clearly demonstrated that she is incapable of taking a warning and making sane rational decisions. She's not going to change her behavior all of a sudden because an authority figure has told her to. As such she is a danger to the rest of society each time she gets behind the wheel of a car, not the least of which towards her children.

Apparently police "had to work within guidelines and were not in a position to suspend her license or confiscate her car." Well actually I thought they had those powers but OK, maybe not....

Obviously not all the facts of the case are laid out in the article and maybe there are some mitigating factors here but it sounds absurd.

Am I missing something here?

Welcome, enjoy NZ with it's weak-as-piss laws and putty-wristed judges with limp-cock sentences.

Ohhhh ... at a guess this chicky has been doing this for sometime now! And had been getting away with it!
What moron would get in the car, the following morning, after being busted the day prior, and do it all again??

Surley the first time she would have been carted down to the cop shop, after dropping the kids of at school, to be processed. How else would there be reading like that!
Alarm bells should have rung immediately having a reading like that at 8.30 in the morning!
But nah, morning ritual of skulling 3-4 glasses of wine to kick start the day and say "Hi" to the coppas again.
I hope CYFS get called in on this one.
This is a huge warning I hope she takes heed of before she skuttles her kids friends outside of their school, then have a lynch mob after her.
I pray she cleans up her act!

That women obviously has some major shit going on to not only take the risk of driving but also to have children in the car as well - twice. The media must surely have missed something:confused:

Thanks for bringing that up, the thing I find "funny" is:

"Mr Murton said the incident showed that compulsory breath testing should occur at all times of the day and night."

For what?

For the consequence to be to toss a danger to innocent road users (and own kids) back amongst us again, the level of bac and frequency shows shes a severe danger.
Sadly high levels of bac are not considered to be a problem in NZ.

Assessing a danger on the roads is not just the frequency but the levels!

Im having a go at educating the polis, to assist in their policy making decisions for action towards recidivist drink drivers for elections!!!!!:Pokey:

I'll be interested to see whether she'll fall into the 5% sent off for alcohol assessment, or the 95% that are not assessed at all.

Bad "luck" for anyone thats gets in her way in the mean time.

REALLY, really pissed off.

Got a drunk driver who crashed, had passed other drivers in dangeous spots before hand.

Got convicted of dangerous driving and EBA. (No previous)

But the judge really ripped into him, said the driving was some of the worst he had heard of.

Got a total of 200hrs community service and 2yrs disqually, fairly soft penalty I thought..

The tosser appealed, got a lawyer to act on his behalf.
Ended up on appeal with 120 hours c.s and 10 months disqually.

I wonder why I even bother........

Strange ay? I read stories and read good dressing down by judges and then the sentence doesnt reflect whats said! All drinkdriving offenses seem to be lumped together as low level offending..

I hear the section 65 review is in front of Annette King, they wont tell me the content as the content cant be published until a decision is made

And I hear Chester Burrows has made a general sweeping speech to nats mp's in regards to policies for drink driving (Bet ya thats lowering bac, the answer to all our problems..need a sarcasm smiley) and recidivism has been mentioned, theyve told me policy will be released "soon" nobody wants to release their hand yet....I'll keep prodding, inquest next month so they'll need to have an answer..

People like you and Speedie work in some of the most unpleasant conditions doing some of the hardest jobs in society and receive little thanks, but you are appreciated. The sentences handed out by (some) moron judges on the other hand defy comprehension.

Top fine for first and second offence is $4,500 - but most of the time the fine is near to what they 'blow' - i.e. a reading of 675mgm = $650 fine.

Judges in NZ are weaker than a week old tea-bag.

If justice was true it would be them and their families that would be the victims of drunk drivers.

Hammer drink drivers, especaialy for the second and third etc offences...

I have a new position in NZP, my biggest regret is now I won't have the opportunity to 'ping' so many loser drunk drivers.

A comment I use to hear "Ah man, I've known you for years, I though you were my mate, how can you do this to me"

MY reply use to be "Don't be a loser, I never put a gun to your head and said 'drink eight big bottles of beer', I never put a gun to your head and said 'get into your car and driver'.

So many said "You're right eh, I shouldn't have done it eh!"

A mum of a student of mine used to come to school drunk all the time. After a few years of this, CYFS took action and the mum is off to rehab. She came to school a few weeks back with a huge black eye, smelling of booze. The mum told the daughter that the social worker is her new mum and that she is to call her mum from now on. Tragic stuff.

There are three kinds of ppl on this earth Dave ! Pussies dicks and arseholes !
(Great line from some comical movie)

Made the hell trek the other night ! Walked home from a mates place after we had consumed (hate to count) copious amounts of alcohol !
Took me a good two hours to walk home, (well it seemed like it with two steps forward and 1 back) Me and the dog, no leash so had to stay on top of controlling her as part of the walk was SH1 !
Was in absolute agony yesterday cause of it (backs rooted with ostio) Thinking back, it would have only taken a couple of calls to find a sober driver, but by then i was in she'll be right mode, it aint that far !
We so need a dial a driver set up here in hicksville !

Yea, god forbid an attempt at listening to issues that actually affect NZ'ers, and acting upon it.
However, its worth givin em a prod, it costs nothing and its a bloody good time of year to give it a crack nige.

Wasn't my licence or car as i had neither that night, but morally i wouldn't expect him to have to get me home ! I had 4 choices, let him run me home (bad choice) ring round (not into bothering ppl to help me out when it was my choice to go there) stay the night (screw that i like my own bed) or walk !

The first thing I thought when I heard this was, atleast she is taking them to school.

The things some children have to go through due to parents is disgusting. CYFS drop families all the time, with no reason at all, and no explanation to the family. So teachers and RTLB's have to go through the process of reapplying all over again.

I hope this woman stops what she is doing, or maybe someone at the school realises it is her and takes the children to school for her.

In the UK recently a woman was charged over £700 in fines for putting her rubbish out on the wrong day (she moved it so her child could play safely in the garden- most peeps only get one collection per week!!!!) Yet some lovely person who killed someone whilst dangerously driving got fined £58. Go figure. Rubbish has a higher price than a human life!!!!

Well spotted...!!!

Blowing over 650 gets you a 28 day immediate licence suspension.

Getting pinged again pissed a second time would mean she was driving while suspended, so she would have had her car taken off her, as well as being charged with the second EBA and driving while suspended....

Yet another nice story from the media.... Good on ya Harold...!!!
