View Full Version : My bike is better than yours

Biff

Ok - so we've all got our own idea as to what we look for in a bike, what we want and what we like. As do we all like having a dig at other bikes and makes, even though we all secretly love most bikes.

But the fact is that my bike is the better than yours….....well I think so anyway.

If I could only own 1 bike and 1 bike alone, then I can honestly say that I wouldn't have any other model of bike in existence today other than my Super Dooper Blackbird.

Here are 10 reasons why I wouldn't own any other (single) bike:

1. It looks gorgeous; often turning heads and gathering a crowd.
2. It's silky smooth.
3. It has awesome acceleration and very, very fast. Yet very user friendly.
4. It is very comfortable, especially over long distances.
5. It's very comfy for pillions.
6. It's a Honda, and I think Honda's are the best built bikes (subjective I know).
7. It has a 24 litre tank, so it has an excellent range between motion lotion stops.
8. It's relatively economical to run.
9. It's a dream through long sweeping corners and has great all round handling.
10. It's mine

Incidentally - If I could have another one bike in addition to the Bird - It'd be a TNT.

Now please tell me why yours is the best.

Harley riders need not respond to this thread :Pokey: as you do not qualify for inclusion in this discussion.

Oh ok, you can. Providing that you start your response with the words:

My name is (place name here) and I apologise for buying a Harley. In an attempt to seek forgiveness I would like it to be known that I would like to buy a proper motorcycle, namely a (enter bike make and model here). Because (enter reasons why here).

Because it doesn't have the gorgeous high-mount Satantune pipe and the single-sided swigarm that the VifFerraRi has.

And it doesn't have the V4 PhwoaaRRRR!

Or a cigarette lighter plug.

My bike is pretty nice, I guess. For a two fiddy.

I can name about 20 motorcycles that I'd prefer to own, but the Gummint says I'm not allowed them yet.

In fact, now that I think about it, I can't think of any other bike wot is legal for me to ride that I'd prefer over the Zeal! I honestly can't. Not even a shiny $15,000 Aprilia RS.

And I got this lovely lump of shiny cherry-red satisfaction for the princely sum of $2,500.

Nyaahhhh, nyahhhh, nyahhhh!

I get to ride every sort of ROAD bike imaginable and I can honestly say (ever heard a salesman say that!) that the best sportsbike on the plannet right now is the GSXR1000K3/4. The R1's a good attempt, as is the CBR1000RR but neither have the "motor" the Suzuki's got. The ZX10 has more balls, but isn't quite as rideable.

The best V-Twin I've ridden has gotta be Deanos SP1 but don't tell him I said that.

Best cruiser is without a doubt V-Rod. Would love to say FXDX but it don't have the pose value of the 'Rod. And that's what cruising's about.

Anyone who disagrees, can get fucked. :Playnice:

Well, I'm not going to say the FZR is best. It's not a bad bike though, and despite the fact that I'm two to three years away from getting another one, I really don't know what I'd get to replace it.
The R1/GSXR1000's would be fun, but I wonder how comfy they would be. Definitely better handling, so that'd be nice. Probably scare me shitless at track days. Insurance must be pretty bad.
The 600's would handle even better. Same riding position questions. And they would lack the grunt that I love so much with the 1000. Couldn't be blowed dropping 2/3 cogs everytime I wanted to pass.
VTR would be cool, but the tank range would drive me nuts. Plus I did a training day at Ruapuna once and lined up against a VTR about 4 times for a drag start/ heavy braking excercise. Despite babying the FZR clutch and letting the VTR get well ahead, the FZR would promptly inhale the VTR once it was under way (que spluttering from Dangerous :sly: )
The weight of a Blackbird concerns me- the FZR is already 'too heavy'- they are a good looking bike tho
But then I did a breif ride with Glen on his 'Busa. Only slightly heavier and MUCH more power- I'm not used to watching bikes casually accelerate away from the FZR. Not the prettiest bike about though. But the ZX12 (ZXR?- I loose track!) similar power to Busa, same weight as Fizzer, nicer looking than either. Could be an option. But then you have to insure it and I can only imagine what it would do to rear tyres...
Just as well I've got ages to think about it, eh?!

I done seen a power curve dyno printout hanging on an early 90s 250RR at Red Baron peaking at 41. Dunno whose dyno it was, what type of dyno it was, etc, though. They feel like 40 to me. The weight of a Blackbird concerns me-

I know what you mean Tony, when I saw it's weight on a sales brochure it concerned me too. Then I took one for a slow ride around the city and was amazed at how well balanced it is. I even pushed it around while walking along side it in order to get an idea as to how easy to control it was. In short - very manageable. The Busa on the other hand was far too heavy for my liking and was far more hard work to control in slow traffic.

Yep, the seat is pretty close to the pegs on the ol' FZR, and yep, she's a bit of a stretch to the bars. To be honest, when I tried an RSV and an R1, I found them pretty uncomfy around town, but better at open road speeds 'cause the shorter reach to the bars allows the wind to hold you up. I've thought about putting some more padding on the seat to raise it up.

Aaron, is your R1 standard? I saw a dyno chart (from PBS) for an 04 R1, and it got to 150 odd. If yours is standard it will confirm my belief that much of what you read in bike mags is BS that the manufacturers tell them to say. Nick plotted my Fizzer on the same chart- the ol' FZR beats the R1 to 120hp, despite having badly out of balance carbs.

Biff Baff- the weight thing really only concerns me in terms of tyre wear- I know a good modern bike is going to handle better than I need it to. But the FZR wears out fronts pretty quick, and chews it's rears pretty hard. I put it down to the weight it's having to move. More power and more weight could only be worse? I'd hate to pay the running costs for a Rocket III!

Well I fink that my 2-fiddy is good (well any 2-fiddy that can g past 18,000 rpm and still have a bit a fun left in it). Your GSXR1000 or R1 still can't do that.

BTW... The best CBR250 (imo) was the MC19 ('88 and '89) highest torque at lower revs, and also had the HPs (45, where as the 91 onwards RRs only got 40).

Still I'd rather have a litre that'd go out to 40,000rpm, but then again I might just be dreaming.

Have to agree there, took a mates FXR150 for a spin yesturday, should have seen my face when i jumped off it and started pushing it into doughnuts, cheap thrills.
Basically i think all bikes fall into 2 catagories, the ones that are the best at that time in your life, and the shitters

I like my bike because it suits me perfectly. Its comfortable and fun, handles like a dream and rides like the wind. I wouldnt mind getting something a bit more speed like an R1 or a more stylish one such as a Harley or Triumph. But I dont think i will ever get rid of my Virago.

Ahh, but being a Honda, it will be well down on the HP it could actually produce (or would produce if it was a Yam, Kwaka or Suzi). Honda has a habit of making bikes that fall well short of their potential (engine wise) in street form. But then they also have an uncanny knack of making them so you bolt on a few HRC bits and they turn into world beaters. Ducking for cover now...

For my next bike, I'll be eventually getting a Honda 2005 CBR1000RR. But up until then I will have to agree that my 400cc is not the same calibur as the blackbird.

Valentino said," ez no problemo, I can win easy on thes"
Colin said " Fucken shit, mate, I'm gettin' me a Yamaha"
Max said " Mine ez the wrong colour, I want one of those orange ones"
Seriously.......

or could be they are not built yet......well not for the public.

So you're getting a 3 year old bike? Didnt you post somewhere that it would be 2-3 years before you would be getting another bike?

Honda V5 1200 Production Bike Rumored

By Alex Edge (alex@motorcycledaily.com)

Several European publications have been reporting that Honda is developing a V5-engined 1200cc sports tourer as a replacement for the CBR1100XX Blackbird, to go on sale in 2006. The bike might be called a VFR1200, and it will supposedly feature MotoGP-inspired aerodynamic design.

Rumors say the bike may be the first production model to exceed 200 hp, and if it is marketed as a VFR it would likely receive Honda's next generation of safety features. Honda currently produces bikes with linked brakes and ABS, and there is some speculation that this next-generation "Super VFR" might feature a full traction-control system.

from a website i found on doing a google on V5

:Playnice:
Can I get fucked first before I disagree, or should I wait, I'm confused !!
