Well me and Mrs Quasi were looking forward to a good hard days shopping in Auckland Yesterday, we were keen to get a good start so away we go in the VW VR6 , we were keen to give the VW a good run as we just put a new water pump, tappet gasket and new Engine mounts on it, so it was all go for us.
We took of at 8.00 am for the trip to Auckland so we could start early and beat the traffic, we just gave a WRX a little play and pulled off the H/W into Manuakau, I say to Pula ,"its running really good" a second later the engine oil light flashes and CUT NO MOTOR NO POWER, DEAD !
I think FUCK IVE COOKED IT
Luckily we were right outside the SHell and managed to glide into a Free parking space at the garage (lucky eh? )
Got out scrated my bald head look at the oil level, all was good, but why no power, why wont the car start.
Mrs Quasi hit the phone joined AA ( I hate AA) and we started to wait.
I continued oozing my vast mechanical ability (NOT) out under the bonnet and noticed a electrical connector in a small gap between the Fan and the Extractors that was in unplugged, my mechanical aptitude said to me "this isnt right" and I plugged it together ( we are into the second hour now )
I tried the Engine and BINGO all went, I got some tape on it to hold it all together, burnt me arm in the process which has a bandage on it now, FUCK !!
And away me and Mrs Quasi go, lined up at the traffic lights at Manuakau, light goes green, MOTOR DIES FUUUUUCCCCCKKKKK!!!!
get out push the car back with some trick hand signalls of the throat cut variety to the 7 cars behind me and we get the car back to the garage.
(no one helps you in the modern gargage do they )
I think how am I going to hold this connector together for the trip home ??

BINGO, there has got to be a KBr around with nothing better to do than help my sorry arse, thinkning thinking BINGO Motoracer !!!
I ring MR no answer Paula Rings Motoracer INSTANT answer (whats that all about )
Within a few ......seconds MR TIME and 1/2 an hour real time MR came flying around the corner on FF's trusty stead, knee down, sparks flying roars into a 20 metre stoppie and stops within a 100 mm of the carwash machine
all done with one hand on the bars, in the other a 20 kg bag of cable ties.

Armed with this awesome invention we got the thing tied together and we set of Aprehensively at first but confidently shortly after, YEs we did our Shopping and YES we got home in one Piece
And YES the mechanic from the VW shop got A fucken Rocket for breaking the Electrical socket when tightening the engine mount bolts up and completely failing to Attach the Air intake system to the ENGINE FOR FUCKS SAKE !!!!

so the day was saved. Bi g BIG thanks to MR and as a final comment, it kinda doesnt matter where you are in NZ if you are a KBr you WILL get some help from another member, and that is fucken great !!

Thanks Motorracer :2thumbsup

A big ups to the KB roadside rescue squad.

Did the AA ever show up?

Doubt it, bloody wankers take forever to get here and are generally in a bad mood

But the question is did Quasi cancel the call out to AA?

They (AA) usually do get there in an hour... but if many others were down like quasi then its first in first served..lol. I have used AA a number of times for my car or other people's cars....
I also always ask about how long is the waiting time and they usually can give you a fair idea on how you are gonna be waiting...

But well done MR.. :apint: to the rescue again... does that man ever work....lol.

There is one advantage about a sports bike - ya can carry stuff under the pillion seat... but a cruiser dont have that.... and sometimes carrying a backpack can weigh quite a bit after a while...

heh - Man MR you are cool! - Quasi - if that VW engine is like the one I had, once the connector is fitted properly, cable tie it in place and put it in another pair of cable ties to the bodywork (if it'll reach) I used to have to stop and check mine every 250 miles or so... Same on the 2CV...

Glad it's all sorted. Oh - Chewing gum works too!

That's an interesting story Mr Quasi. Your tale of woe and mishap was a good read. However I must take issue with your use of "inappropriate language". Now I'm by no means a stick in the mud. But if you ever use language like that again I will have no choice but to report you to the appropriate authorities.

I mean for heavens sake, kids may read this thread, and as such your use of foul language by using the word "c-a-r" is fucking disgraceful.

Nah, the problem was (a) Quasi bought the WrongUrpeeen(ActuallyOverpricedBavarian)Car, and (b) he took it to the wrong UrpeenFixatoreum. The ProperUrpeeenFixatoreums don't necessarily cost more than anywhere else, but they generally know what they're doing.
Generally.
Example: Had to have all the fuel pipes and brake pipes replaced on the 205GTi, so I though, "PHARK! this'll cost an arm and a leg!", and took it to Midas (at the suggestion of the MechanicWhoFailedTheWOFInspectionCozOfThePipesBein gCorroded). They had no pharking idea what they were doing, and their "half a day" turned into a day and a half. So the $15/hour I saved was negated by the fact that (a) they took so long, and (b) they fucked up some other things because they didn't know what they were doing. Next time, I'll take it to TheApprovedUrpeenFixatorium, give them my wallet, bend over :moon:, and take my Rogering like a man. Albeit a broke and broken one :buggerd:

3. Today I am an opinionated f'wit.
I concur. Good on ya for being brave enough to admit it. :Pokey:

The Car was is and will always be fixxed repaired or otherwise by the VW Audi agent in Hamilton Garry keith Motors, I preffer to bend over and get done right , just to know it has had the correctly trained "technician" work on it with the correct tools
If the car in your opinion is over priced show me a jappa with the same grunt and performance for less money than I paid for my VW VR6. and some specs
184 KW 0-100 in 6.4 secs. And It has been for many years been a dream car for me, and I own it , I own my dream car , so get fucked

Don't like Japanese cars. Don't own any, just deux Peugeot.
Actually, I do like the VR6, and wouldn't mind one, but in general, I think the Churmin cars is overpriced. Doesn't mean I wouldn't buy one if I could afford /justify it.
Or a Porsche.

In years past I have had an Evo 3 & Evo 6 - no probs with either despite the caning they took - bang for buck, plus the ease in obtaining more heaps more bang with tuning upgrades - can't beat it. Like you say though, I disposed of them.

Hey guys, after reading this thread i couldn't help thinking - you know that list of KB'ers willing to help anyone that's broken down or needs help or whatever in thier area?

Well, what if I was out of town, broken down, and foolishly didnt have that list with me.....(that's the sort of thing I woul do!)....wouldn't it just be kool with a capital "K" to be able to grab my WAP-capable cellphone and go to wap.kiwibiker.co.nz and get the list??? :2thumbsup

Yeah well I'm a technogeek so I think it would be :-)

If Spankme agrees, I have the knowhow and resources to do something as simple as this!

The question is, would people find this useful? Or am i just swapping riding time for computererereing time? :whocares:
