Bret is being farwelled in Wellington at a memorial service on Thursday, details tbc at this stage, we will have a bike cavalcade to escort him to Wellington Airport so Kari can bring him to Auckland where his family are. Bret was a special man, and as such deserves 2 funeral services. Looking forward to seeing you all there.

Unfortunately, I will not be able to attend either service as I will be in the South island at the time.
I have been deeply moved by this tragedy and I'm very disappointed that I won't be there to say goodbye. I sincerely wish all the best to every one involved in the organisation of Grubs tribute and funeral and to all those attending (I'm sure there will be Many) do him proud guys.

But will be a bit challenged finding the place for the funeral. I reckon I can find the meeting place for the bike ride...if you dont mind me following along in the cage....
I can also offer transport to Auckland, and frankly, would be glad of the company... Heading home Sunday Arvo tho....

We will not be able to stay in Welly and shoot the shit with the Welly crew after the funeral as we are leaving directly for the airport. Can someone maybe think of a spot we can stop for 5 mins after Fridays funeral and have a small toast together?

Kari and I arrived back in Auckland about 7:30pm. We waited at the airport to see Grub off the plane.
The Auckland service has been organised by his mother. The crematorium does not do transfers, so another undertaker has to come to pick him up and deliver him to Purewa. There is no way that any kind of procession could be organised, he will be at Purewa, his casket already sitting in the chapel.
This is how Grubs mother wanted it done.
See you all at Placemakers tomorrow, I am off to bed.

Thanks also for coming for a drink afterwards .. there is nothing less that can be said for taking the time to sit down after what I can only think of as the week from hell ....
I pick Grubs ashes up tomorrow .. and on Sunday will be coming back with Wannabiker and hopefully meeting the trailer with Grubs bike on to bring it home ...

Kerry and I are grateful for the opportunity to say our goodbyes to Grub. He was a top bloke, and I'll never forget the encouragement he gave me on that incredibly nerve-wracking ride into Parly back in March. "You can do this, Max", he said to me, while my knees were knocking with nerves, and with that fabulous, knock-'em-out smile of his that I will never forget either.
Kari, darls, the hugs keep coming, in telepathic form, until we see you down this way for puppy love, purrs and plenty of wine.
