Geez, but the old bod's a bit sore at the minute

Having done the whirly-gig splat at Mt Wellington yesterday, fate chose to 'enable' me to do a low-side at Puke, today.

Did two rounds on the Yami. WHAT A BUZZ! Then thought it was time to try out the KR150 (with reverse gear shift). I was doing fairly well for my first time out on this bike. Jesus but it's a speedy little bastard through the corners, and no slouch on the straights.

Had done about five laps and was starting to get a handle on the left-hander before Castrol except, this time my arse was on the KR while my brain (such as it is) decided to tell my left foot we were on the Yami. Boom, did the opposite shift, locked up the arse-end and low-sided.

The only damage was a munted gear-shit, which I demunted in minutes with a couple of spanners, and a few grazes on the fairings; but tore the arse out of my leathers. Thank heavens for duct-tape. :--))

So now I'm high-side/low-side blooded, and a bit sore in many places.

But what a Buzz. And I made some new friends with a common cause.

Craig Shiriffs and ? Stroud were there today.

I watched the speeds they were attaining. There is no way in the world will I ever get within a country mile of those guys, even if I had the best bike in the world.

I think it's good to know your place, but a huge pleasure to watch such skill as those two demonstrate. And when I rocked over to ask Craig a Q about wobbles, he spoke with me as biker-to-biker. Damned nice experience.

I'd respectfully suggest, if you hope to be taken seriously on here, you do a bit of research before coming onto a NZ motorcycling website and refer to one of NZs top road racers as ? Stroud.

Aha, the ever-anal-retentive Katman doing his usual sanctimonious impressions.

What is bike-racing for you, Kat? Like the Destiny Church. I can almost hear you chanting, as you stare at the pics of your heroes on your wall, 'All one God. All one God! All must know that name of the God."

To me it's just another sport in which some seriously talented men get down and dirty.

At the end of the day Craig and Andrew look much the same as most folk sitting on the dunny.

But to the Katmans of the world the Graigs and Andrews must look utterly regal.

You need therapy,Katman.

I need more track time and more opportunities to talk with guys like Craig and Andrew, like normal people talk to normal people. Not fly-wing pluckers like you.

Having met both Craig and Andrew today, and having assessed them, I don't think they'd give a big rats arse if I couldn't remember their names.

But I should. eh? Katman. Cos they're your heroes.

Get a life.

Well maybe they are not regal but they demand the respect of any one who understands their racing achievements.

Obviously you do not!

Gosh, you sure seem to know his name now.

I don't have heroes - but I at least have sufficient interest to find out the names of those who rank highly in the sport you seem hell bent on immersing yourself in.

I doubt they'd give even a medium sized rats arse about your "assessments" of them.

Are you a pom?

Muwahahahaha - self confessed fuckwit (who signs all his personal comments as fuckwit so now I'm forced to call him that!) trying to give people lessons on how to be taken seriously!:killingme::rofl:

Dude - we all think you are a joke yourself - you don't actually realise that do you? It's no wonder you sign everything fuckwit

The man is more often than not called by the name "Stroudy" Anyway.

Why would a man be offended if he was called by the last name, I know I wouldn't be offended by anyone calling me by my last name.

For the slow learners...........

I'm not suggesting the use of the name Stroud was disrespectful - more the use of the ?

Either way does it matter enough to point it out and I dare say, give others a chance to ruin this thread with complete crap?

ah... so that twas you...

couple of tips... 1, don't stand on the track assessing your bike. First priority is keeping yourself safe, then the bike. If you can roll it off the track by yourself, then do so, otherwise, keep yourself safe until marshals arrive to assist.

2. marshals are located at turn 1, or castrol (3/4)... not in the middle of the two. Kindly relocate any future intended incidents to one of the points, so we don't have to run. Thankee

Yes. Quite right. The Track-Marshals quite properly gave me the Billy over my failure to get off the track quickly. No excuses from me.

BTW: I fully "intend" to NOT ever do that sort of shit again. It hurts, and I'm not much into pain.

Hey Sketchy! Look forward to meeting you. I'm pit-bitching for Frosty on the day. The lucky devil is being sponsored into a serious bike for the event.

BTW: For those who ain't racing but want some track time, did you all see that MotoTT are offering a half-day before the endurance? $40

Yours is a most apposite comment, Sketchy. The entire point of my original post was a) to report the event and and then to wait around for some insights from others' with similar experiences.

b) To mention pleasure of meeting a completely natural, top-level sportsman, unaffected by his demonstrable skills.

Then along comes this site's major anal retentive to lead the thread away to yet another Katman-inspired, slanging match.

Maybe I should have mentioned the bloke who loaned me a nut to resecure my peg. I didn't even get his name, but he was in Craig/? Stroud's division.

Imagine that, Katman. I got loaned a nut from a biking impressario and didn't even get his name...Like he cared.

Maybe I should have mentioned the bloke next to me who 'borrowed' some gas, then loaned me an allen-key. Didn't get his name either.

Then there's the bloke who wandered over to ask if I had any tape he could 'borrow'. Gave him the tape. Didn't get his name, either.

It seems to me the crowd were there with one common purpose. To go as fast as possible on motorbikes; none of whom cared one jot for who was whom. It was a one-day, cooperative, micro-community to which I had the ineffable pleasure of belonging.

I'd also like to take this opportunity to thank the organisers. They did a splendid job. Vince ? gave his time to check my wheel alignment and tyre pressures. The scrutineers (whose names I didn't get) pointed out a defect on each of my bikes, then suggested how to effect the quick cures.

Another bloke (whose name I didn't get, but has been bike racing for 20 years+) slapped on a pink vest and spent his time giving me some valuable lessons on the track.

All-in-all, it was splendid day for all...except, maybe for other than the bloke (whose name I didn't get) who binned his R1.

I really felt for him. For those who have binned, even at the low levels of my two weekend experiences, will know that shock can hold you high for a while.

This guy was two over from me. I wandered over when the hearse brought him in. A couple of well-meanings were eyeing his bike and reporting the most dire results of the bin. The poor bugger was due to ride South sometime soon....Like next week! :--(((

As his adrenalin-high (care of the bin) transmuted into an adrenachrome 'downer' (that's what causes the feeling of huge tiredness after an adrenalin high) there's these guys muttering about how the back frame is bent.

Sure it was, but the guy didn't need to hear it at the time, since his Southern biking holiday had just been trashed.

I'm really enjoying being a slight part of these one-day biker communities where the hard-triers like me, and the experts, and all those in between, gather for the common purpose. GOING FASTER THAN WE DID LAST WEEK.

What did you do on the weekend, Katman? Kill a few flies, slowly, and maybe found a quiet, dark little place to whack off?
