I'm not long back from Melbourne, and while there went to a cool dance club - serious DJ-ing and hard-out all night dancing.

I'd be keen to find some quality DJ'd dance music for the summer - especially for playing at night at work - it's hangar doors open and huge stereo for us all summer long!

Especially NZ dance/trance music would be great

Like some hardstyle or some happy hardcore? Was it faster or more aggressive?

DJ Bobo
Fedde Le Grand

Have a rummage through shoutcast.com categories and just listen to some different genre. When you find something you like, google a torrent of it.

I also record a lot of online radio stations - theres some really great suff, and its much easier than searching for individual artists.

Ive got a heap of it downloaded off the net and a few brought cds. Most of the downloaded stuff has originated from all over the world. There is some cool stuff but also alot of IMO rubbish. I used to crank it when I was doing the house work or in the garage working on a bike.

Google or search allmusic.com for 'alfresco soiree', also vol.2. 2 double-cds mixed in Aussie, great mid-to-fast tempo dance stuff. Gatecrasher can be good, although a bit monotonous as each double album is mainly one style. Ministry of Sound (not the one-hit-wonder band, search on album title) is another good series.

Listen to some internet radio of the genre, or buy compilation CDs (like those above) until you find the artists/style you like.

I have shite loads of hardcore.

And trance/dance too - but nothing new on that front in a few years, its too slow

More than welcome to give me a dvd or something to dump it all on for you.

ChannelX for alternate rock, Groove Salad for Ambient/Chill/Sci, many others for your own favourites.

Mate you should get into drum and bass.

I know of a guy (friend of a friend type business) with around 100GB on disk or whatever and plenty of vinyl. Thats what you call an enthusiast

There's a really good Chritchurch based dance music DJ/Producer Tom Cosm who has all his music downloadable from his website for free www.tomcosm.co.nz
It's pretty cool stuff, even has ringtones made from loops of the best bits of fav tracks.
