some time ago, i got pulled up by a cop.
it was in the small hours of the morning after a night out, i was driving a car the wrong way up a one way street after about 7 bourbons at the bar.
cop pulls me over, breath tests me.
alcohol
so i do the blow thing
failed youth
he goes, "your over 21 eh", i go "yeah, so why'd ya pull me over"
he goes, "we pull over everyone this time of night"
he also missed the swan off shotgun in the back seat, however, he checked my reg and wof.
sidewinder was with me.
so is a failed youth driving drunk?

Driving drunk is driving over the limit innit, you weren't over the limit so you weren't driving drunk.
Amazing how pissed you have to get to actually blow over the limit though, innit?

Perhaps the "Failed youth" comment was not in relation to the breath test...?

Most insurance companys forbid "driving under the influence"... not over any set limit. ANY reading at all voids any policy. Worth reading the fine print in any policys you may have...

The phrase "failed youth" as used by LEO's is an intimidatory tactic to scare persons who read positive but not positive enough to be prosecuted. The word "failed" is designed to give you that little burst of adrenalin before you realise what he is actually saying. They would argue that this usage helps reduce drink driving.........pfft I say, if you are legal, then you don't need scaring. You need a positive response to reinforce your "good behaviour"......all they do is alienate themselves from the general populace....really helpful, that......

if alcohol is detected by the BST, the words 'FAIL YOUTH' come up on the screen. the LEO is simply stating 'I know you have had something to drink, but at this time you are under the limit for a person 20 years of age or over. Take this as good advice not to have anything else to drink'
if you're intimidated by that comment, HTFU.

Ok so not a troll. I have zero tolerance for drunk drivers and if sometimes "you are off" means maybe you think you can get away with it tonight doesnt wash with me.

The phrase "failed youth" as used by a 'LEO' is simply because it's what comes up on the tester, its a pass, incomplete test, failed youth or failed general.
To blow a failed youth means you have to have consumed a decent amount of booze, 150mcg +, enough to cause impairment, hence why we prosecute under 20's at that amount. You obviously want Police to give a big clap on the back to people who do drink and drive but remain just below the limit, a failed youth can mean you actually blew 390, one more sip and you would be prosecuted, telling them that means they might moderate the drinking, not telling them means they might have that extra drink thinking that they were still sweet to drive the last time they got tested.
You won't fail the youth limit after a couple of beers, you might want to alter your drinking and driving if your consistently failing it.

My interpretation of troll is someone who makes a post in a thread with the purpose of insighting an argument !
You dont know me, my habits, you don't know if i drink and drive/ride or how/when i drink or how/when i ride !
I know you just trolled !
I also know you have prolly read the post i made again and came to a realisation that you have jumped the gun and PRESUMED i was referring to driving/riding whilst under the influence !
I made a statement being, that sometimes your on sometimes your off and that i would hate to think how far over the limit i would be, just to get a glow on !
If that on its own, leads you to believe that i am a drunk driver, then you are in fact Mad Daisy !
I was in no way condoning drink driving, I was simply refering to the fact that some days alcohol can knock you over, when the breath test would show you as being under the limit, where the next time only a little could put you over the limit but you feel no effect !
Don't know why i am even typing this, oh thats right i'm pissed and at the controlls of a keyboard and Carver started this thread to get this exact reaction happening, because he knew it would !!
Bwahahahahahaha

My mate Pat was a passenger in a car being driven by his girlfriend. He was hammered and she was the sober driver.
They got pulled over by the cops who asked his partner to "Blow into the bag please Miss" to which Pat replied: "Why, are your chips hot?"
The cops nicked him for obstruction, how fucking sad is that....funny though.
It's like my dads mate getting stopped by the cops in London after they spotted him driving erratically at 2am. They bagged him and told him that he was 5 times over the limit to which his reply was:
"That's a relief ossifer, I thought the steering was fucked"
Big fine, no license and a divorce for that one

Not a good thing to do especially when caught. My excuse when blowing 828mg at 4.00 am,no food etc,was I was to pissed to walk sir, cops just pissed themselves.
Judge thought it was good to get a taxi so said he would let me try them for 6 months.
Thinking back over the years the times we did drive and never got caught,or crashed we were lucky.

I was on the piss with a couple of cops once when I was on a course with them and one of them got a breathaliser so we could see who was drinking properly and who was just pulling the wool. I was pretty supprised when I passed (failed youth) even though I was pretty hammered. They said that the amount it takes to get you over the limit varies significantly day to day though.

It's another of NZ'd arbitrary laws, once you blow over 400mg, you are driving drunk and a danger to society (same as exceeding 100kph, though I agree slightly more with the 400mg law).
I reckon you should be able to get off a DUI charge if you can prove you can control the car / bike while at the reading you were caught at! :-p

Yeah - coz it don't exist bro'
This Jewish fella complained to his rabbi coz his son had converted to Christianity. Asked for his guidance. The rabbi said he would ponder and advise.
A coupla days later the rabbi calls on the fella. "I spoke to God - but he says he can't really help as he is having the same problem"
