Probably because it would hardly be the riders fault (in most cases) if something went wrong with the engine on a 3 year old bike with 3500 track k's.. and then be made to pay more

'cause crash repairs can be pretty bloody expensive and you have to add that cost to the hire

which is pretty much what kept me out of getting my old NC30 on the track - needed to commute on it too so couldn't afford to crash it

no different then crashing your own bike, just dont crash.... Ride at 95% and you should never crash.

Tyres are $600 for a start!

If there was someone doing this deal in aussie id jump at the chance

Ha, when I look at what I've spent and am still spending to do the upcoming Tri-Series this is NOT expensive.....

Racing a very competitive F2 bike, with world class assistance = $1000
Not looking at your own bike after you've crashed it = priceless

exactly, so it cost more than taking my nc35:msn-wink:

less if i don't crash

Na because this is a race bike with race fairings, a bit of fibreglass is cheap...

I crashed new zx10 last week, cost me $150 if it were a road bike it would have been a write off...

you need to put more effort in then, didn't your mother tell you, if a jobs worth doing, do it right or not at all.

$150 is a bit expensive to repair a chipped toenail

probably the reason you "crashed"

No matter how good it looks it wont help pay for repairs.

This is the dilemma, I have faith in my own ability but none in other people on the track after my last race meeting. When some moron crashes into you then doesn't even have the balls to come and say sorry, it's pretty sad.

Patience is a virtue.

Better for you to have the culprit wondering why a bit later anyhow.

Quite the opposite actually...

What if someone else takes you out?

That is a risk you run but you can avoid those situations 90% of the time

Go smash the fucker.

Racing is racing, you might be a big tough guy off the track but that little dude can do a lot more damage to you on the track! Not that anyone thats serious about racing has that mentality

That's the way I saw it. It's the risk you take to race but even a quick "hey sorry 'bout that, was my bad" would have been appreciated.

Of course they might not have thought it was their "bad" , they might be waiting for you to say sorry. ? :)

Of course they might not have thought it was their "bad" , they might be waiting for you to say sorry. ? :)Was no doubt it being his bad.
His first time out on his brand new SV in F3 practice(post classics rider from way back). I had just done the Posties practice and went straight out again at the back of the F3 feild for some more laps. Saw this SV trying to keep up with the Motard in front of him. Was when there was a big tyre wall chicane just before the back straight on track2. Well he saw the tyres, panicked, grabbed a handfull of front brake and did a huge stoppie into the tyres. His bike bounced off and took my bike out from underneath me. I was just in the wrong place at the wrong time and accept that.

That was the last round of the PMCC summer series in April '07. Havn't raced since but with Shaun's generous help getting my little racer back in running order I hope to get out there again real soon.

Have toyed with the idea of leasing a bike but there's that nagging doubt about being taken out again and not exactly being in a financial position to pay for repairs puts me off.

In saying that, this bike leasing idea sounds perfect for young racers to learn and make a name for themselves. It has huge potential!

fuk thats a great deal... last year cost me 5k in tires alone and that was doing it on the cheap!

mint, shame i dont have 1k per round plus expenses/damages or else I too would be in... BUT serious if i knew about this 12 months ago i would be 100% in! i mean dong the national series on a competitive bike for a potentional 1k per round plus expenses is worth so much more than the monetary value, i mean for the pure fact that you gain so much skill, racecraft and knowledge from doing these rounds!

how come you didnt post this on my race forum ya ginger ninja! the whole purpose of me building that race site is so information is put about, but no fukers uses it... slack!

As you said dude, NO fucker uses it! There are way to many sights in action already, and not enough time in a day to log on to one and all, but good effort on trying to do some thing usefull
