I really only ride to work and back these days.

I struggle to reconcile bike ownership with paltry distances ridden.

I am constantly amazed by bikes for sale with mileages less than 1,000km per year of their lives. I mean, what's the point?

This year I have been deprived of my bike for over three months, but will still click in a whisker under 30,000km ridden on that bike. Big Yam is due its 80,000km service sometime this side of Christmas. Add to that about 10,000km of two-up riding on Mrs H's most excellent GSF650SK6, and 2008 has been most kind indeed.

Hi I clocked up 44,000km in the last two years on my main bike. Thats 22,000 km per year and about 2,000km to 3,000 on my second bike per year. I don,t use my bikes for work they are just for weekends etc. It is common for me to do a 200km Friday night ride just to destress.

Jantar

Normally I do 20000 - 24000 km per year, however in the past year its only been 7000 km. 5000 km of that has been in the last 6 weeks, and over 1600 in the past 32 hours. :ride:

I'll roll over the first anniversary of Betty's acquisition later this month, and in spite of spending most of the final quarter of the year without a licence, I've managed to put about 27,000km on her.

I'm going to keep her until she's worn out. Best bike ever.

I struggle to reconcile bike ownership with paltry distances ridden.

I am constantly amazed by bikes for sale with mileages less than 1,000km per year of their lives. I mean, what's the point?

Due to the inclement weather in the colder months down here CB & I tend to ride mostly during the 'summery' months, hence my mileage is not that high ( but waaay more than 1000km a year- nearer 10,000)

BUT we are also into hot-rods and yank tanks so they also eat into our liesure time and account for many 1,000s of kms travelled each year.

So biking is not the be-all-and-end-all in this household.

On the Hornet - 7,000, maybe a few hundred more. As its used for my personal pleasure that's pretty much weekends and the odd annual leave day:sunny:

Plus I run up 10,000 in the shopping basket going to work and back and as a weekend hack. And a few thousand more in the 'good' car with the family.

due to working 6 days and week and only not having my daughter every other week i dont get away on the bikes very often apart from commuting to work

only done about 1500 k on the harley so sold that due to lack of use - dont have time to get away for weekends any more and rediscovered how much fun trail bikes are

9000 on the dr350 mainly commuting and the odd river ride

about 1500 on the motard that ive had about 6 months just hooning around the hills when i get a spare couple of hours

just brought a xr650 that im planning to put big miles on in the 5 weeks off i have from new years.........

Judging by the km's that would be you lot I see out most of the time.

TOTO...60,000km's. Wow!

I'm sure there will be a few on here that do low km's. I have a friend that only rides on days where he is guaranteed there will be no rain. He ould do around 300km's per year. When he sells his bikes after a few years they have usually done around 1000-1400km's.

We bought a GPZ250 for my wife that had done 1100km's in 10 months. I then added 400kmm's on the first day of ownership.

Yesterday I met a rider who ahd bought a 12 month old DR650 with 400km's on the clock. It seems the visions of returning to riding and actually returning to riding didn't match up for that owner.

When my kids were younger I could never run up the km's I do now. Two of my kids have just started riding and this will probably drop my km's as well.

If you have a good work commute that would clock up km's as well. My work commute km's are 0 (zero). I work from home. I'd love to be at the end of some deserted winding roads with a commute to work each day.

I have had my scooter for 3 1/2 months, but I haven't ridden every weekend. Still, I've managed to run up over 9000kms on it - meanwhile in the car a tank of gas has lasted over 3 months and there is still over a third of a tank left.

If I keep the mileage up I'll exceed 30 000kms per year. When I bought it there was 3950 on the clock & it was almost 2 years old.

An unfortunate consequence of working offshore and overseas looking for the stuff that makes them move. I was wondering how many Kms a year you do on your pride and joy?

I average 30,000kms annually on my F650GS twin and before I bought my bike I used to average 20,000-25,000kms in my car. Last calendar year I only did 7,800ks in my tin top!

So how many Kms do you do bike verses car annually?

About 100 or 120km per month on the bike and 0 in the car. So 1200-1440km per year on the bike and 0 in the car.

I do 140km a day on the train and 10 in the bus though. So about 35,000 per year on the train, 2500 in the bus.
