None at all mate...and I'm 42...so over bars that are too low etc.
I did around 260kms in distance..and was fresh as when I got home. Unlike my gruts.

Aren't they slower than the earlyer ones or something?

Aren't they slower than the earlyer ones or something?
only due to all bikes now limited to 299km/h top speed, the early ones(1999 models), could do more hence reason busa still has title of fastest mass production bike
But saying that all you need is a 1500ohm resistor to get around it on a suzuki.

As Cajun said...only that they're 'restricted' to 300 clicks. They get there much faster though!

Isn't japan kinda stupid saying "hey you can make bikes go 200km over the limit but not 300":stupid: How fast do they go once de-restricted? Or has the new engine been tuned down mechanically at all?

When busa first came out in 99 was a big who har, about bikes going to fast, and pushing to be fastest bike blah, hp limits/speed limits etc, so the japanese got together to put limits on top speed, before governments made them, sorta gentlemans agreement, same with japanese kw rating in cars.

hehe, mine has no restrictor, ecu tune up and modified speed sensor were all that were needed i think.
absolutely no point making go that fast though. Had a very close friend take it to 343 on the gps (screen shot to come) but 320 was my limit and when tunnel vision hits and the road is a blur, well thats fast enough i think.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but you can conclude that your GPS was in error. 343 km/hr is 213mph (which is somewhere close to the UK record set by a non-street legal turbo 'busa with a long run-in at Elvington air strip). It takes collosal extra horsepower to make even small gains at those speeds because of drag increasing as the square.
Having said that, the 'busa is one hell of a machine, even more so on NZ roads:Punk:

I got to take my fathers 07 on the Taupo long circuit. That was good fun, but had major ground clearance issues.
The 08 feels like the handling has improved, as has the throttle response, and it makes the older model feel like it was retarded at low revs. It's a noticeably better bike than the old model. I was really impressed by how nimble such a big bike can be.

I agree with Blackbird that your GPS claims do not appear to be correct.
Have you changed the gearing on your bike? if your gearing is stock you will not be able to go much over 300kmh.
I see you live in Lower Hutt, why not take your bike to Carterton this Sunday, and do the Cliffhanger Flying Quarter event, and find out how fast your bike really is.
See you there?

so that would mean I go from a 250cc V-twin Hyosung GT250R to a GSX1300R Hayabusa......sounds like a good second bike :devil2:
I don't think he's serious about selling it to me though....and it may be a bit too ridiculous for me to handle as a second bike....it's nice to dream though

Well obviously if you think its too much bike for you to handle then well it obviously is. If you realise on the other hand that many modern bikes, even the 600s can kill you just as quick and that the dangerous nature of a bike is all controlled by you then you will be fine.
Approach it with respect and ride sensibly and then you will be fine. Dont let none of this scaremongering get to you.
on a side note anybody here owned a ZZR1200? How does that compare with its predescessor and the busa?

my take on the busa...
i dont own one, so in that repspect im not biased, but im not a big sports bike fan either
i borrowed 1 from a mate in the uk who funnily enough has 2 of them... fkw,
i had it just shy of a week, where apon i did a daily commute into Edinburgh city center from about 6 miles out,
the commute.... i found it cramped (im 6'4") and the low end torque leaving a bit to be desired, it was lumpy off the gas but when the power kicked in you could get to just shy of 100mph (160kmh) before you had to change in to 2nd gear....... clearly not the ideal commuter :D
any way did a couple of rides to glasgow and back to catch up with mates, thankfully they don't have police patrolling the motorways and instead rely on speed cameras and average distance cameras (take a photo at 1 point and 2 or 3 miles down the road take another photo and work out your av speed) thankfully the cameras are only measured per lane, so if you change lane then you miss out on the fine
the open road..... well she was damn fast i managed 180mph on the clocks but there was still alot more to go,
wind blast wasn't too bad, but i found it a bit tough on the wrists, and after an hour long ride found that i was very stiff (not quite comparable to the zx7r mobile torture rack) but still a bit on the uncomfy side for my liking.
the twisties,.... pretty surprised how good it actually was, felt pretty planted and went round corners without having to convince it too much,
the look.... well thats a debate that could last till the end of time, ..... if i owned one, id be fightering it straight away, not my cup of tea
at all
overall.. not for every one. certainly not for me, but if impressive numbers are your thing and you could bare looking at it each day then a fantastic bit of kit :D

You'll be waiting a while... A genuine 200mph, 320km/h, is not attainable on a stocker. Some mags overseas claimed to achieve it but the most realistic was in Aus on unrestricted model of 311km/h. The Busa had to be modified to reach the genuine double ton. Best in NZ was 307km/h. Only the turbo's can reach 340+

Any chance of a pic of your stead focusing on the tail tidy ? this is the only part I don't like about them... I have tried a ZX14 not bad, but I have heard of & know of a couple of people that have one & have had to replace their engine due to internal issues ( 07 - 08 models mainly ) resulting in lots of $$$$$$ other than that they are happy ... I have always used a K&N filter on my bikes & find them great to use as you only have to clean them out when servicing... pity the Blackbird never went any further than they did as they are a awesome bike, but thats just my opinion :love::shutup:
Cheers

Pretty sure they're the same size pins as an SV1000...which happens to be the same size as an XB12SS. If that's the case...we can use Buell XB12SS pegs which drop an inch just like that! They're cheap too.

I'm in sales. And as far as the track day weapon question goes...it's a hard ask. Everyone is different. I can ride a Busa as fast as I want to go on public roads..even though I could ride a GSXR1000 faster. But I don't want to go that fast if that makes sense. So...if you can ride a Busa faster than a Busa is capable of being ridden at a race track...then you need to consider a GSXR1000. But if not...a Busa makes more sense. Hope I make sense!

I had a wee look today for ya...and for sure it looks like there's enough clearance with the mufflers, and the pins are the same size. XB12SS pegs are about $36.00 each. Cheap fix!
Will this mod make much difference to lean angle before the footrest road warning rods touch? My right ones are wearing, have yet to experience the vibes on the left.

Don't think so. The stock pegs are quite thick, and the 'feelers' quite long...so I think it'll balance out.

Glad to hear it mate.

Perfect sense! I should ride a CBR125RR on the race track in that case...
I'd do the same...except I don't own a cell phone!
:gob:
No worries mate, I will probably get there next Thurday and have no recollection of this at all! Already set a reminder in my phone to turn up!
Where were you on the night of Feb. 1st 2010 and what were you doing there? :shifty:

No idea, but I hope it didn't involve me getting my photo taken whilst holding a card in front of me with numbers on it.

I am using aftermarkets so maybe we look at this on Thursday and see if it will work? If you think it will fit anyway then lets do it. The extra inch stretch from the new pegs will help no end.

Unfortunately, the pegs in question are plain alloy. Maybe we should look at the various options when you come in?
