250s Coro loop: Auckland, AND/OR Tauranga etc. Saturday 20th December

GREEN LIGHT GREEN LIGHT, RIDE IS ON!

<img src="http://www.kiwibiker.co.nz/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=78620&d=1196566570"></img>

Date: December 20th (Saturday)
Meeting: Kopu petrol station, Meet at 10:00am, ride out at 10:20am
Where?: Full Coromandel loop.
Who?: Any 250s. Bigger bikes are welcome however we will stay at the 250 pace.
Why? I'll be selling my bike + will be moving down to christchurch next month so making it the last coro before I go. Alas to catch up with my old old past-250cc friends (Most have upgraded now!) Also my insurance finishes on 23rd so lets rock! :scooter:

*Aucklanders meet EJ at the McDonalds Autobahn at 8:00am to ride out to Kopu*

*Ride will be posponded to Sunday (21st) if the weather turns to shit. Will be updated in the morning.*

This is a fairly decent distance to cover in one day 500km's+ (especially for the Auckland crew) And has some challenging parts of road also. Hence why I am going to mention here that all are welcome. HOWEVER, for anyone who is fairly new to riding (ie been doing so for only a month or so and are only coming to terms with open road riding/ your bike etc) This is not the ride for you, a newbie ride is the one you're looking for.

Anyone who is also keen on pissing around tearing through the group and being a right shit on your bike, is not welcome at all. And if anyone does decide to do so will be told to leave the group.

We want this to be a safe enjoyable ride and an incident free day.

Hope to see some of the riders from the past rides: Midnightmike, Renegade Master, Duckaddict, Ragingrob, Toto, Shingo etc...

Again this time we WILL have photoshoot stop. Some rule will apply but I'll explain once we get there.

Sweet. So thats it, if I've missed anything, just post up here and I'll add it, if people have suggestions for meeting times/places that have been agreed upon by a few members, pm me with the details and I'll add it to the original post. :niceone:

Register here: http://www.kiwibiker.co.nz/forums/calendar.php?do=getinfo&c=1&day=2008-12-20

See attachmentment for route etc, of course there will be more stops for photos etc. :niceone:

Note: See here for past coro ride photos. It will be great to have the same feeling again. http://www.kiwibiker.co.nz/forums/showthread.php?t=66450&page=7

It's directly after the Karaka turnoff, the end of the motorway is Wellington >_>

Unfortunately I won't be able to attend, i'll be working that day, and even if I wasn't I would of gone to Macstars barbeque..

Will be changing the chain on the 250 so i'm gonna be all Smooof troughout the coro.

I'll see how I go aboout fixing up my camera mount again and take some lovely moves of the FXR pantom trough the twisties.

Sugestion for a stop: I'll be Stopping at the LoosBruce and DSS crosses for a few minutes or two as it was recently an aniversery of their trageny.

EDIT: Just realised that the Coro loop is the same day as Isaacs good bye BBQ. Hmmm, I may just tag along for a wee bit in that case (half coro) and then shoot off back to see Isaac off. Damn - 3 great friends leaving us at the same time - Ej, Macstar, and Banzay

Issued at 1:50 pm 18 Dec 2008 NZDT

Saturday
North Island, rain spreading from the west, but only brief falls in Hawkes Bay and Gisborne. South Island, rain or showers for all.

From the weather reports Ive been hearing, sounds like its gonna be nice in the morning turning to rain in the late afternoon then easing back to showers. This can be confirmed by looking at the Rain Radar forecast HERE. (http://metservice.com/default/index.php?alias=rainfcst_7daytas) Hopefully it will be slower moving than expected otherwise it could be looking like a half - Coro for me.

After a re-shuffle of BHS tests, looks like I'll be at BP Autobahn tomorrow morning complete with V4 and GPS. :wari:

Have had a messgae from another KB who has domestic leave to come out for a ride on his R1.

Heard on the radio that there is a low approaching, hitting the South Island tonight BUT this in turn will make the weather on the East (Coromandel is east - right?) be in the high 20's tomorrow. Chance of a shower or two but not as bad as predicted on Metservice. :woohoo:

Holy crap no! It's more like 1km, if that. If you come to Drury, you've gone too far.

If I get enough of my car repairs done before the start time, I might just go along for this ride.

In that case i may pike yet too, will see how alive i feel in the morn. Everything hurts atm..

no, if you buy a carburettor that is KNOWN to fit and work, and also do some basic preventative maintenance, AND don't try to do stunts on your sole form of transport you can't afford to fix/replace, it will be fine

the curse isn't the bike... ;)

LOL, you can't miss your own last ride. Leaky shock? that'll buff right out. Suspension and brakes are for woosies anyway! J/K.
What happened to that Hornet?

I finish work at 7am, so I could probably jump on the motorway and go out to Autobarn for breakfast, then cruise for a few extra Kms, then home to sleep...
Should try to make the most of this restricted licence.
Will see how I feel after 10 hours work....

Thanks to EJK and the guys and gals out there who go off their arses (instead of 'just thinking about it') and endurded the sun, rain and wind.

It was a pleasure to ride with you guys, this would of been the first "group" ride I have been on in a long time that no-one cut each other up and kept themselves under 140kph. The pace was fine with me, just the occasional car or slippery surface to bring the speed down to 80 - 90kph. It was great to see everyone riding their own ride.

Thanks everyone who took part as it wouldn't have been such a neat ride without you all! Well done EJK, goes to show you have some respect out there!

What the bloody hell have you boys been doing to your poor GN's? I'm bigger than both of you put together, and i thrashed the living snot out of mine and she never skipped a beat...

So whadd'ya reckon Choco, is Banzai up to our old pace of getting saddlebags and pegs down on every other corner all the way to the cape?

Heh just foundout that cable come undone at where it attaches to speedo lol

Nha I don't go hard on corners compared to you two. I can't scrape pegs on open roads(occasionary in urban riding tho :p)

Can't i'll be down south raising money for the Choco's Big Bike and Associated Expenses Fund (anyone keen to donate?)

He's getting there!
I think with a few three day tours he'd be up to scratch

The mighty few rode the roads
Where others feared to ride

Their spirit of riding showed,
And their courage is not shy

Three cheers for these few
showing biking colours true!

Thanks for the awesome ride guys. I'm quite surprised at the pace that we keped on the last stretch from Kaiaua to Clevedon, you all did quite well.
Everytime i stopped to let you catch up you were all there before i could turn to look.
Look forward to riding with you all again. See you on the Northland ride.
Thanks EJ for the photos.

Wot a day!! I gained more bike handling experience in that first hour on the loop than i have over the last two month! Was awsome! Thanks guys SO much! OH!! and i achieved my first knee touch keeping up with some of the big boys in some parts with my kwaka 250. Time to trade in for a leather suit with knee sliders me thinkz!! :)
Looking forward to seeing you all again on the northland loop, and this time i'll get some sleep before hand. :p
