I have hairy bits on my rubber bits!!!!! This is my first ever full set of brand new tyres and of course right on queue it is of course raining here :Oi:
Lately I've been getting lots of comments about how much MORE noisy my bike is. I got used to it and infact grew to love the roar at full throttle however decided that given the looseness of the rivets it might be a good time to take the muffler off and repack it.
SO took it off the bike, drilled out the rivets and emptied out the packing... NO WONDER IT WERE SO LOUD! Check out the pics
Of course being the hoon that Sully60 is he just had to start the thing up without the muffler on....it didn't sound much different than it has been sounding with the muffler on it!
Then on with the repacked muffler....oooooo it has that lovely gargley VTwin growl back.
NOW I just need a fine day and I am off...yeee haaaa I love holidays - now to decide where to go on it so I can enjoy the new tyres and much better sound.......

Never ridden on Contis so I look forward to experiencing them for myself.
Only ever ridden this bike with old worn Metzelers and Super Corsas so I am just looking forward to having some decent rubber under my arse.
Looks like a tootle up to cheer on the Welly Bucketeers is in order now :niceone:

OMG!!!!
The bike once again goes exactly where you are looking (not 3 feet wide of that) with almost no effort on the riders part!!!
Very little steering input required :gob:
Just about ended up on the wrong side of the road going around right hand corners a few times.
AND so much easier to flick about at slow speed.
The muffler repack has also improved the way it runs down low too and it does sound yummy - not as loud  but YUMMY nonetheless :niceone:
Bring on the next fine day

See....
No3.The Kopu bridge...470 meters long single lane built in 1927..If there is a que it is acceptable for bikes to go to the front...Some go up the left..

Clearly I deserve some brownie points for spelling queue right even though what I should have typed was cue. BUT queue is far more interesting to type!
As I touch type at 100+ words a minute I tend to type the version of the words that I use most at work and queue gets used far more than cue in papers and other such communications. Another example that I regularly type incorrectly is 'their' - used far more than there in my line of work. Mostly I do register that I have typed the wrong word but when I'm on a roll and typing hard out I don't stop to correct till the end and as this is KB sometimes I don't even bother to correct...I get to be as loose as I like on here *sigh*
Waiting for road to dry out a little - new rubber scrubbed and at the ready .........the little girl waits

100wpm?? That's impressive! I'm lucky to do 65 after 3 years of shorthand typing at school!
Hope the weather clears for you soon - I'm very jealous. I've managed to convince hubby that I need a bike, but he's slower than treacle when it comes to researching & purchasing....unless it's a 748 for himself of course! We cannot just buy the first one we look at, sheesh. Hopefully I'll be joining you on the roads soon though :2thumbsup

Do some research of your own my dear :niceone:
I have spent far too much time sitting at a computer.
I like to freak Sully out by regularly typing an email or post while looking at him while I talk to him about something else at the same time....now that is some serious multi tasking is it not?! I think I might have a tumour or something

Well I used to know what I wanted, but the budget doesn't stretch that far these days on one income. So now it's about finding a compromise between affordability, reliability and ridability/ride enjoyment :) I sorta know what I want, looking at early 90's inline 4 400s. I guess I really need to get out there and ride a few, huh?
I used to do the same thing with workmates and the touch typing. They look at you like you're an alien

I'm sending you some bling for your avatar. God bless Brunettes.
The conti's are frigging great, but here for a good time, not a long time. They are very pressure dependant - I found running them a little lower than other tires gives me the best grip/feel combination.
Mmm. Cupcakes.

I found running them a little lower than other tires gives me the best grip/feel combination.
Yeah that's what the gentleman who sold them to us said.
We'll try that, I've started with the recommended pressures for the bike which we've always run and it does feel a little tall around the crown of the tyre if that makes any sense. So dropping a couple of psi might help with that.
I'ma just hava to get over my a longa time love fora the Supercorsa's and embrace zee new rubber from zee Deutschland jah?
Mmm. Cupcakes.

I'm sure someone will peek above the rim to see if it's not a round and about way of slipping one past the goalkeeper! I'm pretty sure that someone will wheel away the facade and expose this thread for what it is ..
pure unadulterated filth! :woohoo:
Anyway, got to have a release valve for our ramblings innit? After all, KB is renown for the hot air and not to mention the mention of lines of poultry on tire edges.
Good on having new rubber, either the bike or the bedroom - both improve performance and reduces anxiety that something will go belly side up!
I think I shall stop now :o

ooooo aaaaaaa it were lovely! I loooooved it!!!
Rubber is very nice. So little input required to turn it in and like it is on rails. Seems too to soak up the bumps a lot better. NICE and Much Improved
It did turn in a lot nicer once we had let a little air out of the front as had been suggested.
Leathers are really armoured AND really comfy - no more hip cramp on the 50 I'd say! I can roll up into the foetal position easier and I'm even still able to draw breath! Thanks Nasty
Muffler sounds more respectable...though I still say that I DID like it when it was roaring out of the loose rivets  and through that thin smattering of Asian belly-button fluff
Thank you weather gods for shining this afternoon so I could go try out my new rubber :niceone:

I've gotten down to about 30 PSI, and for track days, a little lower even, maybe 27 or so.
I've got a Pirelli SuperCorsa on the rear at the moment, and it grips for longer, but the breakaway is much sharper. I'm waiting for more Conti Race Attacks (softs)...
I'm staring out the window at Scoot right now. I'm going to head down to Welly for a few days in late Jan to hang with friends, will have the new rubber on to do that with.
