Triumph has officially unveiled the new Triumph Thruxton 900 café racer at the Milan motorcycle show.
The bike was first seen in MCN’s spy shots (see link on the right), but now the details have been confirmed, with the current Bonneville’s 790cc air-cooled engine enlarged to 865cc and tuned with new cams, carburettors and megaphone-style exhausts. Named after the racing circuit in Hampshire, the Thruxton pays homage to the firm’s podium clean sweep at the Thruxton 500-mile endurance race in 1969.
" The 2004 Triumph Thruxton remains true to its rich heritage, " said Triumph product manager Ross Clifford. " With clip-on bars, rearsets and megaphone silencers, this bike is the first Triumph café racer of the modern era. "
Other details include telescopic forks, twin-piston brakes and the tubular steel twin cradle frame. Colour options are jet black or sunset red, both with a checkered-flag tank graphic and silver mudguards.
