Anyone got space for a bike in their garage or want to share one?
I figure it's gonna be stinking hot so a spot out of the shade could be nice. It's just me and the bike as I'm riding down so don't need much space.

Really enjoyed blackbuell's new buell 1125r (thanks man), what an amazing machine! Best handling bike i've riden, (sorry saul, do try one!), awesome chassis, awesome slipper clutch, awesome awesome... i'd love to have one, real hoon toy. Nothing like the old buells at all.

I missed this day. I did the Kiwitrackdays trackday on friday and had signed up for this one too, but maybe I got a bit of heat exhaustion on friday or something, I wasn't feeling too good, so had to give it a miss. Sorry MotoTT.
On a positive note, the new suspension (0.85kg/mm springs, emulators and 20wt oil and an '04 zx6r shock) in the sv worked well on friday as did the Metzler M3 tyres :).
Hopefully I'll make the next one.

Thanks all the MotoTT crew for another cracker. Third time and I already can't wait for the next
Was cool to meet a few new KB'ers (and non KB'ers) and see some familiar faces along with some rather lovely bikes.
Thanks again kiwifruit for giving me the learn for a few laps. Think I'll tape the speedo next time so it doesn't distract me. Don't know how to break the habit of apexing late tho. Guess it comes with time.
Motards in 1 and :scooter: in 4 made for good spectating. They sure get around the corners quick.

yeh, i learned him good while he was on that 4hundy!!
spent a bit of time tail-gating Fruity & Uncle which was helpful; especially having extra time on those slicks to get 'em nice 'n hot! had a couple of whoopsies from both, so figured it was time to back off.
great day for a first ride; sooooo stoked with the bike, i love it/her!!!!

Another super day as usual.
Betty and I are always learning. Yesterday, we learned that:
1. Quasi and sinfull are faster than us, and we need to try harder.
2. Trying harder shouldn't include stuffing it up the inside of the A1 corner and running sinfull off the track.
3. If you run someone off the track, you should probably put the hammer down and get away from them, lest they come back with an extra helping of red mist and learn you with many learns.
4. Group 1 is by far the nicest place to be at a MotoTT day.
5. If I ever sponsor a superbike team, I'm hiring my riders via www.bride.ru.

Thereabouts. Have we met?

Thanks. I was stoked to pass a tzr 250! I was like "WTF I must have really got a good drive out of that corner, or else he's just playing". Were you actually letting me past or what? We were around the same speed for the most part so I was glad there was someone I could tag along with. Those scooters were a bitch. Not too hard to pass though, just had to out brake them, they had stock vespa brakes I think, lol. Was about shitting myself when a guy on an r6 passed the scooter, then I passed him realising im way past the 100m mark needing to slow down into the corner, put it down a gear with the back squeeling and starting to sway a bit, carried on fast, only to have the r6 pass me on the strait... But 350 extra cc's will do that, lol.
There was one pass I did in one of the later sessions through that S corner after the starting strait and I remembered thinking I may have cut you off a little too close so i was going to say something in the pits but figured you must have been okay because you didn't crash. Was that a little too close or was it all good? I did get that one time on the sweeper onto the back strait but every other time you just dissapeared down the strait and it took me half a lap just to get close again

I hope the next one is just as good as this one was. You didn't end up seeing a triumph or something, some big bike go around, did you? Are you going to do group 4 or 3 next time? Passing all the trafic was the biggest part for me (the pace was easy enough), and sounds like the scooters were for you as well. I think you can change down on the day if you end up getting in the way so I might try that.

The final ten-minute free for all? Yeah, sorry bro, I had to go do some top-secret packing up before Jody left with the bags. And the one before that I was kinda busy trying to give the learn to sinfull and Quasi but getting handed a learn instead.
But, well, c'mon. You had all day before that. It's not as though you didn't get a sporting chance. Might just have to have another crack next time after you get those issues with the bike sorted eh?

Ah perfect conditions for an exhilirating track day (race). The Mega Few showed up in force. Half of us were at Taupo racetrack and the one that weren't were at operation Desert Storm tearing up the dirt tracks!
I had a great day with no incidents, aside from loosing the rear apexing out of turn one. I kept on the gas, although the inertia had already displaced my feet off the pegs. The end result was a spectacular 3 meter drift, the only black mark in that section of track
Had a good few laps with Quasi and the blue gixxer race bike. Pete and Rod did extremely well too. My boots took a beating and so did my left footpeg.
Twas my best track day yet and probably my quickest to date.
Nice meeting you Icekiwi, you have a georgous bike.
I dressed up as Alladin for my last session and dropped down to group 2 for lack of being able to use my knee sliders due to the costume... hoping for some funny pics.
I heard the big 'kaboom wham slam thank you mam' behind me on the infield when the girl on the CBR 1000 lowsided it on the sweeper... I gave it more just in case. Sorry luv, my Yamaha has this effect on other bikes, they get weak at their knees. ;) You were riding very well until then.
The guy who had the mega video camera and got a lot of footage, do you mind telling me who you are. I'd very much like to get some of that footage off you.
Hit the Taupo hot water antural springs after the track with a few beers and smokes, was all good!
Thanks everyone and thank you again Motot TT (Sue, Uncle and Fruitloops) for being part of my day.
I love u all.

Agree about the photographer taking photos later in the day.... photos taken in the morning tend to have better colour temperature though, on a fine day.
Also agree that you may get more track time, almost certainly because there are only one third of the riders there which is great for track time. But after doing as many trackdays as I have its also good to catch up with other addicts and this is best done at a MotoTT day!!
However as for organisation, MotoTT do the best job, best briefings, best procedures if the unthinkable happens, and in my opinion, best rules. There are more MotoTT personel at the track than any other company and that helps too. MotoTT also organise the weather MUCH better.
I have no problems with Steve and will always do his trackdays if I can - He's an enthusiast giving back to his sport

You could try turning earlier and being on the gas by the time you go past the wacky seal patches, mebbe? That's what I started doing towards the end, and just going to the inside of the patch and already on the gas like you said. It could have just been the "crystalised layer" the guy that was doing the briefing mentioned because it was in the second or first session and my bike hadn't been moved for about a month. She'll be back on the road in April. I'm pondering a Pre '89 Post Classics bike for after that. Racing's addictive. And you're quite right; the GSX1400 ain't no racebike.

You could try turning earlier and being on the gas by the time you go past the wacky seal patches, mebbe?
Absolutely.. I don't brake into turn 4 at all. You want to set your line from 3, crack the gas through 4 (or maybe coast) then brake for turn 5.
If I get it right I ride the 2-3-4 combo using only throttle control.

Nah bro, you can gas it hard once you're over the crest, plenty of time for a good couple of seconds of WOTing before you have to brake for T5, just let the rear wheel do its thing. Edit: I'm guessing that doing that a bit too early might've been what unhinged the mail-order bride on the CBR thou...
Too easy to get right up the arse of peeps there and line up for a pass around T7/T8, so you gotta keep the pace on lest you be given the LEARN (tm).

 if only it was that easy. I've still got some wrinkles to sort out on my lines before I push harder on brakes and gas.
I know I've got heaps of braking in reserve as I had to haul up a bit quick and late on T1 and T7 to avoid passing people on the inside when they slowed down more than I was expecting.

Thats me (as JRandom said) on the blue Gixxer, my first time out there on a 600, bit of a step up from the RG150:banana:
i was chasing someone then ran wide on turn 1, mighta been Quasi? i assume he has 'quasi' on the back of his personal gear rather than the "QUASiMOTO" on his regular stuff?
the bike's pretty stock incl suspension etc and felt good apart from the seat being way too had, got a bruised arse today, and i broke the fibreglass just behind the front seat brackets which probably didnt help, i gave someone a hand to load their Gix600 onto their trailer and they'd also broken the plastic just behind the seat, said he hit a bump when the front was off the ground... mighta done something similar myself? sadly had to return the Gixxer back to glen (sketchy_racer) earlier today

I had a great day with no incidents, aside from loosing the rear apexing out of turn one. I kept on the gas, although the inertia had already displaced my feet off the pegs. The end result was a spectacular 3 meter drift, the only black mark in that section of track
Me too, except I didn't catch it  Fortunately the damage to the bike was minor - peg, gear lever, clutch lever, indicator, paint. Now to get that Quasimoto Racer9 suit that fit like a gloove!
You wouldn't think that a 400 would lose the back under power - until you combine ham-fistedness with a GPR100 rear that's seen too much communtering

Yea, suspension is competely stock so I'm not surprised it started to get squishy over a bit of time :shifty: the front was diving a bit more than it should have and bottoming out which i guess caused the chatter in the front and rear coz turn 1 is a bit bumpy where i was entering it, then like you said ended up doing rollin stoppies into that corner  bike was roughly set up for glen whose alot lighter than me

Sounds about right. You can turn in really hard under brakes into that chicane if you trust your bike's front end.
The very best I can do there on the 1400 is to get on the brakes just before the 150m mark. I'm about halfway through fifth gear at that stage.
Speed along the back straight at Taupo is all about how much drive you can get out of the sweeper.
Edit: Although I gotta say I wouldn't mind a set of Yoshi cams to help me out along there and after T9...

It's the only corner i'm finding my bike sliding the back on exit is the sweeper (not hanging off enough yet i recon)
The entry to the first corner was sommit adrian (chris's bro) showed me on a very early track day, if ya come in from a wide entry ya can brake all the way to the second turn, which i'm doing and changing down as i drop into the turn (aint got that corner right since they put the resin down lol) but ya can get the drop on many a rider by braking late there !

I don't know how does motoTT do that, but their guarantee of sunny, hot day worked again! I am yet to see a motoTT track day that was not in perfect weather!
Awesome day, most kept their bikes the right way up, with black round bits pointing down...
I had a ball, dog-fighting with KC, on his new Honda. Times are coming down rapidly now, but so is the rubber of the almost new (by date!) Super Corsa Pro on the rear of my 1098. Third track day, and I think it will live for another one for sure. Trying for second one might be probably pushing it too hard - instead of the standard compound (survived 3k, including around 5-6 track days), I went for softer compound this time, SC2. Absolutely awesome rubber, sticking like shit on the blanket. If somebody else would only pay for it: 5 track days = 1000 km. But what a 1000 km those are!
I think I will be giving some slicks a go next time, to check that urban legend that they give you better mileage on the track. My bike hardly ever sees the road, since I got bitten by the track-day bug...
But other than that, absolutely awesome! Hope it went all well with Star Insurance guy visiting.
Thanks again, motoTT!

Would have been good to follow a lines rider at a slightly faster pace through the corners, I was still not too sure about how fast I can go into corners without it starting to bounce around or anything, number 4 in particular. I'm probably just being a puss though, should just keep it completely wide open next time!
I'll have to ask one of the lines riders next time

I had a ball, dog-fighting with KC, on his new Honda.
!
When he wasn't going cross country ya mean !
As for the slicks ! My sentiments ! I think to keep up to your spagetti beast i need more corner speed lol

In deed, he was trying to make up time cutting few corners in a rather unusual way... At one point I was wondering if Honda started producing an RR lawn mower, LOL
But he kept the rubbery part pointing down, so all is good.
Are you going to stick with the group 1 next time too? I want to make sure I've got someone to play with in February...

sounds almost like me, used to much rear off back straight and compression locked to heavy, ran straight over the grass and poped back in before the pit straight, shaved few secs off my lap time!!!!!!@!@

Nope. KC preferred corners 2 and 5, what I could see... He was actually quite good on the one off the back straight. Or I sucked on that one, it's all relative...
So, group 1 it is in February! I can only but feel sorry for the guys that can really ride, with us providing for moving road blocks...

I had a great day with no incidents, aside from loosing the rear apexing out of turn one. I kept on the gas, although the inertia had already displaced my feet off the pegs. The end result was a spectacular 3 meter drift, the only black mark in that section of track
man this happened to me too, twice in session two,was getting on the gas too soon,i stopped it after the second one because i knew it would end in tears....we'll it did end in tears, just not like that.:crybaby:
still love the trackdays and cant wait for my next one!
peace:2thumbsup
