View Full Version : Idiot on R6 in CHCH

Yesterday at about 2.45 pm, while driving over the Styx Bridge with my kids on board an idiot on a blue R6 decided he would ride between 2 lanes of traffic, at speed (about 10 cars) with a pillion on the back. Your black singlet made you look even more of a tosser.

Raaaarrrrr. Splitters should die. Hahahahahaha.

If you hate them that much just leave them alone to mess themselves up. I'm guessing you're not used to splitters in CHCH.

that he was lane splitting? or maybe didn't have all the gear? Possibly that he had a pillion?
Or is it just that you were stuck in traffic wishin you were on your bike and he reminded you of the freedom it brings?
Your rant is a little flawed as you haven't said that he was dangerously lanesplitting pulling wheelies while the pillion was hangin on for dear life ( is that not the Carver way???) (no offense to Carver without him we'd have no benchmark)
I certainly like to think that if I was lane splitting (which I do all the time in CHCH) that kids in a car would be happy to see a large motorbike roaring past them giving them a little of the excitement we get from pursuing our life choices. Nothing better than seeing the grin on their faces

Geeze you lot, I agree with Muppet, it is worth a comment, who gives the R6 the right to put a pillion at risk and other road users when he splits traffic at speed? and not wearing the gear doesn't just mean he suffers if he comes off it means everyone involved has to see the mess...

My partner and I have just come back from a ride to Tauranga from CHCH and the traffic was fairly well behaved... however 800ks into the ride a couple of Harleys decided to split the traffic...we were in a line nose to tail travelling about 70km/h a bit frustrating,..edited(on a two lane highway) but a nice day and time for a look around... when two Harley's pass us travelling about 80-90 km/h down the centre line with traffic approaching in the opposing lane..they were both two up... they niether considered their passengers nor the fact that a cager could have easily moved slightly right to get a better view still be in their lane (unaware an idiot was approaching), and cause the bikes to swerve right into the opposing traffic.... this continued for a time which included a bend...a bloody worry and total disregard for others... half expected to turn up to a mess... so no it's not about whether they upset Muppet, or didn't wave or whatever:argue: it's about what everyone else has to experience in the process... and if the maneouver fails it's about the shocking mess we all have to deal with.

Maybe he was taking his pillion to a hospital to help save a young child's life, as he has a rare blood type, and is the only one in NZ , that can help.

Maybe they were gay Iranian lovers being chased by their families , who had just burst in on them rooting, hence why they had a t shirt on, and they had to run for their lives.

Maybe they are just normal people that do things abit differently.

Maybe they are someone we should hunt down and kill for doing such a bad thing.

and the kids, my god the poor kids :baby: ,
I hope they don't watch much TV as-well , you know all the sex and violence and stuff,

Video games, my god, they are bad as-well .

I didn't make it obvious that we were traveling north at about 60 km/h on my original post. Anyway regarding me telling other people how to ride, do you think that this was safe? How do you think that looked to the other car drivers? Regarding the singlet, the point was lack of gear not the colour. I stated the colour so that if the rider was on this forum, he'd know I meant him. By the way, he wore no gloves either. This sort of riding in a built up area just adds fuel to the fire that seems to be building up against us in the papers and on the talkback lately. Whether its our fault or not, we're on a hiding to nothing, riding like the R6 rider did, makes it worse. My two cents worth.

Holy crap. Splitting 2 lanes of traffic.... At least he was not splitting 3 lanes of traffic.... or splitting hairs like the original post.

Maybe it's that fact that he did it at speed? Not much point in splitting if you are going the same speed as the cagers, is there?

I guess his real crime is the fact that he was wearing a black singlet. Now that is a crime! :shit:

There are many here who agree with what you are saying. Unfortunately there are just as many who think you're talking a load of shite. Their only comeback is "nothing happened, so what's the problem?" These are the ones who are oh-so-terribly-sorry, condolences to the families-at least they died happy doing what they love etc. when it all turns to custard. Yet they can't see that every time "nothing happened" when someone rides putting others at stupid risks it only reinforces these people's sense of their own bulletproof magnificence. I mean, if you get away with something often enough then surely it must be ok to do......??????
Best develop a thick skin if you insist on voicing an opinion which goes against the "I'll ride how I fucking like and you can't stop me" brigade.

The WAY some people ride their bikes can be problematical but, if someone meets the legal requirements for what they WEAR - its their choice.

Thats kinda the whole point of being an adult in a free society y'know? Ya get to make dumb choices.

So what is everyone's problem with people who don't wear all the gear all the time? If they get messed up then its their problem only, and it's not like wearing 1 piece A-stars and a $900 Shoei reduces the impact they make in a crash so it wouldn't affect you any differently if you were involved in a crash with them.

Not really the point I was trying to make. For the record, half my family is cops, the other inherited half is in the fire service. So yes, I do feel for them, but as long as these people are doing everything under the law that they need to (i.e. wearing a helmet, holding the correct license), then I'm not going to criticize them for it. It's not my place.

I am one of those ATGATT buffoons, if i'm just going round the corner i'm in boots, gloves, jacket and helmet.

I never said I ride carelessly. Merely that I don't give a toss what other people choose to wear on their own bikes as long as they are complying with the law.

I'm a rider, who doesn't care what other people are wearing. Hence the 'careless rider' bit. It was all in context.

I think the issue was a couple of lane splits where the traffic was virtually stationary and blips of throttle changing into lower gears.

He then proceeded to make a giant cock outta himself by yelling in my face.

Dude, you were a fucking star and throughly amused both myself and the bystanders by throwing a wee tanty on the footpath. I have taken absolutely none of your rant on board and I hope you have calmed down a bit now.

He was just pissed you weren't wearing the compulsary jonny reb boots and fingerless gloves. You know you aren't a biker without that essential apparal!

I had a guy on a new Harley (I quite like Harleys BTW, I once owned a Buell)follow me through town (CHCH) this morning. When I stopped and parked he pulled in next to me removed his hat and began to give me a bollocking about my riding and the 'revving of my engine'.

Stay upright mate and although you said youve had a few offs recently (so I should be more careful too), I hope you dont throw it down the road again anytime soon.

Penis.

..did he have 'live to ride' shirt on?..

It was sad and amusing at the same time. He struck me as a newbie 'back to biking' type guy (I've nothing at all against them in general) in his late 30's who thought he might save me from myself. Prolly a nice guy in a different environment, he just got a bit excited and silly.

When his 'advice' fell on deaf ears we went down the 'you're a fucking prick' abuse path.
The best part was listening to him try to justify his outrage by suggesting guys like me cause him to crash.
Now this particular comment I was interested in and when I asked him to give me an example he told me it was 'none of my fucking business'.

No worries, his blood pressure went up...I was thinking about lunch.

You should have followed him afterwards untill he stopped and ripped up a big smokey burnout across the road from him.

Should have described the context of what I was getting at, I did get the context of your post, I was merely pointing out to the others on here that actually think what you posted.

In the thread about Coromandel crashers it was brought up numerous times with quite a few references to 2007 statistics. I can't be bothered dragging it up though... Assuming by the nerve I hit you are one of these elderly suicide riders, and thats fine. Just warn me by PM when you are about to disembark on your meals on wheel's poker run...

Twat...

He was obviously a sworn member of the fun police - shame on you for not respecting his authoritah!
Half way through his rant you should have said: "I'm just going to go have some lunch, but you can stand here yelling at my bike if you like".

I've seen riders pull stupid stunts, ride without the right gear, etc. I tend to think - what an idiot riding in a T-shirt (or whatever), but I shrug and figure it is there skin and I go on with my life. You can act with as much disregard as you like, I ain't your mother and I wont come 'round to your place to dress you before you ride.

black singlet

It could have been worse, it could have been an old person. Honestly I think it should be illegal for old people to go sleeveless!
