So I got done by a speed camera on the bike. I was thinking D$#@ ^^&*% but then realised I was heading toward it soooooooooo

WTF will they find/get me

No number plate. They will just get a nice shot of me on my bike.

Might be a silly question and is self explanatory but does that mean I can speed on oncoming speed cameras? lol

If it was a van then the operator may have written your plate down as you went by, but if it is a camera post then why not do a 200k run past it for fun hahahahaha

Was it a permanent camera or van? If it was permanent then chances are that it wasnt even inside. You can tell by if you can see an orange light inside. The cameras are worth the price of a cheap house so they get moved around alot.

NOPE don't count on it hun. I have had two speed cameras catch me. Was it a stationary one or a van one?

With reports of you being very photogenic (nice smile) I might suggest you write and ask for a copy of the photo. You may have to give details ... where/when/time etc... but I'm sure it will be worth it....:innocent:

Touch wood and watch your speed from now on

ya safe as houses before the credit crunch, the operator just sits inside the van twiddling with his whatsit, if it was from the front no chance of getting done. Of course if ya make a habit of it the cops may start to keep an eye out for someone with ya bike and riding gear

I dont know how true this is but I got told by a friend that speed cameras in a parked van on the side of the road can take photos from vehicles going in either direction, but I was always lead to believe that the only took photos of oncoming vehicles which would mean that if that was the case because motorbikes dont have front number plates that you would be safe. Is this right?.

Twice I been done by the van as I have been coming towards it...within the same week dammit! So NO if a van don't count on not getting a ticket

rottiguy

they take the picture out of the back door so if the van is on the other side of the road facing toward you as you go past it can snap you from the rear otherwise they can't see your number plate so pretty hard to know who you are.
If it's on the same side of the road as you with the rear door facing you, no chance of seeing your number plate. Unless of course there is some new type of camera that can take pics around corners, you never know of course, maybe like an Xray and it reads your plate from the tire side, a lead plate on the inside of ya number plate should stop that :)

Another thing to consider is they have to prove it was you riding the bike and not a friend as its pretty hard trying to identify someone when they are wearing a helmet or do they disregard that and try to fine the owner of the bike whoever was riding it at the time the photo was taken?.

I can tell you on good authority they don't give a shit who was riding it. The ticket still goes to the 'Registered owner' and they won't transfer it onto the 'actual' riders license record

The registered owner gets the letter. You have to prove you weren't at the controls. The onus is on you to to prove innocence...

Distinctive paint schemes can be used to help identify some vehicles... and their owners...

Yes that makes sense even if it sounds a bit tough. A vehicle has broken the law, the registered owner is liable for the fine, the justice system has no interest or record of who actually pays. So the only record you have is owning a vehicle which committed an offence. Nothing to do with who was driving. No demerits involved.

they cant find me wahhh wahhh wahhhh
and the more I think every speed camera on lamp post cant get me even when they get me

Don't you have to declare these though - like for consideration of insurance etc

Those are Court convictions you have to declale, not traffic infringements...

Speed cameras are only a pain in the wallet... as are speeding tickets.(But WITH demerits)

If thats the case about them not giving a shit about who was riding the bike at the time the photo was taken then it makes you think twice about lending you bike out to anyone for them to ride cos who wants to be hit with a fine for doing something they had nothing to do with. Apparently you dont lose any demerit point if caught speeding thru a speed camera parked on the side of the road, am i correct in saying this?.

Correct. You don't get demerit points for speed camera 'infringements'.

Went past a speed camera van at 160 on the Taupo rd a month or more ago.
Guess I would of got the ticket by now, but it would of been a frontal shot.
What a shame.:niceone:
