Im thinking about getting a cheap set of fairings for my CBR600 any advice? This guy: http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=196917503
can provide for a good price however I have concerns that he might be a tad dodgy as he says he'll be getting them made however im fairly sure he will just be importing them. Has anyone brought a set off ebay?

Well, depends on why you want them?

They're made in Hong Kong, they're about $250USD on eBay IIRC, would be worth checking out yourself though. As I understand it from other customers, the places over there are quite reliable, and the freight is reasonable, so you'd be better off buying direct.

Fitment is supposedly iffy, although the ones I've seen weren't that bad. You might have to redrill some holes etc, and even drill some that aren't there. One guy on the RGV site spent ages building up the missing mounts and realigning the ones that were there, to get them to fit perfectly.

Once upon a time it would've been the perfect thing for a Kiwi, cheap and needs a little bit of TLC to get right. However these days Kiwis seem pretty useless at DIY stuff in general, too scared to give anything a go, and have forgotten what basic tools are and how they work. Long story short, if you're a doer, then you'll be sweet. If you're already thinking ooer, this could be a pain, then better off looking elsewhere. They're cheap for a reason, but with a little wiggling and thought, they'll be fine.

Of course, depends on why you want them... if it's a spare set of track plastics, then they're a bargin. If you're looking to build a show winner, then they're not for you. If you're looking to tidy up your bike for minimal outlay, then they might be perfect for you.

Of course, this particular model fitment may be a sweet fit, and the above may not apply at all... of course, to know for sure, you'll have to buy them! Good luck

I have brought a set off ebay, and one thing i didnt like was the shitty paint job, the fairings a very thin, and are not of a good build,

Fittng them is easy, if you have the tools, and can count to 10, but take your time, and things will come togther, (sort of)

But as for someone selling them from here on trademe,
id be very wary,
handing over this sort of money, and the product isnt even
1. in the country, and
2. your dealing with someone who hasnt traded before.

( at least with ebay , you can see how much feedback, a seller has and can judge for yourself)

I have asked this seller a few questions, he says $950 ish for a set of zx12 fairings, but takes two weeks to makes,

so you'd have to sit and what for at-least 1 month, hoping you things turned up. (fuck that)

What they said.
I'd just add that "Just Fairings" might be another option to consider - their prices are dearer than the ones you mentioned, but they're local, and they're likely to be better made. (Having said that, I've no personal experience with them).
One more option if you don't want a complete set is to just buy the genuine Honda bits you want from one of the dealers in Interdweebland, such as Ridenow Motorsports. I try not to buy Honda bits from local dealers now if I can help it, as (a) they're too dear, and (b) they're almost invariably "not in stock, 3 weeks ex-Japan, please pay up front". That sort of 'service' sux.

You're correct in thinking this guy is dodgy.Trademe rules state "the seller must have item being sold in their posession" or something along those lines.

Many scalpers were caught trying to offload e-tickets they didn't have in their grubby lil mitts!

Be wary!:shifty:

I rang this guy about fairings - and he said they stock everything except the K4 GSXR fairing which funnily enough is what I wanted??????
