Ok I hope I dont get flamed too much for this but I thought I would throw this out to the general populace here on KB.
I work for one of Aucklands local councils. Namely Papakura.
I have just been assisting one of my fellow employees with a computing problem and we got onto the subject of motorbikes.
My council, I have been informed, is well aware of the growing number of new and returning bike riders and have been contemplating setting up some sort of learning and safety skills training. The problem is, for them, contacting bike riders who are new or returning that may benifit from such training and those bike riders who would be able to assist in the training.
I have told the person I was speaking to about this site and the vast ammount of experience and enthusiam amongst the members. I suggested she contact the moderators with her ideas and ask for their input.
Because it is a council they are interested in their own area, but surely this could have a knock on effect if sucessfull.
I have also told her to contact BRONZ (Ixon).
I know a lot of you have the safety of bike riders very much at heart and this is an opportunity to possibly do something with regards to this.
The person who was speaking to me asked the very simple question
"Where does a new bike rider go to learn to ride?"
I was unable to answer it to my ownm satisfaction.
So what I am asking for is comments, ideas, suggestions. I will pass these on to the person concerned.
Anyone interested in assisting could PM me with contact details and I will pass these on to the person concerned also.
She has left for the day but I will ask her tomorrow if I can post her contact details on this site so that she can be contacted directly.
Come back to me my fellow KBers and show that we have our fellows well being at heart.
Moderators please contact me, Mentors please contact me.
Chris
