Got the motor in the old girl today, shes starting to look like a bike again.

Still a lot left to do, but shes getting there :niceone:

Comments? can't decide on a tank/sidecovers/front mudguard colour.

OMG!!! KIIIIILLLLL EEEETTT!!!!!

still cant decide if that headlight is hot or out of place eh... At least she is coming together though!
I reckon the original matte silver went well on the tank eh, not too stand-out, and suited nicely

Haha that caught me off guard. You should get a single seat cowling. That would look sweet.clipon's too, not harley bars

Nah got to carry the other half around etc so twin seat has to stay...

Clips ons are too low, the bike has a really long tank the distance from seat to bars is really long clips ons just wern't viable...

Had to mount bar risers to the rgv clamp to get those on. and even then its still a fair reach.

I hope you are going to go with another can.
That one will be way too loud for the road.
If you leave it on it will be a :Police: magnet.
Remember, I could hear you coming up the valley long before you came into sight. and the other locals always commented on how loud it was.

As for the headlight, makes it look more modern from those shots, I like it.

Yeah i'm really happy with the red frame it suits really well.

Yeah that headlight definately changes her. I might go that one for now, but go for a more fancy aftermarket one later along the same styling.

Youll need different springs in the forks. Mate of mine did the exact same conversion on his Kat 750.
Given its only us old farts that actually know what a katana really is I'd suggest putting the fairing off of one of those jap import Katana 250's or 400's on it. Stick with the retro look.
You might still get pinged by a testing station and need an engineers on the forks/brakes but if it looks origonal the chances are less

Yeah hopefully won't have an issue with testing stations...

Nah not going to run a fairing, leaving her as is for now just stock round headlight.

Do some research. The 550, 650 (skidmarks one) the 750 and 1100 came out about the same time altho if memory serves me correctly the 650 and 1100 came out first with the 550 and the 750 joining them the following year. All very cool bikes and i want one...

Now i want one (a 650 that is) with a red frame...

Thats a pretty god damn long list man.......

- USD front end (forks brakes wheel etc)

- Riser bar mounts to replace the clipons for USD front end.

- Painted frame

- Painted motor

- New plugs

- Check and rewrap of the wiring loom (cable sleeving over it)

- Painted the exhaust

- Painted fuel tank

- Vapor digital dash

- Heated grips

- New seat cover

- USD headlight clamps (thanks go to renegade master for those)

- Carb rebuild/clean/polish.

- Pod filters.

- Painted triple clamps

- New steering stem bearings, swingarm bearings and wheel bearings.

Having no license to enjoy it...

Priceless.

LOL yeah for the katana, zxr's one is fine... but see how the katanas one has to sit in the wrong place?... zxr ones have a side spout, the rgv one i have now comes out the bottom so has to sit higher up etc...

Have recently seen people mounting the direct onto the master with the spout coming out the bottom... but would prefer it was a bit more bolted to something.

Anybody got any thoughts
on tank/ front cowl/ mudguard colour, i'm thinking matt black with some red pinstriping?

Looking fuckin nice dude, I like it. I would say that you should do the tank black and red, say red across the bottom of the tank, and black across the top, sort of matching the seat, and divide the colours along the horizontal contour line of the tank, and maybe some red pinstriping in the Headlight surround? and maybe a subtle bit of pinstriping on the front gaurd?
Anyways, looks bloody good anyway.

With all due respect <_< it's gone way beyond any chance of colour choice making it look any worse.

From another Kat owner, I reckon it is looking good.
Keep the silver/red/black paint scheme, just paint up the headlight silver and fabricate a cover for the rails at the rear of the seat/license plate area, even then it doesn't look too bad as it is

Yeah i definately have to figure out something for the rails... may modify the stock mudguard etc to use its sides the link up to the numberplate... tie it all together etc.

To the person who added the tag about my mother...

If you are going to say something like that. post it.

Because then i know who you are and can take appropriate actions...

But putting it in a tag where i cant identify you makes you nothing more than a chicken shit.

Needs different handlebars. I'd say go MX low or no taper bars. Will make it look more aggressive.

Should pick up a set of stock FZ1 bars, they are quite cheap. They are flat, but have a slight bend back toward the rider. real nice.
