I have JUST returned home and had a very, very long shower, now feel slightly more human!

Yesterday was bloody brilliant, couldn't have asked for a better start to the whole KB experience. Points of note:

Mad props to TOTO for organising the ride and making sure us L-platers had a pace we could match without feeling like our brains were going to leak out our ears. You're good company over a sausage too! :P

Best bit for me was the ride up to the lookout point. Scenery so good I could've crashed the Kwak with all my gawking at it, lovely corners for me to practice my corner-fu on, all good.

Cheers to Fiz for the all back to his as well, was really nice to sit, chill and talk bikes (and general bollocks) to some new people. Lovely to meet Sharry, Cain, Badger8 and Mark too! :D (and boys- I'll deny anything I said whilst wankered at 3am on the deck- it's all lies! )

Being overtaken by a scooter (OK, a 400, but still!).

Watching the two G-Men give us a lesson in sensible, mature riding

being mean to poor Reido. He took it like a gentleman though...

Got pics which I'll upload after I get some food- haven't eaten all day!

to the boys that did get singled out, can you ask the nice officers to explain how they identified your number plates whilst you were admittedly on one wheel on the other side of the road?
After a bit of time to think it over, we should be sweet (I hope) the twat has tried to do both of us for the same thing, because he only had a couple of digits of the plate of the offender so he obviously doesn't have any idea who it was, so really can't prove anything. Any lawyer worth half his money will get the idiot laughed out of court :wari:

DH - the mono you do is really impressive - maybe will come for a lesson when I'm up to it

Cherio for GunnyRob and YMR6L for taking care of the quick group too

Thanks To MadBikeBoy for providing some menthor advice and looking after riders too, on ya Mike :)

And also a BIIIG thanks to Badger who was TEC for the Learner ride, and took care of everyone

Badger (or was it Fizbin) - what happened to the sand shoes you "obtained" - ask if someone misses them or you wanna keep to yourself ?

No worries cuz, always happy to chill out at the back and help out learners. We all gotta start somewhere, and it's nice to be able to pass on my learnings and experience to the new flock

i 'acquired' them, stuffed em in fizbin's pack. So if anyone left a pair of sandshoes behind, fizzy has them. If not, he stole someones shoes! :bleh:

I blame Gremlin for being a bad influence. :bleh:
pah, blame yourself... everything was PG13 until you appeared

The ride was fun and I didn't notice any norty cage behaviours myself, although there were two young bikers entertaining the slow ride with their riding antics :ride:  :ride:
I think the highlight of that was convincing you that it was all Gwinch's fault... and you completely believed me... right up until I explained he only appeared joined in from the 2nd stop at Dargaville, south. :killingme

Ta TOTO... good ride, enjoyed myself. While you guys were swimming and stuff, I was off checking roads, finding paper roads and discovering unmapped roads. Found that a lack of tread on the rear tyre is fun, but useless in gravel, but didn't come off despite plenty of wheelspin... umm.. everywhere. Then I managed to fall over when my foot slipped on the station forecourt, in front of everyone. A+ for effort :blank:

And afterwards you came over and let me know about my front light playing up, and gave me some good advice on cornering in the country, put it to use after that and felt better going round the corners, still a bit skeptical of those that i can't see where it goes - but nothing comes easy, got to work on these things, cheers mate.

Ah, so thats you.

No problem with going around corners slower you know, the key to riding is having fun, not being the fastest to a point. Over time, the lines will come to you, and things will become smooth.

Yours the red Yamaha? If you're finding cornering difficult then I can't recommend asking about getting some mentoring enough. I've been out a few times with mine and it's made a huge difference to my skills and confidence cornering. I now love it!

LOL - nice take-off, but then you had to brake for the next set of lights, ever notice that those two sets of lights are in sequence? If you had taken off slower from the lights you could have gone quicker through the next ones!

i know those lights all too well... only messed up the timing once, i then proceeded to come to a stop on the front wheel as the light turned green  so i always touch the brake out of force of habit now. Besides, the most important thing was the initial drag

This is panoramic shot from the lookout just before Wellsford.
If you click on it and open it up full size, you'll get the real effect of it. It looks a bit weird small, but it looks pretty good when it's big.
