Well, can you blame the Dutch govt? They have issued a warning to their people that NZ is a place with "serious crime" issues after another attack on Dutch tourists in our land.
We need to get this shit sorted out because this sort of thing can really ruin our image as a tourism mecca on earth. Tourists from the Netherlands make up a large proportion of our annual tourists and loosing that would be a big hit to our tourism sector...they come over here on the Euro, and are able to spend reasonable money because of the strength in their currency. We need to move quickly to fix this.

Hahaha well I meant the "Royal" we, all inclusive, not just KB. And to be honest, at this stage I actually don't have any numero uno, uber clever ideas to bring about change...definitely thinking about it however.

Stop pampering the convicted criminals,
Make them to real hard time, and decent lenght of time.
Make the fear going to prison rather than make it a luxury camp.
This would cut down the amount of crime because of real punishment.
Not the pofta prisons that we have now because of "human rights"
They gave up their right to human rights when they break the law.
There is no fear in the NZ criminal faction, because the law have no teeth!

This was a really awful thing to happen but I believe it could happen in any country, why single us out?

This sort of oppurtunistic crime around tourist spots has been rampant for years.
At Rotorua, for instance, you never left anything of value in your vehicle if parked at the Okere Falls carpark... it wouldn't be there when you got back.
It definitely needs to be sorted. Instead we've got if-you-can't-dazzle-them-with-brilliance,-baffle-them-with-bullshit marketing going on saying how wonderful everything is. I'd say if there are too many more murders, rapes, thefts etc with overseas visitors as the victims... tourists will vote with their feet, and I don't blame them
