Guys the lad came back from desewrt storm with his bike in a bit of a mess-I wont go into the whys and wherefores.
Amongst other things he got sold a $30 plug that was mysteriously missing from the bike when it came home--ie bike arrived minus plug. Hrumph
Anyhoo the other thing thats not right is that the kickstarter has rotated forwards so its resting on the crankcase. It now kicks right over sorta like normal but it then returns to the far forwards position.
Once the bike is running you can hear that the starter gear is still engaged because its making the noise holding the kickstarter down when the bikes running makes.
From experience is this a simple pop a spring back on job or a full engine out and stripped job?

Id imagine that you will be able to see the problem(and hopefully fix it with the clutch casing off.Could be a spring or anything. You will have to take clutch casing off to get to kickstart gear. Hope u sort it - let us know what happens.

The logical thing would to take the kick starter off and move it and see what happens.

Not knowing the situation and who hands the bikes been in, it may have been taken off and moved for what ever reason.

Otherwise if it's the gear inside, it can all be accessed just by taking the clutch side cover off. No biggie.

I'm off work today & tomorrow also have evenings available, if you wanna bring the engine over I can split the casings for you.
Alternatively if you leave the engine with me I can replace & put everything back together for you. (haven't got room in garage for whole bike at mo).

As a minimum you will need:
engine gasket kit
crankseals
bearings
engine oil

other items you may consider:
complete gasket kit with seals (doesn't include crankseals)
new piston & rings (also depends on condition of them)

because the bearings are seized it may have damaged the crank, wouldn't know though till its open.

John --I'll take ya up on that offer--actually things aint as bad in there as I first thought everything 'seems" to be doing what its soposed to. --I still think the end seal is suckin gearbox oil up--there was 380ml of oil in a 700ml sump.
That said I want the engine to be right for the next owner
