Coming home over the Paekakareki Hill road. Yellow GSXR (not sure) Suzuki dead on it's side, Rider proped up on the bank chatting (but looking a bit shocked to be doing so) to kindly motorists controlling the scene and stopping traffic etc.

Didn't need Moby Dick parked across the road and tons of able assistance on the scene so i skedaddled (I'm not a nice person)

Fark. 2 bikes I've seen on their sides on that track in 2 weeks. (both Yellow) Take it easy guys! There is a ton of traffic on that road these days.

Man its soo sickening to see a bike on its side, its like Shit Hope the riders ok, and all these random things go through your head - same thing never happens for cars though, although I sheed concern I normally feel more gut wrenched seeing bikes down.

Keep safe.

I stopped and helped the cops with infor etc.
The bike was a k1 GSXR750, Yellow.
The rider (who i know) Is alive! But was pretty damn sore! (as you would be)
I dont know if there are any broken bones.

He came round right hander and found that there was a car on his side of the road! No where to go!!
Looked at the skid marks... No back wheel what so ever! ALL FRONT!!!!
Went for a long time too!
Straight into the bank, then bounced off onto the road.

The bike is not happy. Every panel broken or scratched, tank dented and forks will be bent to buggery.

Poor guy!!!!
Not even his fault!!!

I'm damn sorry to hear that Sparky Bill.

I felt a bit of a cunt not stopping but jesus, there was like 7 cars and 30 people already....

In the short time I've been commuting that road I've seen some utter wankers driving like there is no tomorrow and yes, on my side of the road too. Fark!

I hope the prat he missed stopped (no bloody chance I'll bet)

Cheers

my Grandad did such a bin last week, he was riding my Brother in laws want to sell 750zxr and droped it at low speed breaking off the front brake lever and the rear brake pedel but not realising that the bike had no brakes carried on up the drive and could not stop as he proceeded through a fence while the rottie barked at him!
his ego hurt more than his wounds (they are minor thank God) but we love him all the same! we can fix the bike but you only get one Grandad and in his time he was the biker from Hell! I took him to the streets.Did you see the lovely in the Pub in the green outfit?

Stevo
25th February 2005, 22:24
Sounds as if Grandad might have been better off knowing that the brakes didn't work first! How much did ya say ya care about him????

But i dont think your a cunt, just being helpfull really. You dont want too many crowding over the poor guy.
Im sure he will be ok.
I dont know him really well, just know his name and have chatted a bit when ive seen him out and about on the bike.
I knew the bike before he bought it! I was looking at buying it before i got the R1.

Last weekend a guy binned it on the tukas just as you get to the summit and are about to pull in, saw it happen but still dont really know how he did it as he wasnt going fast but the bike ended up against the post and managed to fling one of the railings about 20m up the road. Helped pick the bike up which i would say will be a write-off.

the bike was a aprilia factory, a month old i think

Rode it last night. Its a mess. Some dickwad must have moved a herd of cows the entire hill road. Dried shit every 2 metres was playing havoc with grip on the corners. After two rear wheel slides I backed right off to cruise mode. Then come around a corner, 2 HP & 2 fire engines attending a car that failed to take a corner at the end of a straight- how do you do that with a clear view of the approaching corner? Car ran up a 2 metre steep bank, bounced off a tree stump then wiped out a section of fence.
That road is the pits now. The sea side is covered is loose dirt, middle section is covered in cow shit and if that doesn't get you the 4wd that cut every blind corner will. NEVER CROSS THE CENTRELINE GUYS, there's no room for error on that road. As the poor yellow GSR rider found out being on your own side isn't enough. The 4 wheel pricks still take us out

that diabolical Piecok road should have a thread all of its own I reckon. I use it a bit myself on a bike, frankly I get the shits every time from some of the driving behaviour observed. It hosts flocks of boy racers with pedals to the metal and also commuters late for work trying to beat the foul ups on SH1. There's always some wit trying to push the limits on that road. Me I don't worry bout the loose gravel and cow shit...get a big traily! I'll still use that road if only to escape the dullness of SH1.

Yeah seemed to be ok, just some scuffed up leathers and a few bruises i would imagine, proberly would have been more pissed off than anything about his bike.

Hi, I'm the girlfriend of Mark who you saw on the side of the road. He has some broken ribs and damaged his spleen but he got to keep it. He is still in hospital but is doing Ok and is expected to make a full recovery, although can't move much at the mo. The bike is a write off. He would dearly love to get his hands on another one though. He had a 2001 GSX R 750, Yellow and Black.
By the way the reason this happened was because some bastard in a silver and green Mistral 4x4 had just passed someone else and was on the wrong side of the road when Mark came around the corner. Hence mark had no option but he ditch. The bastard driving the 4x4 did a runner. So if anyone has seen this car we would dearly love the number plate.

Looking foward to any info on the 4x4 or on a new bike for Mark

Welcome to the site Fraggle, say Hi to Mark for me and I hope he gets well soon.

I'll keep an eye out in my travells for the Mistral, it's probably someone who lives up there.

I can help Mark out with another Gixxer when he's well again too. But you knew that.

Hi Guys. Thanks for the support on the website. I'm back and looking for another late model GSXR750 or maybe a K5 GSXR600. Love to hear from you if you've got something. Still no info on the guy in the 4X4 but I didn't really expect any. Thats 4x4 drivers for you - generally absolute #@$&'s. If only I had $19 grand for an anniversary model! Donations greatly appreciated. My ribs are still a bit sore and so are my guts but I'm getting beter by the day. Crashing is not fun and I recommend avioding it if at all possible, becasue it might mean no beer or sex for a month or more while laid up in hospital!

Cheers

Good to hear that you're on the mend Bartman 10. Broken bones are a pain, although that morphine's good stuff.

Hope that you can get yourself set up with a new GSXR soon. Those GSXR 1000 K5s look fairly good.
