Title says it all.
Have a zxr250. After about an hour or so my ass goes bad. Had to stop three times last time i rode upto matamata. Once at taupo (gas up anyway). Tokoroa, and then tirau.
Generally flex my legs and stand on my pegs once in a while too.
Am i just a softie? or is my bike renowned for being hard on the ass?

ZXR's have a habbit of seats getting rock hard in the sun over the years
Getting it recovered will help...
I may have one kicking around but i think it wasnt exactly soft...
easy to recover yourself anyways....
foam from para rubber etc....
I had same problem with my old flatmates zxr...rode it for an hour and i was going get me off this damn thing...
Never had too much problem with any of my 3 zxr's... after 3-4 hours i was having issues...
I put a NSR250 tail and a cbr/nsr seat (soft as) and it was mega comfy...
Just refoam ya seat dude ;)

Sweet sounds like im not a pussy.
Taking it upto matamata again on thurs, and onto auckland friday morning to sell it. So wont bother with a recover or anyting. Was my first bike and havnt riden anyone elses for a long enough time to realise what seats are like.
Buying a zx6r 2001 next week (hopefully). So looking forward to it being a soft seat.
I always read people complained about sore wrists on the zxr250 (due to the bars being low). I found i only had a sore ass and a sore neck lol.

Yeah depends how tall ya are length of arms etc...
i have an arm i cant fully straighen... so often ride one handed... but never a problem with right arm getting sore on zxr.... have been known to ride for an hour at a time one handed and no problems...

Yeah, I get a little saddle sore if I'm riding for 2-3 hours straight or so. VTR seat is relatively comfy, but don't have much to compare it to.

Yeah I used to get a sore arse, changed a few things and it helped, I did the coro loop last year 400km in one day no real issues.
Sore right throttle wrist about the only thing and think that was because I was doing lots of work braking, stopping, turning 100's times etc. as you do on that trip.
Anyways back to the arse, I wore a pair of cycling shorts under my gear, these have a padded arse to them, a old dude told me a while back to tuck your knees into the bike a bit and put some weight with your feet on the pegs, dont just let your legs dangle on the pegs, doing this takes some weight off your wrists and your arse, it also slightly tenses your butt which helps. It is something you get used to doing second nature.
This is not a yoga exercise or anything it simply is "slight " change in the way you ride a bike and it Helps.
Also lift your arse off the seat when you go over large bumps, like railway lines etc.
For sore neck pull back on the handle bars as though, you are trying sit up straight, ie stretching your shoulder, neck muscles, this helps with neck strain. do it once say every 20km...it helps
Just small things but they all help.
Lastly start getting fit on a pushbike, great for arse muscles, and thighs.
At the end of the day you dont want to give up the thrill of a good sports bike for the sake of a few aches a pains....sort it out.
On On!

Cycling shorts are good I reckon. We have it good compared to pushbikers, look at the tiny things they call saddles.

Yerrr sore bum is par for the course for me too. (It's coz I DON'T have a huge fat arse is why I reckon...!):bleh:
Course the SV has a pretty basic and friggin hard seat as well which doesn't help. Two hours without a break is about max for me.
On the other hand I have few other aches on longer rides. I tend to put a lot of body weight forward onto the bike so I carry almost none through my arms/hands. In sweepy bits I try to have NO weight at all on the bars - bike handles way much more betterer that way as well, because I am not interfering with its natural balance.
I also use a Scottoiler "cramp buster" or throttle buddy which means I don't have to hold the throttle grip so hard. I have a lot of scar tissue in my right hand from surgery last year and find this device helps a lot. Without it (and some days even with it) my hand totally numbs out and I can't feel a thing. Have to let go and shake the hand a bit to restore circulation...
Knees get sore too after about two hours. Forward position is how I love to ride but it plays hell with old buggered up knees like mine. I have to get off every so often for this reason.
BUT overall I wouldn't stop riding for anything. I will put up with a little pain in exchange for the sheer joie de vivre that riding a bike brings into my life. Very little compares with that...

Just keep riding and it will come right. Its no different for your wrists, neck, legs, etc. Bikes are great for getting everything a good click into place.
