Stuff news today.

About Oct last year I followed a muffti Gold-coloured Holden Omega from Plimerton to the Paraparaumu station doing 120km.h the whole way about 11pm at night!! I eventually gave up because I worried I was being baited. I took the rego and was going lay a complaint but I didn't bother because I think police internal disciple / investigate is notional. That above stuff article is exactly the kind of thing that make me lose respect for the plod. Even a mate of mine who's a cop will go away over 100 in the 50 with red and blues on having a "race" to get to a call before the other cops cars do. I don't know police rules but I'm pretty sure that’s crazy speed! Again I don't say anything... what would it do.
Finally only a month ago coming into Featherston from Greytown I caught up to a car doing 85 all over the road, I passed him and set cruise control (I was in a car). He then started tail-gating me finally pulling out in his 1300cc Toyota in front of an on-coming Lexus which ran off the road.
I pulled over ran his rego through Carjam (I have 3G Wireless in the car for work) to get his street address, then white pages for the house number.
Went to his house where he was still in the car and asked him what is problem was? To which I got a mouth full of abuse... It took a bit of self-control to bite my tongue and stay in my car. I went to the Featherston police station and filed a report and was told I would hear from them.
THAT WAS OVER 3 MONTHS AGO.
Generally speaking I like the police, and respect the function they perform but a 'what ya gunna do about it' attitude, slackness, and internal “I’ve got you back” is creeping in and is it isn’t anything new (at least not in the public facing side of police function). You’ve only got to look back over 2007-2008 at the historic power-abuse, rape and corruption cases to see it’s an old ethos.
As always I’m sure it’s a minority ruining it for the rest but, again, this stuff article illustrates the standard set up the ‘top cops’.

Life isn't fair.....
get used to it.
The biggest/scariest and most feared gang operating here should be the Police....
Most coppers are people....
most people are arsholes in at least some situations...
Stands to reason then that some coppers are arsholes at least sometimes....
Has a Copper ever let you get off when he could have nailed you?.....
They have let me off plenty..

Rubbish! They're paid to do a job they are not. It wouldn't hold up in the private sector why it should in the public.
When a 'top cop' who waves the big stick at drunk drivers is spotted by public driving home from a police bar badly, refuses a breath test and says he was home all night gets off at that and peeps like you say "live and let live" something’s wrong. All police would need to do is check if his tyres / engine were warm and ask if anyone at the police bar saw him there that night.
It would be easy to prove either was or was not home all night. I bet my bike if it was Joe public it would've been followed up.

Ummmm.... am I missing something here???No. It's just another KBer getting wound up about all the perceived injustice in the world, and trying to solve it single-handedly, and putting himself at risk doing so.
You cant tell them it wont affect them, because they will manipulate circumstance so that it DOES affect them, and use that outcome to provide evidence to prove they were right to begin with.
You cant tell them the injustice is only in their perception, because they have been so mistreated so far, that they can only see injustice.
You cant use logic to explain anything to them, because they take any and all explanation as persuasion and they will believe that you are trying to justify your own illicit actions.
So pretty much you are screwed trying to tell them, and they are screwed trying to tell you, so best we get back to our peaceful existence and leave them to their distraught one.

what are you trying to say?
So you play detective, go to a guys home who you perceive as a lunitic/arshole to talk to him "sternly" (I presume)
Then when he tells you to F*ck off, you go to the local cops to cry.
Now you are angry that after 3 months you still did not get a medal...
Somehow this is supposed to be related to another cop being aquited in court...
You done a psychological evaluation lately?
last time I did abit of "stern talking" to perceived arsholes, I was quite pleased that the police didn't realy wanted to know about it....

120 is hardly a big concern..........racing to a call is what we pay the coppers for, you would be pissed if they fucked around finishing their donuts and travelling at the speed limit, waiting in traffic etc

Dumbass, lucky you didn't get your head smacked in. Take the number, ring the cops. Again that's what we pay the cops to do and if they didn't appear to take any action its tough shit-accept it and move on!

PEEPS in this context = like minded people. In other words "peeps like you" = people who think like you. I'm sure I didn't coin the term peeps, maybe it's bebo short-hand.
Bottom line; On the face it the 'top cop' got away with drunk driving by knowing the system and lying. It would also appear the police didn't try that hard to prove either way if it did or did not.
I also think it's fair to assume if I took time to fill in a police report about a drunk driver and the clerk said I would be hearing from them that I would. Sure the worlds not fair but why have a go at me for proving that to be true?
And my final responce... to bsasuper, this post by you from a Road Rage thread.
Had a strange experience last night riding home, country road south auckland, came upon a car following a truck doing 80, car passed truck then i passed both of them, car saw me and speed up as i was passing, no big problem i was on the VFR so just powered ahead, now car was right up my arse as i slowed to cruising speed, seems car was pissed off with me and goes to overtake, no problem just let car pass (being safe) then just re pass car after car pulls back in, well this really pissed of car as car swerves at me as i pass!!!,well thats just not cricket.Anyway i know where car lives and car will have a hard time starting come monday morning.
..and you're call me a nut *sigh*

Rofl. The irony. To know how fast they were going you'd have to speed too...
Oh well. Stop crying about it, see an agressive driver\rider on the road? Just let them go, and keep your eyes on the road. Cops are JUST people too, some of them do their job well, some just do it as they can. Its not their fault someone speeds.
And that "bite ur tongue" excuce, I bet you were about to shit ur pants.=)

I ride and drive everywhere in a 100k zone with 120 on the speedo. Thats because it really isn't 120k, its actually abuot 108-109k. Thats why I never get pinged, and I travel one of Welly's most "policed" roads every day.
So, in effect, you followed a cop doing less than 110kph, but you thought he was going faster. In reality, you probably drive everywhere at under 90kph, which pisses everyone else off.

Which is probably why we are getting so many people fooled by the 50k + free uni signs by the harbour bridge.
In busy areas where your doing lots of unpaid overtime those road workers on the harbour bridge are getting paid the same rate if not more given the hours put in.
The last people you want in the job are those who become cops because of the 'money' we all know where that leads.

Talked to an ex Sergeant not who works with my wife, shared a few beers at the annual office bar-b-cue!. He worked in the force for nearly twenty years and had some amusing tales to tell. One that particularly caught my attention was after hours drinking and the general drinking culture within the force [during 80's-90's], it was apparently common place for binge drinking to take place and driving afterwards. He claimed that he was not proud of his actions and that the culture may well have changed since his departure. The drinking story [among others] gave the impression that the coppers behaved like real cowboys at least when he was around.

I'm reasonably sure cops are meant to obey the same laws as us "peeps" unless they have their lights on
still they made the rule that they're exempt when their lights are on so I suppose they could make another one up which allows them to do whatever they like whether their lights are on or not ...

Obviously you didn't read my whole post, there was another 2-3 lines there, which explained this phenomenon to you....
How about, for example, they did'nt want to be seen coming? or/ they didn't want to freak out people coming the other way? (I also wrote this in my last post, if you had bothered to read it-that people do weird shit when they see these lights coming at them....especially on the open road)
Please explain what possible benefit there would be, driving with flashing lights on, on the open road, at night, when the road is clear? Apart from unnerving the traffic coming the opposite way, your not doing anything to help your cause, the lights don't make the vehicle handle any better, you realise that eh?
You deliberately missed my previous points out, nice one for jumping on the usual "cops are bad guys" wagon though dude, makes you real objective.....not broken record at all. :Pokey:
