Almost came home with a kitten today. Walked out to my bike when leaving a mates place in hamilton to see a little black and white kitten huddled beneath the bike trying to get out of the rain.
Decided the better option was to leave it there with my mates who are cat lovers instead of bringing it home where my dad is who is most certainly not a cat lover.

My dog ditched them as soon as he was out of sight!

Our menagerie consists of: Max (dog) aka Dopey Dog; fr to rear Amadeus, Boots and Pebbles (3 mogs) aka Dung Beetle, Rat and Peabrain respectively; and Arwen (rabbit) aka Fatass Donkey. Arwen cage companion Galadriel died earlier this year. Now to see if I can attach the pix. Ummmm......

My neighbours Cockatoo... (and My amber eyeing him up for a snack, and she can jump to the top of the fence, just not over it) for the amount of time he spends pestering the dogs and trying to get on my shoulders he might as well live here. He is a darling, but OMG is he LOUD at times!
I can hear him as I'm cycling down the street

Now this is a 2 storied house, so the drop is a reasonable one, but she is unfazed.
Called Spade because: -
1. Her colour obviously
2. She thinks she has an arse like a Rhinosaurus, or so the excavations would lead you to believe. She could earn a good living in earthmoving.
3. Because she has been.

Most laid back animal I have ever encountered. There's a daycare next door and she regularly goes and plays with the kids

Bonus is that the vet ain't charging me for any of the treatment, Xrays or surgery so thats pretty cool eh?

Did Shars last op not work ie: is the the reason of a redo and no charge?

buellbabe
9th January 2008, 13:30
Yep! it was all good up til 3 weeks after the op, her recovery was nothing short of amazing and the vet said to start walking her. I was really dubious and asked him repeatedly if he was sure that was a good idea.
He said she would be fine but after 2 very short walks I could see something wasn't right so stopped walking her.
The new ligament he had made for her wasn't up to it and when he opened her up on monday he reported that it was shot!
So I guess he feels responsible for the failure hence the freebies... or maybe its cos he fancies me! ha ha ha actually I reckon its cos he has fallen completely under Shars spell...she has that effect on people.

28th January 2008, 00:43
This is my baby Xander. Got him from a friend of my cousin who said she couldn't take it when she was moving. Real reason I reckon she didn't want him is because he was sick and she didn't know why and hadn't bothered taking him to the vet. Got asked if we wanted him a month before we got him. Saw him sick at the time and naively thought that she would take care of him but when my cousin dumped him at my place after the girl had left and we hadn't said yes we relented and kept him. In the month since we had last seen him he had gotten worse cos she had never taken him to the vet. He was 3mth at the time.

We took him to the vet two days later (once we had made an appointment - this was at new years time) and it turns out he came from a litter that was sold in the petshop joined to the vets and the whole litter had gotten chlamydia (feline version - you filthy animals thinking otherwise!!!) from their mother.

Got him treated sucessfully although it took time and patience as he always fussed when he would get medicated (still does if we have to give him a pill). However, he has thrived in our care. He's quite large as he had a relapse of chlamydia after his 6mth vaccination and we had to postpone his neutering which gave him time to put put on some tom growth.

He is extremely affectionate and yet is quite content to wander off on his own but when you come we come home from work (or wherever) there's always a warm greeting as unless he's asleep on my bed he will come to the door. Or if he's outside, if he hears my bike or the car pull up he show up soon after.

His favourite place when I'm home is in front of the tv with me lying across my boobs. Ample room for him and I have to settle for hearing the telly out of one ear as the other can't hear over his purring (until he falls asleep..)

Oh yeah.... and when the cousin comes visiting, as soon as he realises she's there he's gone and we don't don't see him for a while. Good memory that one. Even though she wasn't the one who owned him she was round at the other girls place visiting and he remembers her. If for that then the other reason he hides is because she is one of those girls that "talks" to cute wee animals in that high pitched squeaky crap voice with the whole baby talk thing. ugghh. If I could hide at those times I would too.....

Did anyone see 'The Dog Whisperer' last Saturday evening? Ceasar Milans pitbull is living proof that they can be perfectly well balanced dogs with no aggression.

One thing did bother me tho... and thats the fact that it was really overweight! Not a good look Ceasar!

Know a few people who have them. One is an exracer. They make great mates. couch potatoes (think it's a sighthound thing) so make sure you get a bigger couch. They are sighthounds so you have to be aware they can see things moving at a great distance & can be 100m away before they have even worked out what it is that's moving. With an exracer you'll have it on the lead when walking until you have a great bond & know the recall is there. They are gentle & quiet and loyal usually good with other dogs & with kids & some with cats.

Staff or Staff cross? farking good age for one either way.

Full Staffy D
Boston of Hastings out of Amberglow of Bass/Budwiser of Hunt
He would win every fight with me when on the end of a big stick, staffy owners know what I mean by that .
His Favorite toy was a 10lb bowling ball that he use to spend hours licking to death, a Staffy trait, stone chewing, I have yet to meet one that does not do it. God I miss the ole fella.
If it was not for the fact that I could not spend enuff time with a new pup because of work, I would get another. But then need proper care or become depressed, not a good thing in a Staffy.

My staffs had two operations for stone removal, most of her teeth are warn down from chewing bricks, she pulled my shoulder out from playing pully sticky and forced her way out of an upstairs window and jumped to the ground because she'd seen me leave by the back gate.

She's a nutter but loves people to bits, doesn't get dogs, doesn't see the point at all. I'm only writting this so early cause the bugger was sleeping on my head so I had to get up.

There's only two types of dog: staffys and the others.

Sorry about your loss if your ever up New plym come and fuss my old girl, apparently fuss is required 24/7.

well these babies I grew from nothing... I had to help them when they ran out of food, gave em a pumpkin to eat and then they went away for a while ( a long time actually!) and re-emerged... ahhhh aint he lovely?

and then there are some more of the staff and her plaything.

and as the last picture shows, the staffy won! ;)

Awwwww sorry to hear that Joni. I had a moggie that went missing too - for over four months - then I saw his picture in the local rag with his 'owner' who said she had picked him up as a stray!!!

Nice pussy shots McJim :-)

Don't ya love the way cats are able to stretch themselves out like that?
They are such total heat worshippers :sunny:

Heres a bit of trivia for ya...Until recently the cat was commonly believed to have been domesticated in ancient Egypt, where it was a cult animal. So that explains why they they LOVE heat! However a 2007 study found that all house cats are probably descended from a group of as few as five self-domesticating African Wildcats Felis silvestris lybica circa 8000 BC. Still got that heat loving thing going on...

My Ridgeback X mutt is also a total heat lover (hardly surprising) whereas my Rotti X loves the cold and rolls around in total ecstasy on frosty grass!

This is Ted, he is a Welsh Terrier. Ted enjoys walks, chasing rabbits where he catches quite a few and going hunting with me. He comes to work with me almost every day, at work he is called Diesel Dog. For a terrier he is obedient. He is my first 'inside' dog. If the weather is fine he can ride with me on the bike, I have a dog seat-basket thingy. He goes on all the hospital and toy runs and he is good with kids and old folk. He is still a young dog (2 years) but has settled down well. They said these medium sized terrier dogs don't grow any brains until they are 4 years old, but Ted seems to be fine just as he is.
