Back in the day when I had anything to do with these sort of clubs you had to be invited to join. Not just a matter of turning up and saying you want to become a member. Has that changed now?? Maybe HOG would be a better option for you??

Well, in my books, if you can wrestle a piece of iron that heavy and unstable down the road then you are a tough guy. Hrm I passed one who was woefully inadequate in the corners, and then I tucked in tight for a 90-second full-throttle burst on a straight, and at the end of the straight the bastard was riiiiiite on my tail. That tractor couldn't corner, but fuck it could moooove on the straights. How the hell they do that with an open-faced helmet on is beyond me coz he musta been touching 240 to catch me, so I wouldn't call it heavy and unstable. I did a beeeg arse-hang and tip-way-in-deep for the corner at the end, and he backed right off, but NOT SLOW on the straights!

well, since your buell is more akin to a horse than a motorcycle *I know that is being mean to horses which are quite lovely to ride* you should try the kkk, they dont say mc though cos the cool clubs are undercover.

Just do what everone else in kiwiland does. Be an entrepeneur and start your own.
The benefits are endless:
- There is no need to be stuck with some dumb name, you can name the club whatever you want. Personally I have always fancied HTFU MC. You can also have a cool patch like a skull with wings or a flying hotdog!
- You make the rules. If you like chinese scooters then they are in!
- The clubroom can be your bedroom. Saves time, no need to ride anywhere. And mum will be happy that you are at home.
- You get to pick who is in. What a brilliant way to get back at that bully who steals your lunch. Not letting him join will show who is in charge!
So what are you waiting for? Ah thats right... that bike...

IMHO... start at the top of your list and try each 'club' in turn... walk up to the 6 foot high corrugated iron gates topped off with barbed wire and pound on them until you get an audience with your future club leader.
Dont forget to take a copy of your latest CV, drivers licence for proof of age and motorcycle riding ability... and perhaps some cold hard cash to sweeten them up to the idea of your 'joining' their club.
Dress appropriately, try and source a copy of their MC patch and sew it on to your best suit so that you can show them how proudly you would wear their insignia.
Study up on their cultures before you turn up... learn the many and various hand gestures they use and gesture these to them to signify your in the 'know' about them.
It may pay to also have with you proof of ownership of your motorbike... they wouldnt be too impressed to find out it wasn't your own.
Finally... it is always appreciated when a potential new member turns up with morning tea... try taking along some scones... or better still, fairy cakes and a nice hot urn of tea. That way you can all sit around in the garden area of the club and really get to know each other.
Let us know how it goes...

At last someone who understands this! I fully support your stance here. Ok, so you can not join just like that. You need to prove that you are worthy. I mean, why would they allow some lolife to suddenly be able to destroy their reputation as caring charity workers that has taken years to build up?

3rd April 2009, 20:19
Taco, somehow I am starting to think you are serious. And if that is the case, then who am I to judge? I still have a patch somewhere from another lifetime...
You do have to realise that it is not only about riding. It is a lifestyle. Very few, even from KB, have what it takes to join a patched MC. It becomes what is the main part of your life. Not because you join, but because it is who you were already before you joined up. You were only looking for like minded people to be with, And you did find them.
But if you have this idea that you can rock up to their gate with a bike and a smile and join, then you have really missed a vital ingredient here. They do not need you. Probably do not even want you. You will have to prove that you have what it takes. And that can take years.
Normally starts by you get to know someone who knows them. Then, if you are ok you are welcome to a party or two that they hold. You participate in their Poker Runs (or whatever activities that they hold type Drags, racing, rallies etc). You start to become a regular with them. Then you might get a small job to do: Be at the gate when everyone else want to watch the strippers, go fetch some more beer, clean up after a party, any other crap job. If you do OK you can start to ride with them. No patch, just at the tailend of the group. By this time a year or three has gone.
Then if you have not done any fuckups you might be asked to prospect. That can take anything from 6 months to a few years depending on who you are, who they are and who likes you. But don't be surprised if you are told to fuck off after two years before you get a patch. Not many make it the whole way. They do not have the commitment to always be there and help, do the shitty work, be trusted. Get up at 3am when the phone rings and stuff needs to be sorted.
But if you after some years get your patch then it means that you are trusted to 100%. And you will stand up for anyone else with that patch. No questions asked. If not, then that patch is gone in a flash.
But if all this seems like a hard road and you do not have what it takes you can look at a social club. There is many of them around. They have a more relaxed look at it all. There will be no patch for your back. Only a small one for your arm. This is where many end up who like the riding, the socialising, but also want to have a life of their own.
Choice is yours.
But I tell you, by rocking up to one of the MC's you have mentioned and telling them you want to join will only get your head smashed in. Badly.
Nah, you are takin the piss. Arent you???

Do you really feel the need to fit in and "belong" as bad as that?
If you fell that strongly about having to belong to a "motorcycle club" why dont you start your own?
Or just go to your local cop house and tell them you want to be locked up for a few years. Not only will you save yourself a few years of mucking around i(prospect, joining, doing the crime, caught, jail etc), but you will meet lots of "interesting" people, and there will be some of those MC members in there, that you can be real close "friends" with too!

Try the Weasels MC. They have a website. But don't think they sport back patches.
Unfortunately, outside the USA it seems that MC generally are a group of people formed in a club in which most of the members earn through dishonest or criminal means.
In the states there are a number of MC that wear full colors, or near full (no bottom rocker but a front of vest location bar) and essentially a brotherhood/sisterhood/family in similar way Headhunters, Angels etc... in NZ are but without the criminal activities.
There are only a few clubs outside of USA that would sport back patches (some say any patch on you anywhere is bad though), and are a club strictly for sticking together and making friends.
Go to the states and find a club. There's riding clubs like HOG, and then there are motorcycle clubs, and then there are 1% (or "outlaw") motorcycle clubs.
