After the news of a few peoples pushbike accidents, i was wondering, how many people on here have had serious (off school/work kinda thing) pushbike accidents (since the first part of actually learning how to ride)

I have had one serious one, while pushing my riding and bikes ability past their line.

I have literally lost comunt after flipping countless times, hitting cars walls etc... ive had my worst injuries from pushbikes and have ended up in hospital a few time due to them....

Worst one was losing control at 40kmh, hitting a brick wall, then as i somorsaulted over the wall, my arm caught the corner of a metal letterbox, ripping it big gash open... that hurt quite a bit.... Ive written of more pushbikes than motorbikes.... but im working on that :bleh:

Yay! I hope this is about me!

Yeah, I fall off all the time, nothing too major. Mostly from stunting down hills...

" Glen Sisarich " trying to keep up was useless Good fun trying tho . Still got my bike sit's at the back of the shed Bit of a waste $4000 when new Owell

I thought trips to the emergency doctors was just part of growing up. Im sure I have caused my parents a large amount of grief from the dumb things I have done on pushbikes.
Worst one i can remember is putting a pole from a letterbox into my knee cap, that wasn't much fun.

Yip been there done that, mostley while MTB cross country racing...... but one of the funnyest would be on the Giant when it was new, the lads were out frount so I poped the frount wheel up and mono'd right between them straight up to the frount....... kinda had picked a little speed up by now, I started to go over backwards so my feet came off the pegs... umm pedels as the bike was new I dident want to scratch it so I hang on tight.... but due to the speed I couldent run faster nuf to keep up with it so I ended up triping over the thing. End result was 3 ribs and a wicked core sample out of my chest, ohh yeah then 2 out of the 4 other riders ran over me.

Shocks, disc brakes etc. Tell you what, there has been quite a few times that I reckon that I should have come off, but for whatever reason have not. All my decient accidents on a pushbike happened while I was still at school.

Managed a day off work after failing to give way and writing off my bike into the front of an MR2.

Turning across two lanes of traffic I went behind the large vehicle in the lane closest to me only to find the wee MR2 was obscured behind the aforementioned 4x4 :doctor:

Very angry that I wrote off a very nice bike and some sunglasses I could never replace :brick:

I landed an enormous jump on the front wheel, which snapped my new carbon fibre frame and I ended up going into the ground headfirst, smashed the helmet down the middle into 2 pieces and ended up with a broken back.

Moved to wellington and decided to cane down Mt Vic, came around a corner with a bus on my side of the road and ended up lowsiding into the bus with the bike jammed under the back wheels, In a t-shirt and shorts...... I visited the burns unit of the hospital.

Then fucked up a big dropoff up mt vic, landed sideways on my ankle which twisted my leg till it snapped.

Only two majors (which pale in comparison to the rest....)

1st: hit gravel going extra fast (for me), slid knee down road and lost ALL the skin off it and had a major dent in the shin of the other leg (and it's still there 14 years later...). Had to hitch-hike into the doctor's surgery (about 7k's).....folks don't want to pick you up off the side of the road when you are covered in blood. Two days later I was back cycling the 15 k's to my daily nursey visits :2thumbsup

2nd: last year some bint decided to park on top of me. Two really badly sprained wrists and a bike seat wedged where the sun don't shine.......

This year, so far so good......

Yep, i've had 2 biggies on my MTB. Both ended up in hospital.

First one was about 10 years ago. Cut my shin on the pedal down to the bone. Had to have an operation and stay a few nights in hospital. Second was over the handle bars doing around 50 after school one day. Landed square on my helmet (saved my life) and smashed it into 15 or so pieces. Even got a ride in an ambulance for that one, lol. Just kept in for observation for a few hours cause i was KO'd for a few mins.

Apart from those there are heaps of other minor ones. The two above are definately worse than the 2 motorbike crashes i have had aswell. Thats what saftey gear's for i guess.

This thread makes me feel like a fag. I need to get some hardcore injuries. Excuse me while I go out to the gargre and grab my un-suspensioned Purple Cobra and go ride down the stairs backwards with no clothes on. Then I might be cool enough! But not yet :(

I was riding pushbikes when I was a kid,so prangs were a part of life.I remember one day I ran over a hollowstone block in the road, when I got up a couple of girls who were watching (um,why do you think I wasn't looking where I was going?) said all concerned like ''are you all right?''....'uh,yeah,I'm all right' then pedaled off,but a bit further down the road my feet kept slipping off the pedals, and I saw my legs covered in blood.Dumb girls, always causing accidents.

My worst prang was going downhill really fast when I was 14 - a little kid ran out in front of me,then went the otherway....then back again! Too late and I ran him down - my first experiance of watching the skin peel off the palms of my hands in slow motion.I was really tangled in the bike and the little guy was a mess - I had water on the knee and got 6 weeks off school :2thumbsup that knee still has reoccouring water on the knee, just gone down a couple of months ago after a 2 year stay.

Ever gone down a sandy road as fast as you could on your Raleigh 20 and slammed on the front brakes to see what would happen?

Kinda reminds me of a guy I met inb a Bar last week, Poor **cker had 15 empty top shelf glasses in front of him.
I rocked up to the dude, and asked, hey man you seem to be celebrating, what's up?
He replied, I' just had my first bl** j*b!!!
Wow!~ Dude I said, That's Awesome! let me buy you another drink!
" F**k off he said, I've had 15, I can't get the taste outa my mouth, do you think 1 more will help????

Most recently for me was about 6 months ago, I flipped my bike riding down a staircase onto Palliser Rd (Mt Vic). Nice set of horizontal lines down my chest from each step. Had an audience too.

Only two that I can recall:
(1.) Maraka Peak MTB Park a few years back, went to attempt a jump got too much front brake hit a stone or something, and ended up going over the jump head first without my bike.
Somehow landed on my collarbone, flicked onto my back and slid feet first for several metres on a 4wd track. Smashed the back of my helmet on the track, and the whole back of it fell out.
Broke my the outside end of R/H collarbone. Needed a hook plate to be inserted for several months, off work on ACC for six weeks, plate came out, and took me about six months to get back to where I was before the accident.
Got quite a nice scar where the plate was inserted.

(2.) Going fast down a 4wd track, ran out of track and hit a drain that had been cut out of the track by rain. Went over the handle bars (again) but this time just landed on my back. Was winded for about three days. Only a few dents on the helmet this time.

I go a bit slower down hill now.
