Well it was a nice afternoon so Laxi and I decided to go out to Staglands for a coffee. Good road conditions, not a lot of traffic and all was well. Straight piece of road about 200 metres away from Staglands I moved a touch left to get past a car going slow and not being stupid in anyway shape or form when all of a sudden my front wheel just went out and dumped me on the road in front of the by now stopped car.

Totally can't explain what happened but slid for a bit. The gear did what it was supposed to and all. Bike not too badly damaged and all I got was a skinned elbow so feeling pretty lucky. Guess I'll now find out how good my insurance is eh?

I've attached some photos of the bike, road and carnage. Can't even explain how I got dumped. Shows you what even a low speed off can do eh? Glad I was wearing all the gear.

The helmet scar is pretty impressive too. Note to all newbies out there who view this.....Wear all the gear for gods sake. This was 45 Odd Kays an hour.

Hey, your gear did a great job. I was luckier than you as I was doing less than 40kph. The rear foot peg and bar end weight protect the bike really well, hence just one panel. My gear was undamaged as I danced down the road on my feet trying not to get run over by other vehicles.

I hope it works out OK for you. Lots of damage, but the main thing is that you are OK.

Good to see you're okay. We didn't have any offs but came around a corner at speed, two up to greet a house truck doing a 3 point turn. It was across both lanes. As the bike was hauling up I was thinking that's the first time there was pretty much no where to go except bush.

Then several km's further on after some long quick roads I stopped for a Stop sign and the current model black commodore behind me failed to stop in time. He managed to swerve to the right side of me crossing over the centre line, as he shot past me and into the intersection before turning left and driving off.

I had a biker with nazi helmet and skeleton face cover wave to me.

A bizarre weekend.

People, it's not that there are many more incidents, it's just that we have this very convenient and friendly place to speak about them.
Insanity, shame about that beautiful Duc but so glad to see that you were wearing all the gear and how it worked so well.
I hope the newbies take Notice. Thanks for posting the pics mate, it brings it home rather well.

Slip. I moved left 6 inches and thats when the front wheel came out. There was shiney stuff all over the front wheel.

Thanks for the well wishes all. Contacted insurance today, so far good experience.

Please see the post directly above yours. Laxi is my riding buddy, co-conspiritor, cellmate, drinking buddy, stalwart and staunch wingman, accident cleaner upper (this makes two doesn't it?) and long time mate.
