Hi all, got myself a RMZ450 after 15 years away from any consistent mx riding, and looking to do some casual local club mx in the Wellington area.
Been to KMCC's track a couple of times over the years, but was wondering who else on this site does a bit of local mx and what they recommend....was thinking of perhaps going up to Taikorea (sp?) or have also found the Gold Coast club on the web too....looks like the same track though? What is recommended down here please?
cheers

heya mate, what do ya think of the moonshine track? (KMMCC one) she's a bit hard huh? there's another one like that in Brooklyn that's $20 to ride anytime for a bit of practice. you can ride up there anytime prettymuch you just gotta talk to the farmer. Then there's Moonshine, Taikorea and Motuiti which is just out of Foxton it's got a hard base which comes to the surface in areas but mostly sandy on top and even soily in sections.
I'm not 100% on all this as i don't ride MX but i think the wellington MX championship runs mostly on the moonshine track (KMMCC run the champs) but they do use Motuiti as well. So jump into that series. I think they run at moonshine 3rd Sunday of every month but check with the club, their info is on the silverbullet website under: clubs, Kapi-Mana motorcycle club.
Lastly i'd like to say that MX is for fucktards and you should come for a blast with me and my 450 MX bike riding buddies in Karapoti! We race, we're stupid, we crash so it's a lot like MX but we don't cover the same piece of track multiple times and neither do we pay for the right to ride oh and we also like to go up and down shit that boils and fucks our bikes and bodies cos it's scary like jumping but you don't end up as a vegetable when you cock it up.
Oh and don't worry about feeling like an old git cos they're the only type of cunts i ride with
Ha ha haaaa, I promise i'm not this abraisive in person lol

thanks...
yeah moonshine is great cause it is close and worth supporting but I'm not a fan of coming off the track bleeding having not crashed (ie sucked rocks from others....) my fault for being slow....not a problem if you are in the lead! Will have a go at Motoiti or Taikorea...
I'm definitely and older git now though, so quite keen to not bust my bones trying to clear a double...probably am a fucktard too come to think of it:clap: would be keen to get out to Karapoti some time too, mountain biked around there a few times last time I lived in Wellington (90s) and always thought a dirtbike would be so much the better way to go!
cheers

No worries mate. I'll PM ya next time we go up there. Probably not this weekend but the next. This weekend (sunday) we're going up to Tangimoana forrest which is a good sand trail blast so lemme know if your keen for this too. It's not much further north than the motuiti track so could show ya where that is too. I think if there's someone there (a keyholder) they let you ride the track for a $10 donation
