Some of it settles, then some more rain showers roar in & it goes away. :cold:
Went out to the Heads earlier in the day. The Aratere was just coming in on the swells, but pity anyone on the Bluebridge (Santa Regina?). She was fair rocking & rolling just clearing the Heads, let alone what it would be like further out. BIG swells outside the harbour...

I was at manfeild to day,it was fricken cold there, and almost snowed at abot 3 30,we called things a day then, and at waikanae on the way home it was sleeting enough to speckle the windscreen and for cars to leave tracks in a greyish road.

Most of the snow is gone now, but we had bit still on the ground this morning. Bloody cold. Don't think I'll be riding anywhere today.
At least I've found a use for those old totara posts I had laying around. They burn real good.

Yeah I know, spent that already LOL!
Fingers crossed have someone buying some of my rather expensive dive gear tomorrow! Got a bunch of the best quality stuff I own on TM at the mo, alot of it in virtually brand new condition! My Regs, Dry Suit, Dive Computer & Dive Torch are all particularly high quality, which unfortunately also means they aint cheap, even on TM!
Accountant finally sorted my tax return so IRD should be payin me a whole years worth of back WFFTC in the next week or so too! Anyway, its back on the job hunt trail again tomorrow! :(

start time can be changed depending on riders needs.

coffie at gladstone pub to start and coffie at toppys to finish.
thats a nice easy ride.
be great to meet up with other local riders.

I wouldn't want to do it on road tyres. While it's not generally a rough track it gets faiurly steep and last time we went up the surface was best decribed as 'loose', so some sort of knobbly is helpful.
junkmanjoe
7th June 2009, 17:55

+1 Any n00bs not been on steep, loose descents before and/or on heavy bikes would find the pylon track descent chok full of clenching moments i would say!
If Joe is right and a dozer has been up there it could be ok but any heavy rain and the channels etc would be right back I would think!

Nah its fine! I got down it on a solo ride unscathed after I'd only been adv riding a few weeks, so it can't be too bad or else I would've snapped something on the KLX that day, me being me! We've been on worse since for sure aye! The trickiness to it is the steepness combined with so much loose rock and nasty erosion channels all together that just go and on for 2/3rds of the descent - makes it interesting shall we say!
We'll all be fine on there!

start time for this sundays ride out to the matakoina, can be moved a little to allow for our cold morns.
but not to late as it gets cold quick in the evenings.
so welly riders can get home in good time.
some where between 10-11am.
will allow good time to do matakoina and through to castle point with a play on the beach.

So the great dilemma may have to be faced. No job and plenty of time flexibility for Adventure rides but perhaps not enough money to do so (especially with you parts consumption!) or a a job and able to afford to ride but without the spare time at the right time to do so!

Joe, are you still planning 10am at Masterton Caltex on south end of town for the start?
If so, any Welly/Hutt/Kapiti guys I suggest leave Rimutaka Caltex(U. Hutt) 9am.
Phil & I are gonna be comin over to U. Hutt from Waikanae on the Akatarawa Rd at probs 8.15 I'd guess if any kapiti guys wanna ride over the hill wiv us! Say, leave the coffee cart at Ngaio Rd by New World 8.15.
If Joe changes Masterton start time, just adjust times by same amount our end aye!

WOW what a day. :2thumbsup
we rode Zukins old play ground today.
we had the best day out and a heap of fun...a few slippy moments..but smiles every where...
all started at 10am at solway caltex.
fueled and ready, of we went.
warming our tires on way to tinui valley, hit the gravel hard...
the futher in we went the more the road turned to shit...and shit it was..slipy slidy shit.
pac spur was  crap from top to bottom....sweet...:devil2:
all down hill so most of it was a controled slide....well that was the plan..
all made it down with out to much drama.
scooted along the matikona beach front, just a great rocky beach.
arrived at castle point for lunch.
a bit of a wizz down the beach, very few people so was good.
after noon we headed for castle hill, wairi rd, and back to my house for a cupper.
great to meet a couple new riders.
just a magic day in the saddle.
RIP zukin, this one was for you.

Looks like things went well for the team and you had fun. I decided against risking myself and the big bike on a possibly slippery "challenge" section and instead went via seal to Palmerston North for lunch and a poke around Bruce McKenzie books and bikes shops. Dismal conditions north of Levin, would have been better to have stayed in town!
I would have made a meal of Pack Spur Road so just as well I passed. I note Andy's bike is not quite its full self yet, sporting a "streetfighter look"!

Hi Eddie, it's a Acerbis DHH which I got on Trademe. Yes its E marked & should be WOF compliant because the low beam dips to the left. The sales blurb says it is a sealed beam but it has a 35/35W bulb, which is obviously weaker than the Honda 65/65 H4. Looks a bit small, floating in midair so I might also fit a high mudguard, especially since the low mudguard filled with mud on Pac Spur Rd.

Hmm, so it doesn't take an H4. Not really suitable as a long term solution for me then. It would work as a short term solution to get a WOF though.

Those chrome air scoops are bling - but I suspect they are high maintenance (too much polishing involved)
they may not be culvert proof :)
Our computer has been in censorship mode recently, so I can't see marks (perverted?) photos or any posted videos. Previously I could. What settings do I need to change?
maybe I stuffed the links up - I can see them - can anyone else?
is the bike any more tiring to ride Andy - without all the wind/weather protection?

I was going to do the exhaust too, but couldn't be fooked. Looks alright though eh.
It's kinda scary how that actually looks like it belongs on the bike.

Hmm, so it doesn't take an H4. Not really suitable as a long term solution for me then. It would work as a short term solution to get a WOF though.
Eddie if you want you can borrow the headlight for your WOF . It has four rubber straps around the forks. The bulb fitting has 3 tiny 4.5mm spade connectors & I've made a wiring extension to 10mm spades which plug into the Honda wiring socket.
And no I'm not loaning the chrome. <_<

The original windscreen caused a lot of buffetting around my helmet so without screen is quieter all round. From 80km+ there is more wind pressure on the chest but no problems on last weekends 430km ride around the Wairarapa.

Well done team - it has been a while. I have been out on the road the last three of the last four weekends but I have to say it was pretty miserable at times.
Decided to go flying today instead (although rode to Paraparaumu) - three months and a week since last flight. No injuries or damage despite the build up of rust on the pilot.
I hope the rule that things come in threes does not apply to Andy!

Could that have been snagged from removing the Stator cover then by someone? The neutral switch on the left with the philips head? Have you ever removed this? I think the issue with mine not indicating neutral is the switch. I have done some research, KTM owners have said it can fail periodically. My one comes on when I earth it, but won't go out when I change gear. I plonk a screwdriver in the hole with the wire and it lights up. Put the screw back in with the wire and it stops?
I am no sparkie but it sounds like a switch issue.
Do you still have the sidestand switch on the bike?
Under the seat there is acluster of pins, one goes to temp, one goes to sidestand switch - Green and black if it is original (neutral wire)
