short shins
18th May 2009, 21:17
First registered in NZ September 1988 ex UK
I took possession of it May 2002
Odometer shows 80200km (Originally had a MPH speedo replaced at 63135mls, 73667kms)
The transmission splines were lubed November 2008 at 78313kms
At the same time.
Replaced the rear crankshaft seal as it was leaking
Oil pump cover O Ring as a precautionary measure
Clutch plate. Nothing wrong with the old one. Wear limit is 4.5mm and it was getting close to that so I replaced it while I had the clutch apart.
Hagon shock. The original was leaking fluid. Could not justify the dollars for an Ohlin…)
Apart from oil changes, valve adjustments, carb balancing etc I have not had to lay a spanner on it in the 7 years I have owned it.
I have done 3 CCA's on it with no problems (apart from rider error)
Also I have done a couple of road trips in the NI and SI.
Last trip was to Pukekohe for the NZCMRR Feb 2009 event. The bike ran well, apart from the R/H mirror falling off somewhere near Raglan…
Comes with a set of spare set of Conti TKC80’s 75% worn (Might be enough for the next CCA in 2010), Haynes manual and a box of bits and pieces
Whats wrong with it?
Seat could do with a recover.
Seat lock broken
Exhaust is non standard
Push rod seals if you are fussy
Kill switch does not work
Ideal base for a full restoration, or throw an Ohlins on the back, a DR 650 front end and you have a no nonsense air head adventure bike..
