DAY 5 / Leg 4 – 26/03/09 – Wellington - Picton - Christchurch: I had packed two lots of gear for the trip, with sleeping bag, wets, liners and spare gloves in one pannier and clothing etc in the other. (Camera and travel docs etc in the top-box). When I got home I swapped North Island maps for South, threw in the strops for the ferry. Took the clothing pannier up to the bedroom, threw out the dirty washing and put in the clean gear I had packed in a shopping bag. I was all ready to go. ...
In all my years of travel ... on these islands, and the rest. In trains and boats ,and planes ... cars and trucks and vans. No matter where I went, or when ... one way I loved the best. The way it was, when I'm in control ... control in my two hands. And better still, if there could be ... a better way to go at all. I found it, soon enough ... the way I know you like. The feeling that I found ... boreing, no not at all. The way I found, ...
Sat 21 – Day 3 At this point we already had 38,000 of our required 50,000 points and Saturday's plan called for collecting another 36,500 points and 1,114km. I arose before the alarm went off at 0500, geared-up, re-packed, put a bit of air in the tyres and we were on the move by 0605 heading south for the first three CP's at Menzies Ferry, Mataura Island and Bluff. I had Chriss behind me and his headlights were bloody bright so I turned my mirrors down and got on with the job, only ...

Well, after my last blog entry Sissy the ST4 has had very little use (by my standards anyway) having only moved 2,600kms since her 'valve check' was done, oil filters tune blah blah. On a run over the Pahiatua Track yesterday we noticed a few fresh spots under the bike, and a big black drip hanging off the paddock stand mount. Having asked my 'regular' service agent to look into this issue before, (twice no less) and being told it was 'chain splatter, its nothing of concern' ...
Ok...lets sort this out once and for all. MSL, how I got involved, and what it is, what it means. In light of recent events and in the interest of setting a few records straight, I decided to blog the course of history that lead me to be on the ACC MSL Safety Council. You all know I was involved with BIKEOI, and thats effectively where my involvment began. BRONZ Wellington opened, and grew, and started to get attention from TPTB Foxzee called ...
