  • Kiwi Biker upgrade to vB4 Suite.

Over 6 hours. That's gotta be the longest an upgrade has taken.

This upgrade is a work in progress, as there is still much to do. I have modified the code for my Trader, Calendar, Event Attendance, Image Browser & Censor mods to work with the new software, but have still to do the following:

    Quote Notification
    avatar/profile pic censoring
    Profile Rep Stats
    Fallen Bikers page
    JavaChat Integration
Force Style for Selected Users or Groups
    PM Reply to all
    Flame Warrior

    Mods awaiting an update
    Advanced Forum Statistics
    Social Group Calendars
    v3 Arcade
    vBTubePRO
    KB Spy
    Wiki single login

The old Dark Zone style is not compatible with the new version. As soon as I find a dark style I like, I will add it to the site.

All your images from Blogs, Social Groups, Albums and Posts are now in a central pool which is controlled via an enhanced attachment uploading window. You may need to enable it your settings.

Image censoring has also changed. Now all iffy images need to be in a folder called "pr0n". You can have as many pr0n folders as you like anywhere in the folder tree. Again you may need to enable enhanced attachment uploading in your settings. So yes, you will now need to go through all your images and drag & drop all the naughty ones into a pr0n folder.

Until I've sorted the Wiki single login, you will need to login to the Wiki seperatly using your KB login name. New Wiki accounts have also been disabled. If you have content to add to the Wiki and don't have a login, let me know.

It will be several weeks before I've finished coding and sorting the new look.

Anything not working as it should, let me know here.

when I quick reply or leave comments like this, or go advanced...The default font colour is white because I cannot see it? When I highlight it, it becomes blue. I have to select the colour font before I type? Is this right? I thought black would have been the default? Is it just my issue?
      Thanks.

That's not what i meant; learn to read yourself

he mentioned he had a style designer (whereas I thought most of this was spankme's own work), and I'm aware of why we "need" an upgrade - so I ask how difficult it would be to get the old look/layout back. This means changing the .css styles to get the site to look like the old familiar KB. I'd hope it was as simple as giving the designer an old printscreen and waiting an hour or two....

Then, on reflection, I posted what was actually bugging me the most as the new thread format is pretty good now the wrinkles have been ironed out.

maybe we could also change "settings" to "user cp" just to end all that confusion

what browser are you using? I'm using google chrome and it's white text on a black background, and firefox seems to work the same too

They say change is a good thing. And I don't mind change if it is for the better. But that change is for the better I am yet to be convinced.
I am not concerned about the new layout and things.
But what's up with the speed of the site. It's gone down to a crawl. Sometimes it won't load at all. Get a message "Server reset, connection timed-out. Server might be busy."
      Aaarrgghhh!

I have white text on a white background, this is why I am typing in KTM Orange...
I am using Internet Explorer Browser.
It sucks really because as I type, I forget and then can't even see the words. Even when quoting, the type is not there, but the smilies are. I then have to highlight everything to see where to begin or what to delete etc. Okay, this is an edit. I tried Google chrome and yes, black background, white text. This is IE 8 and it is white, with white...Strange??

I hope the bug with the reputation box is fixed in the "." releases.

Type something into the reputation box and press enter. Instant error, you have to click the "Add Reputation" button instead.

Since the upgrade, I have been having a minor problem: a page will stop loading and a message pops up about an unresponsive script. I am using Firefox on a Mac. Anybody know why this is happening? It's not a big deal because I just click on the "Cancel" and the page seems to load normally, but it does slow things down.

to be fair, it's a new error in that I'm not trying to save a php file this time like I would occasionally get when clicking links on the old KB (both chrome and firefox)

nonetheless, clicked link, presented with download

(and new attachment thingy is "interesting")

You'll need to fined out what MIME content type was presented to the browser, and then change the default behaviour for that type to display rather than save it.

Or are you saying this is an intermittent one off issue?

intermittent - the old version would pop up .php files instead

so far that gz file is the only occurance with the new upgrade

This really needs to be on a bulletin board site but; ...; the photo view in a thread (like tits and arse) could deliver a much better user experience if while viewing one photo it started retrieving the next photo (aka, force it into the browser cache). Then as soon as you clicked next it would be ready to display, instantly.

Personally, I often find it is best to click next, next, next straight away until you get back to the first photo. Even though the other photos are not retrieved for display, they usually seemed to be downloaded and cached in the background, so they are available as soon as I click "next" to view.

or just right-click open in tab on each of them.
