If your into guitar based blues/rock music try and catch these guys over the summer…the Recliner Rockers are Auckland based and Tony Painter is from wellington, both are awesome live, the recliner rockers are a bit rock a billy…but both of them have the best guitar players in NZ…….Al Davis is superb…his blues solos will blow you away…and Tony Painter is again fantastic…he covers a lot of Stevie Ray Vaughan..Jimi Hendrix etc etc…. http://www.thereclinerrockers.co.nz/index.html Tony Painter and the Power Band - touring NZ in January including the riverhead tavern etc...
Had a look at their Gig schedule, but it doesn't list much outside of Auckland at present. Do you know if they are doing any gigs in HB in January?
