Hi All, I have just picked up the bones of a CB/SL 125 bucket racer for my son and I to fix up....
Big plus is that it has a disc front end.
Big minus is that its in bits.
    Any tips, thoughts, comments welcomed.
Any old parts you might have lying around ...too good to chuck but no one wants them concidered.
First challenge ...see if the cam is tight in the head as back in the early 80's all the ones I had were flogged out.
I understand the later XL125 two piece head fits.
Hmmm even have a 150 kit in stock.
This will give ol Dodgy an intro to posting his holiday snaps entitled " Skips of Aussie"...take it away Dodg....

I was serious, my mate lives next door to the scrap yard, they get all sorts, I will go over for a cuppa tomorrow and peer out his lounge windows to the amazing vista (not to mention the serenity of the ali cut-off saw) and see if I notice anything Honda-ish poking out the mountains of glorious gleaming and golden brown scrap metal

We have the after hours key

I did have some assorted honda single bits at one stage, They maybe still in my stuff somewere. mainly engine stuff. there was a realy rusty XL185 super farmer as well, I cut the front off the frame and keped the front end(not sure why) there mite be some other bits left.
Do you need the back brake shoes and backing plate? and other frame bits

Cheers Jase, I'm missing the back brake assembly, but really there is not much else to it.Frame, forks and wheels are all good, just need to work out how to fit some rearsets, get some newer tyres.
I was looking at the GL145 in Napier...but at 750 plus " postage' its getting a bit steep.....I saw one on Saturday and they go well, cdi and bigger engine.

That GL is Simon's from pacific club, it does go well. If you want it I could get Dooly to take it Taumarnui in Feb, might cost you a few drinks to Dooly on Saturday night tho. I think i still have the rear wheel for th XL in my junk, it was rusted thru the rim, Measure your drum size and i will see if its the same(when i find it)

Then I can bring it back to Auckland- I owe Volty some bike transport from the Coro Loop before last

So tempting...a 'racer' staight out of the box so to speak.
But....but the idea of Declan building one up from a pile of bits has a certain appeal....decisions....
Thanks guys for the offers of transport.

It will break or get binned at some stage... there will be father and son workshop time no matter what, never fear...the yoof of today want it now, or they lose the spark, even the loading of X-box games isn't quick enough.
