Tommorrow, I'm taking the GPZ on the weekly ride we tend to do here.
Normally I'd be on the Daytona, or the Duc, as its sports bike city, hard out thrash, count your blessings if you get back alive!

I must admit, I really enjoyed last weekend and on the GPZ, and at a slower pace than I'd mormally go.
I found I was riding a bit differently to what I normally would and Dieseldick pointed out to me at Whongomomona a few things I was doing that could be hazardous to my health that I really was'nt aware of, as he was following me. (Good on yer mate!)

Put some bar end mirrors on, got rid of the hideous stockers, finally got a new fuel filter, been on order, just awaiting the 4 into 1 noise machine.
In theory should be all good as the prob seems fixed, as I did 850 kms over the weekend, plus 20 on the trailer to home.

Weather's gonna be good this end of the world, looking forward to it, hope you guys all get out.
    Have a good one.

Any HBers, wanna come, leaving my place at 1pm, long way to Patangata, then brewskis at the Classic Club on the way home.

It will be sweet tony, you have sorted all the gremlins now, and they were fairly minor ones.
Will try to get to the classic club a bit later on, if all goes well at work, if not i will be working sunday too.

Have a good time Dooley. The best part of the old bikes is relaxing and enjoying the ride. I was reflecting on the way back last weekend that you can look around and appreciate the places you ride through.

Bike ran well Eddie, did almost 200kms. Probs seem sorted.
Think the main one was the shingle, gravel dance on the Taihape road shaking the fuel pressure hose off.

    Humbling experience tho.
30 yr old heavy bikes cannot compete that well with newish modern high powered sprotsbikes in the twisties.
Caught up with a few of the guys I ride with at Patangata, Grant on his 999 Duc, Pete on his Sprint, Gixxer, SV etc etc.
I let them go first and could keep with them on the straights, but come twisties, it was all over, could'nt take the corners as fast, had to brake earlier, etc etc, usual.
I gave up and just did my own thing, but was'nt too far behind.
Funny thing is, aside from Grant, I can outrun them on my moderns no probs.

But it was great, I'm not that niave to think I could keep up, and it was fun watching the differences and their lines compared to what I had to take. Whereas I'm sure I was more pushing it than them just to keep them in sight!

But hell, what a great day, and even tho I could of taken the flashies out today, I took the shitter...........and a good day was had by all, topped with several ice cold brews at the Classic Club on the way home.

hehe, i know that feeling! ive had my gsx bouncing on bottomed forks on middle road trying to ride in sports mode, as you say ..you mightnt be able to
keep up, but your never far behind..., its a bit of a buzz moveing all over the bike tryin to hustle it thru corners, like a lap of wanganui circa 1981 hehe

    bouncing on bottomed forks

I reckon it's worth the spend to sort the forks with racetech emulators & fork brace and a decent pair of new cartridge shocks on teh back. Get the old girl up to 80+% of the newer bikes. At least a couple of $k though

Glad you had a good and trouble free ride Dooly.

Good on ya Dooly. It is tempting to take the better performing later models out on such rides. I do so occasionally with the 1150 which does foot it with most of the plastic fantastics, but it's hard work controlling it out of the twisties. I would have joined ya but have been in Taupo again this weekend. See ya Wednesday night.
