Looks like an exectutive decision was made earlier in the week. I'd prefer active members only and closed group. psyguy - 22nd February 2010 11:23 further to my PM last night I have already received about 40 requests from people to remain members. some of those appologized for not posting or not often or not making it to rides or the rally (for various reasons). i think it might be worth stressing that while we encourage people to post, ride and socialise, no decision was taken by the group that that sort of participation is mandatory for membership. i have also made bftp forum available for viewing for non-members (without formal registration for membership) which wasn't the case so far, so new interested parties who may only want to have a nosey but are not interested in being a member dont have to bother asking permission to see the bftp pages content.
if you read a bit further in that same thread you'll see that i incresed the privacy that same day, as soon as i realized it was a hot topic and may negatively affect some members! the setting has been changed for only a few hours really. not sure how this status can be confirmed from outside? maybe someone could ask a nonmember they know if they could check this for us?
"Users must join to view the content" is the exact wording in the control panel.
